We tried this place for the first time. We were greeted and waited on by a nice young man. Super accommodating and helpful. Dark haired young man. On the ball. I ordered the chicken sandwich which had a good flavor but it was super small, like a child sized portion. Think 1/2 the width of chick fil la sandwich. It was not thick and juicy. It was also precooked. The ranch dip was good and the fries were a good portion. The iced tea was awful. Our hot wings were not very hot. Also precooked. This is the shocking part. When the older man came by our table and asked if everything was ok we told him the celery and Carrots we ordered were not good. The celery was waterlogged and a bit mushy. He picked them up and asked if we wanted fresh ones. We said no. They should have been fresh the first time. He takes our food that we paid for and removed them from our table. Ok, we think he's coming back with our money. Never saw him again!! That's poor customer service and stealing. We didn't ask him to take our food. One assumes if he takes it we will be reimbursed. I like this place. It is similar to Raising Canes, but not quite as good. It is; however, better than Chick-fil-a. Chicken - Hot, juicy, and tasty. Sauces - Lots of offerings, most of them are spicy, even if you think they wouldn't be. I'd never had spicy sweet & sour sauce until I ate here (not a fan of that sauce). I wish they had something on par with the sauces at PDQ or Raising Canes. Fries - They're pretty good. I liked them better than the fries at PDQ and they're about on par with Canes. Most fast food restaurants have better fries though. Toast - They really don't even try with this. It's just kind of there. It's barely toasted and often barely buttered. They really need to up their toast game or just get rid of it altogether. The only other thing we've tried here is the mac & cheese. It was pretty good. If there was a Raising Canes in Katy, I might not go back to Slim Chickens. Canes beats them with both their sauce and toast. But Slim Chicken the best option right now for fast food chicken fingers. I decided to try Slim Chickens as they are conveniently located in the same lot as my favorite department store. Well convenience is not always a good thing. We ordered the buffalo wings and strip meal. I was very disappointed in the flavor of the wings and strips. Both were very bland and I had requested well done wings and found that I had to come home and cook thing to my liking. The sauce appeared watered down and lacking flavor. I like the ones at PDQ better- I feel like they are better seasoned there and I like the dipping sauces much more at PDQ. But what really hit home was the mason jar cake. I had the 5 piece tender and substitute the fries for potatoes salad. I went through the drive thru and yes it was quick and the food was super hot. I would say the tenders were good, pretty close to Chick Fil-A. The only thing about the chicken I didn't like is that I'm not sure what kind of oil they used but it was too strong of a smell and taste. The potatoes salad was good, it has bacon bits in it. Not bad. But their dipping sauce? Mmmm pretty tasty. I got the honey mustard and the spicy bbq. Wish the spicy bbq had a little more kick to it but it was oh so tasty. I tried this place because of a friend's recommendation. I expected something like Canes. I ordered the tenders with fries .I chose honey mustard and mango habanero as my two sauce s(you get 2 free). The fries were good and crispy. Good flavor. The strips were fresh but as far as taste, they were ok. I went to the outlet mall one weekend and stopped in here for dinner. I just stopped in here on a whim because I liked the name. A staff member welcomed me as soon as I walked through the door. He could tell I was a newbie and told me about the menu offerings. I ended up ordering some wings and hot fried pickles. My wings were ok...nothing to rave about, but nothing to complain about. The friend pickles were hot out the grease just like I like them. My food was a bit pricey, but the restaurant was clean and the staff was nice and friendly. Awful food. Fried mushrooms served in a container floating in grease with the batter soaked and not even stuck to the mushrooms..Someone told me they were great. So I took my husband there. Politely told them they were too greasy to eat. They said they would get the manager. Waited and the manager never came. So we left. Will never go back. My sandwich was not fixed as ordered also. Will never return to another one of their restaurants. Was our first and last trip there. Sometime after posting this review I was contacted by Management apologizing for our experience & wanted us to give them another try on the house. I thought that was very professional of them to offer that to us. However I am confused as to how they obtained my name & mobile number, maybe it is available to businesses, I'm really not sure. Anyway my husband said no way. But one day we were hungry & decided to stop by. The manager said just give our name and they would take care of everything but no one knew anything about us coming in for a Free meal. After waiting we told him never mind that's OK. My wife had the 3 price chicken tenders which came with fries, a half full dipping sauce and toast (they call it Texas Toast but it's regular toast). I had the chicken and waffles with a side of fries. We both thought the chicken was ok but nothing special. It was juicy but lacked in overall flavor. We both thought the fries were pretty good. The waffle was the best thing we ate (I did give here some like a good hubby should). Their portions are not the biggest so when you calculate what you're paying they seem a bit on the high side. Like it said it was not all that bad but it was not all that great either, it was just lunch. Would we go there again if someone wanted to, yeah. The food arrived at my table in a matter of minutes, hot and fresh. I chose a refreshing raspberry tea which was an excellent choice.
