Played, won't be back. Went through the drive through on Friday around 3pm, was the only one there. When the lady asked what I wanted to order I asked if there was a plate with the katsu and short rib. If it can't be done, just say no. But she said 'yea' and rang me up for a 'custom' plate. I sat in that drive through for about 10 mins after paying and she gives me my plate, I leave. Get all the way home, my plate is wrong - I should have checked this in the drive through but benefit of doubt, ya know. I was so irritated about it though, I called and they knew exactly who I was when I said my food was wrong and said I could come back. I at first agreed, but was working and had already burned through my lunch. So I called back and asked for refund. Again, the girl I was talking to said I needed to come back to the store with my card for it. I said I was not about to be driving back and forth, she offered the store credit, so I took that. Saturday, after running my errands I went back thinking I should go before I or they forget. I go in, the girl that helped me must have been there the day prior because as soon as I mentioned the incorrect plate she remembered my plate and spoke to the man preparing the food. When she brought out my food she repeated my order, I said yes and still checked my food. It was right but there was 1 dry short rib amongst a good amount of chicken- instant annoyance. In the lady's defense, they did both ask about it. But I just waved it off and left. I don't think I should have to tell you, you know what you served- bs. I ordered ahead at this location because I had a very short lunch during work. I'd heard mixed reviews about this place and decided to try it for myself. I ordered the Hawaiian beef mini meal. When I walked in there was no one in the restaurant so not sure how busy it gets. It was very clean and had a typical fast food kind of vibe for the interior. My food was so-so. The vegetables were delicious, if I come back I might ask for more of those instead of rice. The noodle salad was tasty but the meat was off. I don't know if it was the grisly fat that gave it a cheap flavor but it wasn't very good and made my stomach feel a little wonky. I won't order that meat again if I come back. read more

The food here is tasty, I'll start with that! But, the drive through staff are getting my orders wrong more and more often. I let them know what my order is at the speaker, they repeat it back, so I think they actually got it right. But, when they get to the computer to enter my order, they put in the wrong order. So, I get to the window to pay and the total is off... They seem genuinely surprised and I ask them what they entered for my order. Then, they have to ask the staff to remake my meal, while there are other cars waiting (even longer now) behind me. So frustrating... I'm not sure if it's just the staff goofing up or off they are running short staffed... :/ read more

Although the food is good and they do have a drive through, not everything is available at the drive through. Also, even if you walk in, there is no loco moco available. How is that possible at a Hawaiian chain? Everything else is fine. Place is clean, parking is ample. There is ALWAYS a longer wait on whatever food you order, whether it is drive thru or walk in, but I have come to accept that as their standard. Everyone is nice here. The last time I ate here I got Kalua Pork and it was dry. I've had it better here other times, so I'm just going to call it a bad batch this past time. This place is near my friend's house, so I'm basically in the area just about every weekend. It falls into my normal rotation of weekend lunchtime spots and these gripes listed above are not quite enough to make me give up on this place. read more

