    Kids enjoying their food.

Took my kids here the other week for some chicken. They are huge fans of Raising Canes (I am not..I hate that place...bland ass chicken...anyways!) so I thought we should try this place out. I went with a 5 piece meal, one kid got the kids meal, and my other kid went with the 3 piece meal. They come with fries and toast. You also get to pick 2 sauces out of about a dozen to choose from. I went with honey mustard and mango habanero. How was the food? 5 Piece Strip Meal- First bite in, I knew it was going to be good. Crispy, hot chicken tenders, with flavor! The dips were tasty! Good fries and good toast, too! Coke products which is awesome! My kids loved their food too! We got out of there for only about $30.00 which is pretty cheap nowadays for 3 meals from anywhere. I will definitely return!

Idk why this spot has low ratings but for me it was great. First time and I loved the food. Service was friendly and professional, restaurant is clean, has some good tunes playing and tv's on the sports channel. I definitely like this place better than raising canes. More menu options, dipping sauces, and flavors if you want you chicken sauced up. Fries are seasoned right and crispy. 100% will come back.

We stopped by Slim Chickens to try them out since we had never been there before. The service was excellent, and the restaurant was clean and inviting! We ordered chicken and some deep-fried pickles. The chicken was great, but the pickles were super oily. I loved that they offered a variety of different sauces. Check them out if there is one near you.

I was apprehensive about eating at Slim Chickens due to mediocre reviews, though was pleasantly surprised on my recent visit. The facility is rather new. It's bright and clean, yet has a homey, unpretentious feel. It's suitable for all, so feel free to bring kids, coworkers and Grandma. There was no line / no waiting on a Saturday afternoon. While not "out of the way" friendly, the service was efficient and my order was delivered accurately. Many competitors can't say the same. I ordered the Buffalo Tender Mac Bowl Meal. It came with two chopped crispy chicken tenders which were fine for fast food. The bed of Mac and cheese was creamy and ample In portion size. The Buffalo sauce provided just enough flavor without being overpowering. It was all topped off with scallions and crispy fried onions, elevating a simple dish. There was no mention of it on the menu board (for this dish), but the meal included Texas Toast (a slice of grilled white bread). It may be artery- clogging, but also light, crispy and yummy. A (16 oz. ???) fountain drink rounded out the meal. Price: $10.99. I guess I wasn't exhibiting much self control and opted for dessert. They offer both regular menu and seasonal desserts served trifle- style in a glass jar. Mine came with flavorful bits of cheesecake, firm (not mushy) strawberries and whipped cream. It reminded me a little of the trifles another fast food chicken chain offered many years ago, but with cheesecake instead of plain cake. At $6.99, the price was a bit steep for fast food. At least the glass jar is yours to keep and reusable. Overall, the food was good and on the pricey side. Unlike other fast food restaurants, no tip was expected, so it may be on "price par" with other restaurants. I hope they pay their employees a fair wage.

If you're looking for regular fried chicken place, this isn't it. I guess that's why it's called Slim Pickens. Pros: *staff was friendly. *place was relatively clean considering it was the lunch rush hour. *the fries were very good *the honey mustard sauce was tasty, but the mango habanero sauce was too hot for me, but not for my hubby. *the toast was good. Cons: *we ordered the 5 & 5 (5 wings & 5 tenders) it came with 4 flats, but just 1 drummette-my husband doesn't like flats, but I do. *the wings don't taste like they brine them so the meat itself was bland. *the tenders were a little bit rubbery. Overall, I've had chicken that's better at other places, but for $18 it wasn't bad.

First time trying this location I usually go to happy valley. This location had way better food but it took 22 min to get the food there were long lines people were frustrated. I believe they were very short staffed. My dad went to restroom and noticed the sink was inoperable due to the handle missing off sink in restroom. He let cashier know who said yeah we are aware, they should fix it

Food was subpar the wait wasn't worth it honestly. For the price it wasn't bad definitely a better than KFC. Service wasn't great they seemed to care more for the DD/Uber eats orders over in person orders. Tables weren't clean. The desert jar is good and all but if it had ice cream or fruit that'd be a perfect snack! Chicken and waffles weren't bad but the waffle was dry and tasted like it came from a bag and tossed into a microwave I will give them this though their bread and Dr Pepper was actually one of the best I've had out of the chicken spots.

Clean restaurant with plenty of parking and spacious seating. The cashier , Selene, was super friendly and helpful--great first impression! We got the 5-piece meal (tenders, fries, Texas toast, drink). Chicken was juicy and crunchy, toast was buttery and fluffy, but the fries were just okay and a bit on the small side. The toast made up for it though. For the price, it felt worth it. Drink station was spotless and fully stocked. Potato salad was a miss--too much mayo, not enough seasoning. Lots of sauces to choose from! Ranch, buffalo, and garlic parmesan were my faves. BBQ lovers might enjoy their options too. Overall, solid experience. I'll be back to try a sandwich and one of those dessert jars!

I hope this is still "working out the kinks" but after these two visits, nothing about this place will bring me back. Tried again after the first not good visit and the food still wasn't good plus the service this time was horrible in the drive thru. There were only three cars ahead of me (including both lanes) and then moving up, a bunch of cars joined the other lane and moved faster than the lane I was in. When I finally got to the speaker the girl working it was acting like she couldn't hear anything which was definitely beyond frustrating. The cars at the window didn't seem to be faring much better. Some were getting their food thru the paying window, others being moved up to collect at the food window. It was just a mess. When I looked behind me, both lines were long. I waited over 30 min. Was not worth it at all.

