Went through the drive at this location for lunch. Parking lot was full at 11:30! An employee was outside assisting customers at the 2 drive through lanes. He handed me a paper menu and that helped. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles along with unsweet tea and a side of potato salad as the main course does not come with a side. In the entree container, there were smaller covered portion cups with butter and syrup. Both of the smaller lids came off somewhere along the way to my office. Luckily I didn't tilt the bag too much as the lid to the larger container had openings. The iced tea was cold, but the ice was gone before I got out the quarter mile to the highway. They gave me a few sliced lemons in a smaller cup. Great quality lemons! I do appreciate the quality Texas shaped waffle as it smells and tastes great. The chicken is very moist with a thin batter. Slims chicken is a great family friendly option, we go there specifically because kids eat free on Sundays and that is a huge savings for us. My husband loves the chicken and waffles and the buffalo wings, for the kids we do one regular and one with mac n cheese in place of the frys, for myself I like the chicks plate with chips. The chips are darn good, they are made in house so some are very crisp and others just slightly soft, I think its great. We typically the Slims chicken in Bedford texas but found ourselves on this end of town and stopped in. A couple oddities at this location were: -The girl taking our order was a little off, she was nice but needed everything repeated 5-6x per order, I dont know if she was super distracted or even high. -We had to ask for apple juice 3x and kept being told they would bring it right out. eventually I went to the front again and asked once more to be told they were out of apple juice. Not a big deal but the amount of time and effort it took to get the correct info was a bit excessive, The stand up- The kids meal as well as my meal came out rater fast but the wings took a little longer (totally expected and understandable- wings always take longer). A man came out and apologized for the amount of time it was taken and told us we could pick out a dessert jar after our meal if we wanted. We told him thank you but we expected to wait since we know wings take longer. He was very sweet and again offered the dessert (id be crazy to turn that deliciousness down twice!) I dont know if he knew about the register issue or the apple juice or it was just the wings but we appreciated it. This guy took an annoying visit and ended on a happy note for the whole family, we really appreciate his effort and will remember him as saving the day. This place is in an odd location and there's a lot of construction going on. Decided to go in instead of going through the drive thru. The wait wasn't too bad and I got the tenders. The chicken tastes fresh and it was juicy. The breading wasn't too thick and it was cooked perfectly. I decided to get the cayenne ranch and spicy BBQ dressing. I really liked the cayenne ranch. The fries weren't all that great and were cooked a little too hard. Maybe it's a Texas thing but I didn't need fries and toast...maybe some good coleslaw instead of the toast and as an extra side one has to pay for. Overall I would go back again one day. read more

There is no shortage of fried chicken, chicken strip, and chicken salad places in North Texas. We have Popeye's, Church's, Raising Cain's, KFC, Chicken Express, Chick-Fil-A, Golden Chic, Chicken Salad Chick, Zaxby's, and the Latin alternatives (Pollo Campero, Pollo Regio, Pollo Loco). This puts Slim Chickens in an awkward position, it's entering an already saturated market with very little in terms of differentiation. We could also add the enumerate amount of wing places into the mix if you wanted to be absolutely thorough. The only thing I found to be vastly different from their competition was the desserts, which tend to come out a little bit warmer than they're probably intended to. The masonry jars are a nice touch. Otherwise they serve tenders, wings, and other chicken related items with the obligatory orange type sauce, fries, and white toast. While I agree this is a winning formula, it's been overdone. Sort of like IPAs in the beer world, everybody makes one, and some people believe it's the only variety of beer that matters. There seems to be a lack of creativity behind many QSR style establishments, and Slim Chickens is no exception. Perhaps another point of distinction is that they have chicken and waffles, but it's not a particularly exemplary example of the dish. Also the pricing is bizarre, a stand alone waffle is $4.99. For such a cheap item this seems a bit strange. I don't think Slim Chickens is any better or worse than many of it's competitors, but I also find that there's no compelling reason to visit one. read more

The WORST experience a customer can expect. Me and my friend went in to use the restroom . It was just to the right as we entered so we went in quickly. By the time we came out, one of the staff members were waiting by the door saying that the restrooms are for paying customers only and the lady was insisting in a harsh way to purchase something. we said okay and decided to purchase something as I didn't ask them in prior to using the restroom. we went to the counter and ordered a salad. They did'nt have the one I wanted and I could've just left for the same reason saying that you guys didn't have what i asked for. But I didn't do that and ordered another salad that they had. We were about to take it and leave and then she comes over again and says you can't leave. you both used the restrooms so you both have to purchase. That too in a very unrespectful tone. As the conversation went by she said "you guys come here and visit hello India(an indian restaurant in the neighborhood) but don't visit here". Obviously we're Indians and will prefer going to Indian places most of the time but that doesn't mean we won't try different kinds of food and not respect other while doing so. In the end she started threatening us saying she'll call the cops and file a compliant that we used the restrooms without permission. I purchased another salad, left them at the counter and walked out quietly without any further arguments. Just because we're international students and come from a different place doesn't mean that you can threaten us and pass racist comments. However, I was unpleased with the customer service and my observation of employees standing around having unprofessional conversations while customers are in line and waiting. Lots of young people who appear to need more coaching on professionalism and friendliness. Also, I ordered my strips tossed in my sauce of preference. This place is expensive for chicken so for the prices customers pay, they expect their wings to be fully tossed in the sauce. Originally I was very excited about this place and I'd easily give it a 5 but after recent experiences I'm feeling a little jaded. The first time I had trouble was a couple of months ago when I got the wrong side of fries which should've been fried mushrooms (which I'm obsessed with), no big deal I feel like perhaps that confusion was due to small human error. The second time was today, using the Slim Chickens App to order ahead I was pleased that everything was ready to go and the young lady who helped me was super nice. Once I got home that's when my trouble began. My 7 piece turned into a 3&1/2 piece instead & my side order of (you guessed it) fried mushrooms was barely half an order. Literally the side container/box had 15 mushrooms when its normally filled to the brim. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I've been lucky in the past and gotten get portions but it was a bummer. The App was cool though & gave the immediate option for cancel or call to make order changes. Then once you had placed your order it gave the option to rate the order/pick up experience. Ehh they messed up our order and my food was put together sloppily but it tasted okay.