I used to love this place but today... Long wait in the drive through line, I can understand they were really busy but, they were also doing some absurd production line type of stuff. When I got to the window and paid I saw the clerk bagging up meal after meal and none were mine, yet there were several meals stacked up waiting to be bagged and the meal prep in the back, (they were working hard,) had a meal prep station with about 20 meals set up and ready to finish being prepped from the containers of meat that were on the counter too. At least 20 open containers with rice balls and everything sitting their exposed to the air waiting for room to sit so the clerk/cashier could bag them. As she was I realized all those meals sitting open, waiting to be bagged are likely getting cold. Meanwhile I got tired of waiting fin my car, watching her bag other meals and waiting for her to find my meal and bag it so I pulled around to park and go inside. She was bagging someone else's food and then mine, handed me mine and I drove less than a mile home. My food was not even warm. The rice was cold and the macaroni salad was also medium temperature, (hope it is okay at that temp.) Aren't their health regulations for letting food sit out at room temp, (waiting for final prep,) for long? What was going on today, granted two of their employees must've been on break having their vape behind the building, (or actually maybe they were off of the clock.) There was the one clerk/cashier and at least two meal prep cooks in the back, but the amount of meals sitting open waiting to be finished, and the amount of meals finished waiting to be bagged doesn't make sense. At first I thought workers maybe called off, (everyone was working hard but it didn't' look like they were working food safety smart. It was a production line of food, all sitting there open, getting cold. This was my last time going there. The previous time it was a negative experience too, (cold food when I got home and I live less than a mile.) I can get cold rice from my own fridge and the chicken too. OhNO! Super bummed about this location, but two strikes and they're out. I was so excited when this location opened. Love other locations, but this one is super convenient. First visit I dined in and boy was the inside spotless! Super clean and very welcoming. I waited maybe 10 minutes for my food. When I finally got my food, the fried shrimp was soggy; gross! Strike one. My second visit was through the drive-thru. This wait time was closer to 15-20 minutes. When the food arrived, I left immediately since I was ready to get home. Rookie move! The bag was missing items AND THEY DID NOT GIVE ME ANY SAUCE!! $12 spam masubi with no sauce just doesn't hit the same. Strike two! Overall the quality does not match the high prices Ono has. The chicken katsu is paper thin; all crunch, no chicken. At best the food is just okay. Maybe Ono is still working out their "just opened" issues. Hopefully with time they improve! read more

I like this food that is why I choose to come here but when I pre order and nothing is ready it is very annoying and disheartening. Please have the meal ready by the time selected on a pre ordered meal. Waiting in line for 20 plus minutes seems unreasonable in this day and age. Placed an online pickup order today at 6:14pm for three meals and one order of spam musubi. No customization on anything just straight up menu items. Confirmation received, stated order would be ready at 6:37 pm. Order was not completed until 7:20! No explanation or apology given just food handed over. No notification from restaurant that food would be delayed. This is now the second time Ive had this happen with the order being completed way after time promised. I called and asked and the manager said he was aware and then I was told that they are slammed with orders and short staffed, but not before I was hung up on by someone else -- twice! I asked why no explanation or apology was given to my husband who was there waiting for almost an HOUR- manager didnt have an answer, said what can I do to make it right? Well that should have been asked at the time of handing over the food if you were aware of this problem. My family has been going there since they opened; in the past year Ive really noticed, in my opinion, the quality has gone down, the service has gone down, and i think the old managers went to another location (used to be a joy to go in, lovely people! We've eaten at Ono a few times now and really wanted to enjoy it but the flavor just wasn't there for us. The bbq chicken was excellent and flavorful at both locations we tried. The Bbq beef was very fatty and chewy. Kalua Pork tasted like it was smoked with maybe alderwood, Island Fire chicken tasted more Hispanic than Island in my opinion and was not spicy at all. The Spam Masubi was the greatest disappointment. Masubi should make you happy...mine fell apart and the Nori was hard to even chew through on one. We will not return to try the Katsu or fish...this last experience was just too bad to attempt this place again. $40 lunch and we left hungry which is why it's 2 star. read more

I love this place and have even converted my husband! I love getting real, not fried food almost every weekend while I'm working on a project and can't stop to cook (or make a mess in my kitchen!). I used to have to wait a long time to get the food but just took that as it wasn't being put on the grill til after I ordered it. Lately, though, my orders have been pretty quick. My husband and I can share a chicken and beef combo, add a kid's meal and have plenty for dinner with a little leftover. For about $20!! Can't even eat fast food anywhere for less than that! Are you looking for a fast-ish drive through with a healthier option? Ono is that place. On days when I am not able to cook and looking for the healthiest meal, I will swing by Ono. It's a meal I can generally trust and feel pretty good about eating as well. Don't get me wrong there are plenty of unhealthy options on the menu but this is a place that has options. As a warning, the drive-through is not that fast and can get a little backed up so I sometimes call ahead and just walk in the store to grab my order. For those complaining about the speed of service think, do we want faster service and uncooked meat or do you want the meat to be cooked right? On days when I get frustrated I remind myself that, plus it's a pretty busy place and most of my visits the meat seems like it was prepared at the time ordered or not long before. read more

