I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I wanted to pick up something quick for dinner after I got done working tonight, but I wanted to try something new. I ended up here because it was convenient. I ordered the 5 & 5 Plate with Korean BBQ sauce for my husband and the Slim's Plate for myself. I am sure everything tastes better if you eat it there, but I took it to go. It was still really good, even after traveling the 10 minutes home. The tenders tasted really fresh, the fries were surprisingly crispy, and the sauces were good, too. The Texas toast was the only thing that didn't travel very well. It became a bit soggy. Otherwise, everything was really good for a "fast food" place. The value is good, and they were pretty fast for such fresh tasting food. read more

Overpriced. Chicken comes out of fryer so hot it burned my fingers - had to wait 10 minutes, staring at my food waiting for it to cool down. My fingers still stung from the burning hot chicken 5 hours later. Flavor of chicken was average - no where near as flavorful as Streets. Hard, tasteless fries. Will never go back. I ordered take out on Sunday, September 10th and received horrible service. I didn't receive a number, so they ended up giving my order to the people that had my number. I'm watching these people dig through and eat out of my food that I paid for and they knew it wasn't theirs. So finally after taking 2 tenders out and eating them, they decided to take my food back up to the counter and told them that it wasn't their order and that they ate 2 tenders from it. The employee put 2 fresh tender back in my order and brought me my food. I totally lost it. I don't know where their hands have been to be digging in my food and you just gone bring my food over like nothing has happened. I just paid $40 for all this crap, so I need a fresh order or refund. After having several great experiences dining in at Slim Chickens, we didn't hesitate to order take-out for a Sunday dinner. We called the restaurant in the afternoon to ask a couple of questions and we found out that we could order online - which was very convenient. We also learned that in addition to their regular menu, they offer family packs - since there are just two of us, they suggested the small pack which includes 12 chicken strips, coleslaw, toast, iced tea, and some homemade chips (which are definitely not french fries as they were described to us on the phone). So, this evening went online and placed our order. When we arrived the restaurant to pick up the order, it was virtually empty and there was no wait. I gave the cashier my info and asked her to add two strawberry cheesecake jar desserts to my order. She rolled her eyes and proceeded to gather my order, most of which was sitting off to the side but not bagged up. After I paid and she handed me the order, I was informed that they only had 1/2 gallon of sweet tea so they gave me 1/2 sweet and 1/2 regular (there was no other option offered). Arriving home and unpacking the food I noted that there were no desserts, (fortunately I wasn't charged for them). In addition, the ranch chips are not the slim chickens french fries which we love and the employee who told us that they were fries is clearly clueless. The chips were greasy, overly seasoned, and do not look appetizing. They taste like an over zealous attempt by a home cook to make kettle fries (which we do not like anyway). As for the rest of the meal, the toast was soggy, the chicken was perfect, and the cream gravy was room temp and flavorless. Fortunately, the cole slaw was delicious, however, the tea was soured and disgusting. It was quite obvious that we were given old tea from the twangy bitter taste. How much trouble is it to make fresh sweet tea? The answer is: None, if that is what your customer ordered. This is a big time fail and has us referring to this place as Slum Puking. Overall, this was not a good meal nor a positive experience. I called the location and was placed on hold for almost ten minutes the first time and told that the manager wasn't available the second time. It is very disappointing. We have made an effort to support this business since it opened this new location. However, there is an obvious decline in food quality and customer service is unacceptable. Fortunately, if we turn left there is a Raising Caine's about the same distance away because we don't like the slim pickings now at Slim Chickens (Slum Puking). Two thumbs down and a bleh to your lazy employee. Got an "apology" from Slum Pukings, er Slim Pickens, below. Now I understand why The tea was disgusting and undrinkable, the gravy cold, the toast soggy, and the dessert forgotten. My husband and I wanted chicken wings. We went to pluckers but the wait was ridiculous. We made the short drive to Slim Chicken. We both ordered chicken wings, one with fried pickles and 1 with fried okra. The sides were great. The wings were pretty good too; they could have been a little crisper and they could have included more drums. The kids ate free on Sunday, which saved us close to $10. This may become our Sunday regular now. We walked out spending less that $30 for 4 meals. And it was good! read more