WOW - Slim Chickens nailed it! We shared the six-piece spicy BBQ wings and they were perfection - crispy skin, tender meat, just the right amount of sauce. Honestly, better than Buffalo Wild Wings! The crispy chicken sandwich was cooked fresh, with a buttery bun and just the right touch of sauce. Desserts came in adorable mason jars - the strawberry cheesecake stole the show with its sweet graham cracker crust and perfect strawberries. The banana pudding was good, though we prefer a little crunch in the wafers. We also tried the mac & cheese - creamy and mild, so if you like less cheesy mac & cheese you might enjoy it, but it wasn't our favorite. All in all, amazing food, great flavors, and wings we'd come back for again and again!

We enjoyed the food here. Chicken tenders, wings, and fries were hot and tasty. Young lady at the register was not very helpful since this was our first time. Restaurant was clean and we appreciated the high top tables. Music was not our favorite. All in all we will return.

    Becky B.

Nothing to rave about. The chicken didn't have much flavor. The toast is just basic, nothing amazing. Fried pickles were so salty we couldn't even eat them. The buffalo Mac and cheese bowl was just okay. Too many fried onions on it. French fries were the best part of the meal. Was really hoping it was better, we drove across town to try it out.

Great music playing in the background set the mood, songs like Knock Three Times and Song Sung Blue by Neil Diamond. The lady who helped me place my order, possibly the owner, was so sweet. Patient too, as I made my selections. It was hard to choose what to get as the shop has so many appetizing sweet and savory options on the menu. I ended up getting a chocolate milkshake and a 6-pack of oatmeal cookies I was able to take home and share, including chocolate chip (no nuts), chocolate walnut, peanut butter dark chocolate cashew, dark chocolate pecan, dark chocolate cashew, and oatmeal raisin with pecans (they have a nut-free version too). The taste of everything was phenomenal. The shake had the perfect consistency and a strong chocolatey flavor, yet wasn't too sweet. And the cookies were nice and chewy and loaded with delicious chunks of nuts and chocolate. Honestly, I couldn't really tell the difference between the nut and chocolate combo flavors as the oatmeal was really the highlight. The peanut butter one and oatmeal raisin were more recognizable. ALL of them were amazing!

I recently had to be in the downtown Glendale area - the Yelp machine recommended I hit up Blue Corn Cafe. There's some development / construction in the downtown area so parking is a little limited. However - I was able to snag a spot right along 58th Ave and get a good view of all the cute shops to check out at a later date. Blue Corn was surprisingly busy that morning due to hosting a Coffee with Cops event. I got the low down from a few of the GPD staff that they are consistently rated as one of the best cafes in the city, maybe even the West Valley. They have recently-ish opened up a second location in DT Mesa, which definitely fits their vibe. I was told the owner gets up early every day to bake - I love the dedication to his craft. Like many mom and pops, there are times when quantities are limited. So ofc I had to buy some baked goods to go for my work team! Their muffins are HUGE - like 2 -3 servings per *singular* muffin. I didn't know what I was getting into when I bought 6... hello carb heaven for us. I noticed a lot of sweet and savory options - croissant sandwiches, cookies, you name it. Definitely the muffins were well-enjoyed by all (PSL, lemon-blueberry, red velvet), and the general consensus was lemon blueberry as the winner. It's a small space with not a lot of seating options however there appears to be a back patio that might be shared with other restaurants. I couldn't get a view on my way out. Cannot wait for the next time that I'm in the area to grab more sweets!

It happened to be a little under twenty minutes away from us so we decided let's do it & they were open late. Hell yeah. There's not a crazy amount of pastries but the selection was great. We got two tiramisus, one vanilla custard lobster tail, some mini cannolis, & the wedding cookies. Everything came out to about $50 so beware, prices aren't exactly cheap. But for one, if you're going to do "bad" then do it right & we also shared with our family of 5 so plenty to go around. & Holy cow, everything was incredible. So indulgent, decadent & rich in flavor. My nephews liked the cannolis, personally they're not my favorite, but if you're into it the mini's are a great option to quench the craving. The lobster tail with the vanilla custard took me by surprise. I didn't think I was going to care for it, but the cold custard was refreshing & the flakiness of the bread was crazy, my taster buds were confused by the textures, but in the best way. They complemented each other well. My ultimate favorite was the tiramisu & the wedding cookies. I honestly wish I had gotten more of the wedding cookies, those things took me back. I grew up eating the Mexican ones & the Italians did it right *applause* But damn, the tiramisu was to die for. I would order that again & again. Perfectly chilled, the dusting of the cocoa powder didn't taste like nesquik--incredible. At first the price had me thinking if we were doing too much, like damn, should we have just gone to Sprouts bakery? But after being able to indulge in a great quality dessert, it was worth every dollar. My only feedback, careful when you're paying at the register. If you're not paying attention, the tip automatically defaults to 18% on the tablet. Only thing I didn't care for. I could see if I was eating at the restaurant, but I just popped in to take pastries to go. So, that was kind of annoying. The service was fine, the girl that helped me was nice, but again I just pointed at desserts I wanted & went home. The location is part of the main restaurant, but it has its own entrance & little room making it feel separate to the Sicilian Butcher. They also carry gelato which I haven't tried yet.