First, this place needs a manager. After walking in (and being the only customer in the restaurant) and looking over the menu for at least 5 minutes, I still had to wait until the 4 teenagers behind the counter finished their conversation. I waited 15 minutes for my food that was ice cold. I returned the food and was literally handed a box of fresh food 15 seconds later. So, apparently they make fresh food but don't give it to the paying customers. I asked for ketchup packets and was handed a full size bottle of ketchup that the teen boy said I could keep because they were out of packets. They were also out of sweet tea and the young man who gave me the ketchup said it's only made once a day. The food is as underwhelming as the service. The chicken tenders are bland and so are the fries. The wings are pretty good. I definitely won't be back! Raising Canes is way better! read more

I've been to this location twice. The first time, the chicken was okay. Bland, flavorless gravy. The fries were chewy - it's as if they had been sitting around for a while. This second visit just now (4:15, 4/9) wasn't great. I sat at the drive-thru window for several minutes. I paid $11 and change for chicken and waffles and a regular side of mac & cheese. I just got home, and they didn't put my mac & cheese in the bag. I'm not going to waste my time and gas to drive 10 minutes there and 10 minutes back home for that, but I really wish my debit card would be credited back due to their incompetency. There are other chicken places in Las Colinas with better service and better food. Edit: I just called, and the assistant manager credited the cost of the mac & cheese back to my account. Stopped by for the first time today and wow, I am sad we waited so long to try slim chickens. I personally think the chicken strips were better than canes. Also the cayenne ranch chicken sandwich was delicious. The food came out extremely fresh. Also the service was top tier, I believe the manager on duty his name was Steven was so helpful. He walked us through the menu gave us some great recommendations and even checked on us halfway to ask if we needed anything else. Not very common to get such great service like this anymore. Chicken tenders are tender and juicy. Not overly battered either. Nice flavor. The French fries are really good. The waffle is really really good! I tried two sauces with my chicken tenders: gravy and mango habanero. Both are very different. My husband said the gravy was bland but I liked it. I could have easily cracked some more black pepper on it though I didn't see any on the tables. The mango habanero sauce is delicious. They make all of their sauces in-house so kudos to that. Tenders also came with Texas and it was also good. I like this place and think their food is delicious. The manager in duty was very helpful and all of the employees were friendly. A few of the tables needed to be bused but overall the place was clean and well kept. One complaint...the bathroom stall is awkwardly small and hard to get in and out of, and I'm a petite person. read more

Inside, there were many helpful employees assisting people who had never been there before, highlighting items on the menu. The cashiers were well-trained and provided quick service. Their menu is more extensive than Raising Cane's. Lots of different sauce types, although their signature sauce (Slim Sauce) was a tomato-based sauce that didn't add much to the tenders. You can get your juicy tenders grilled, fried, or a mixture. Also, you can ask them to spin the tenders in the sauce. I heard it makes them better. Picked up slim chickens via the drive thru for supper. Never been here before but had heard good things. Got a slim plate, a hungry plate, and a kids meal. We got french fries, coleslaw, and macaroni n cheese. All meals came with some dry toast without much butter on it. Nothing special. I got a variety of sauces to try out. We got Ranch, bbq, honey mustard, gravy, and this odd tasting and looking slim sauce. The best part about the food was the chicken. Really good chicken strips. Everything else was mediocre. The toast was dry and plain. The best sauces we had were ranch and gravy. The other sauces tasted average. Slim sauce was pinkish and had a strange taste to it. It was like they took cane's sauce or kfc's licking sauce and added something to it that jacked it up. Gravy tasted good but appeared pasty. French fries were ok. Macaroni n cheese was pale and didn't taste real cheesy. Coleslaw looked good but had a big vinegar taste to it. Restaurant was new and clean. Service was also good. Food was the most disappointing part of the visit. This place appears to be trying to be like a lot of different places in the market and all of the other places do one or two things better. It's pretty good, it'd say the second best chicken finger chain in the DFW area, behind Raising Cane's. The fingers are juicy and just lightly seasoned, the batter is thin and sticks to the chicken well. Not as crunchy as I'd like personally. There are quite a few sauce options, and I tried the slim sauce. It was a little too thick, lukewarm and a bit bland - doesn't come close to Cane's sauce. The toast was a let down, soggy and thin, not the thick Texas toast style you want. The chicken is pretty respectable, and may be just your style. For me, I'm sticking with the OG, but Slim is not a bad option. read more