I ordered a Slims Plate. The chicken was good, but nothing to brag about. I was impressed with the list of sauces. I got the Slim sauce. The jury is out on it. It was kind of sweet and "mayo-yee" if that makes sense. I also got the cayenne ranch, YUM! The fries were nice and seasoned well. Here's where you lose me, why do these restaurants boast that they have "Texas Toast" not take the time out to butter it and toast it too? Might as well not include it. It's a waste. Wow this place is waaaay overpriced for the quality (lack of quality) they are putting in their food. I came in at 9, and there was maybe one person ahead of me, and my order took 30 minutes to come out and the fries, toast AND chicken tenders were lukewarm as if it had been sitting out for 20ish minutes for some random reason or were made an hour or so ago and just sitting out. The chicken tenders were disgusting cheap quality and lukewarm. They should have spent more money on the product than the the internal design. Go to a good chicken place instead of here. Not very good on multiple points, but mostly food quality. Weak flavor poor quality dipping sauces Worst of all - food quality, their signature "chips" were soggy and lacking flavor, also the oil gave them a horrible taste/after taste and fries and texas toast were cold! Only positive is the tenders are good quality, but not much flavor. Don't eat at Chick-fil-A for political reasons, but their quality and flavor has no competition. If you want good quality, try Raising Cane's (although they need more sauces and flavor in their tenders too). read more

First of all the second star is for the staff because they were courteous and professional. Unfortunately that's where the good part ends. The wings were horrible. They tasted like they were cooked in old burnt grease. The hot sauce was OK, but it couldn't overcome the burnt flavor of the chicken. I had to give it a shot but I won't be going back. Great service. The cashier was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. She didn't suggest the slim sauce which I chose. That was the only thing from my meal I didn't care for. It was bland. She suggested the cayenne ranch. My error. My tenders were amazing. Fries were hot. Toast was hot. Manager was checking on tables and asking for feedback. My friend ordered the grilled chicken salad and was thrilled by the amount of chicken in it. If there was a location closer to me, I would go back. read more

This place was great! My boyfriend and I went about two weeks ago and I am still thinking about the food! I ordered the six wing combo with the spicy sweet chili. The price is affordable, and almost better than you'd get at another wing restaurant. They actually gave us extra wings in both meals...so that's awesome. My wife and I were shopping at the Toy's R Us and we got the sudden urge for some chicken. We wanted to try something new since we were tired of the same o'l Dallas chicken, so we drove around for a bit and that's when we bumped into Slim Chickens. Took us 2 minutes to order and 1 minute to receive our food. Food was hot and fresh, environment quite/super clean, staff super friendly, and my waist size happily increased from a 32 to a size 34! I had a really tough time picking a review score for this one. You should know that there are some things that Slim Chickens does 5 star well, and others that fall squarely into the "meh, I've experienced better" category. While I'd like to give them a 3.5, I'm rounding down today since one of their flaws, in my opinion, is their chicken which should be their shining star, given that they are a chicken restaurant. I will likely return and consider updating my review, should a future visit warrant that. Slim Chickens is a restaurant that can't decide if they are fast food or not. They cook food to order yet have a drive thru. They've got a sign at the pickup window letting people know that they should expect to wait slightly longer than at other drive thru windows, but their prices are also higher than other similar restaurants. So I see a bunch of reviews lambasting them over their prices but this place really isn't the same level of fast food as a McDonald's or a Raising Cane's...yet despite the 18 sauce choices, it's not a Plucker's sit down either. Let's talk food. The chicken is ultimately what I object to the most. Looking at their menu, their signature food should be the chicken tender. It is less breaded than Cane's, thus I would imagine slightly lower in calories, but it's also a whole lot less flavorful. Cane's chicken (without factoring in sauce) is far better. I'd go as far to say that KFC and McDonald's chicken tenders are better, or at least on par with these (and that's not a compliment). I found the chicken tenders to be truly forgettable and disappointing. Would not order again and I did not finish eating them. It's not bad quality...but it's just lacking. Perhaps you are supposed to drown them in one of the dozen sauces, but I think good chicken should stand on its own. The sides, however, are where Slim Chickens shines. Mac n cheese is truly the best fast food mac n cheese I've ever had. It's close to restaurant quality. Thick noodles, creamy homemade sauce, even better than several local barbecue joints. The fries? Now I love me some Cane's crinkle fries cause I'm not into the super crisp fries, but these ones are better. A lot more flavor. Natural cut (which I can live without, but they do a good job with them). We also tried the fried mushrooms which are pricy for a side, but you do get quite a few of them. These are absolutely fantastic fried mushrooms. Sit down restaurant quality for sure. I didn't get to try any of the other sides but there were several more that I would have liked to...but you're going to have a hard time getting me to try something else after I've already found three really great ones. The only problem is that I don't really have any good chicken to eat them with. So if you're into delicious side options and a dozen different variations of ranch dipping sauce to put them in...Slim chickens is a 5 star joint. Imagine that if your favorite bar food restaurant had a drive thru...this would be it. But if you're looking for amazing chicken or super cheap fast food, you're going to have to go elsewhere. Bring a few extra bucks with you for lunch one day and just order off the sides (and desserts, I'm told) menu and you'll be happy. Much like a host of my fellow yelpers, I have to rate Slim Chickens a solid 2. The pair of stars is really a gift bc the staffing is great. I ordered a 3x3 so that I could try the wings and tenders. I only got 2 of the 3 wings but was ok with that given that the garlic Parmesan slime was not very tasty. The tenders were fine, but nothing to write home about. The staff was professional and helpful so if I ever return for salty fries or a dessert, it would be solely to greet and thank them. I hope this place can turn it around. read more