Perhaps employees should be extra cautious of this and wash all vegetables thoroughly not to mention giving an extra examination on the plating when serving. This place may have given me one of the best meals I've had in a drive-thru, like ever. No way does this taste like fast food! I ordered the mini plate which consists of a scoop of rice, scoop of veggies, macaroni salad and grilled bbq chicken chicken. The chicken was tender and the warm sauce was provided to drizzle on. Everything was seasoned perfectly too. I didn't expect the macaroni salad to be good to be honest....it's a drive thru! It was good though and really made the meal unique, a Hawaiian tradition. The crab wontons were also good, really crispy on the outside with a really yummy crab and cream cheese filling...they did not disappoint. No complaints here whatsoever. We were greeted by 'Kenny' when placing our order who was extremely pleasant and efficient. Kenny congratulated us on our anniversary and placed our order. Our food was great (although the wife couldn't finish her Kalua Pork plate - so we took it back to Hale). Yes - the order did take a few extra minutes. I love Ono Hawaiian but this location there is something off. I don't know is it the lack of freshness or if they're not frying the chicken or shrimp long enough. I just don't like soggy fired food. I want it to be crispy and here it's soggy and nothing taste fresh. The Avondale location and the location in surprise are both completely night and day from the location here off cactus. The only good thing from this location is the warm teriyaki sauce. read more

It was lunch time and the kids were getting hangry. They both wanted the macaroni salad from Ono so we headed over. It's been a year or so since we've had it and I love that this location has a drive thru which is convenient. We went inside to put in our order and waited. The customer service was friendly and the tables and restaurant was clean. The wait wasn't long, less than 10 minutes which is good for the lunch rush hour. We got a shrimp plate, spam musubi and macaroni salad which the kids ate before I could get a pic. The shrimp is crispy and the salad was so good. I love the dressing that goes on the salad as well. The spam musubi was great and I thought the macaroni salad was creamier than usual which I didn't like but the kids loved it. If you're looking for some quick good food this is a place to try out if you haven't been! read more

Arrived at about 12:30 on a hot summer day. Open arrival the dining area was clean and inviting. We had never been before and the decor was not at all what I was expecting. Very modern and contemporary, for some reason I thought it would have more of an island vibe. A lady took our order. Nothing special about her customer service skills, but I'm not going to take points off. She was quick and efficient, I don't need small talk. Get our order to go. It was fresh and hot. The smell nearly killed us on the way home. 2 entree Aloha plate. Teriyaki and katsu. Both kinds of chicken were great. The teriyaki was slightly charred from the grill. Katsu, crispy. Rice fluffy yet gummy, just like we like it. The side salad didn't have enough dressing and way to many sliced onions. I still have that onion taste in my mouth, but ingredients were fresh. Our first time visit would have been 5 star except for one thing. Our order came out much later than the people that were 2 behind me even though my order was behind the counter waiting to be bagged. $9.26 for lunch for both since we shared the rice and salad. The slowest Ono in town. I'm not sure if they're consistently understaffed or just an overall lack of speed. I routinely look at my order waiting on a counter for minutes on end just to get the wrong order. I will never go back to this establishment due to the incompetency displayed time and time again. I happen to go through the drive thru and the menu on display looked washed and torn from the rain. I proceeded to try and order one of the combos that included the breaded chicken. The employee at the drive thru sounded as though they did not understand what I was trying to say, even though I was having to order off the top of my head since the menu was not available. She got attitude and just assumed what i was saying instead of trying to help out and offer options on the menu that could fit what I was trying to order.