Someone failed math. 3, 5 and 7 piece tender dinner. 3 piece = $7.29 5 piece = $8.79 (So, add $1.50 for 2 pcs) 7 piece = $10.99 (Now you are adding $2.20 for 2 more pieces from 5 count to 7. I had hopes for this place. The restaurant is clean, the employees are friendly, and the atmosphere is unique for a fast food restaurant, with guitars on the walls and blues music playing in the background. However, the chicken tenders were chewy and overcooked; the Slim Sauce was thick with a strange mealy texture, and a taste far inferior to Raising Caine's; and the breading was soggy and greasy, without even the smallest bit of crunch. The fries were average, the sweet chili sauce was really good, and we had one of our tenders tossed in buffalo sauce, which was a good flavor but the chicken was still chewy. There were some other items in the menu that looked appealing, like the fried pickles, but I won't be back to try them--not with so many great chicken strip restaurants around. I think of this new fast casual as a cross between Cain's and Wingstop/Buffalo Wild Wings. Yes, the location is half of the old Sherlock's (other side is now Jason's Deli). Like many great things the menu is simple. However, In addition to wings or strips you can also order chicken and waffles. The price is reasonable you should give it a try. read more

They were just ok. I had never heard of this place. I went there for lunch. The service was lacking on so many levels. It was obvious that I had never been to this establishment, due the fact that I struggled to put my order together. The cashier offered no assistance. As I waited for my order, one of the other staff personnel almost ran me over twice. So I finally get my food, and I ask, "Is there any catsup in the bag?" I was told, "Yes everything is there." I'm thinking " Sweet". So I leave. I get to work. No catsup. "Really"! Continue to unpack everything, bite into a tender and it's under cooked!!! Needless to say I am disappointed. First time visiting with my family and the staff was great! Very friendly, the environment was kid friendly and the food was good. The menu options were just right. Enough to offer a good variety without feeling overwhelmed on what to order like many places. After ordering our meal, the manager was waiting with crayons and coloring paper for the kids. There were plenty of drink choices (Coke products). Food came timely and chicken was moist. I ordered the five and five to try a variety (five tenders and five wings). None of the chicken came out dry and the fries were well seasoned and crisp. There were plenty of sauce choices and I tried the Habanero Mango and Chipotle Ranch. Both were great! The staff went out of their way to be helpful, friendly and make the experience a good one. Good, solid fast-casual place serving up chicken in a variety of ways. Similar to Raising Cane's except with more offerings.
