FIRST TIME VISIT! GETTING THERE: Another new eatery in the ever-growing community on Potranco/211. Was getting an oil change at the neighboring Midas and had two hours to kill and this girl can rock to a select playlist of 70's music but "It's raining men..." was not going down smoothly on a Saturday morning so I decided to take a short 45 second walk next door to Slim Chickens in hopes their music selection was more... palatable. As well as their chicken. THE DINING ROOM: Decent crowd considering it's a newer establishment to our area and tucked in a quieter spot of our growing neighborhood. The guests here look like regulars, families, one large group of guys who appear to be blue collar dudes taking a lunch break. The music is playing a bit loudly for my taste, but that's the vibe here, laid back, chicken n waffles, every flavor of dipping sauce and Sweet Home Alabama dancing through the air. 7 comfy booths, 2 partial booths (paired with chairs), 4 small tables with chairs that seat 4 each and one long high table at the center that seats 8. BONUS: They have a lovely, but uncovered patio outside that appears to be enclosed all around with waist-high rails. THE MENU: Hand-breaded all white meat chicken tenders - fried and crispy. They also have grilled chicken tenders, salads, fries, desserts in jars! HELLO?!?! Today I decide to go easy, after all my day has barely begun. I walk up to a kiosk and quickly place an order of the first few things that catch my eye- chicken n waffle combo with an upgraded drink to a hand-spun cookies n cream shake for an extra $2.49 charge. Despite being a relaxed early lunch hour, my food takes a bit longer than some others that came after I did, but I'm in no rush. The food runner who brings my food to my table apologizes for the wait and says to feel free to ask for assistance as necessary, but the workers do not seem to be present on the dining room floor, so even if did need anything, I'd have to head to the front counter anyway. No biggie becs I have all I need to dive in. Each table has a roll of paper towels and a bottle of Heinz ketchup. THE FOOD: Unlike most chicken n waffle places who serve thin, underwhelming waffle flaps, here you get a Belgian style waffle, thick and fluffy. 3 tenders and a large scoop of softened butter adorn the top of my Texas state shaped waffle and it is entirely covered with a thin-ish syrup to bring Miss Sweet and Master Savory together in the holiest of culinary matrimonies. It was delightful! The cookies n cream shake was fine. Thick, simple, not best tasting shake of its kind, but satisfying nonetheless. I love that they provide a thick boba-style straw (without the tapered and pointed end). Try this place out if you're in the area! We decided to check out the newly opened Slim Chickens. It was our first time ever and we were not disappointed! we made it right before the dinner crowd, the place was packed at 6-630pm. You can order either at the multiple self serve counter kiosks or with someone at the counter. Menu consisted of Southern comfort food- various levels of seasoned breaded chicken (tenders or wings)), salads, bowls, sandwiches, and southern sides like fried okra and mac n cheese for example. We each ordered the 5 piece chicken, spicy level, and upgraded the fries for a side salad. We were handed a table number and our orders were delivered to our table as soon as our food was ready. The chicken was not overly breaded or deep fried, which was perfect! The tenders were thick, juicy and generously portioned. The spice level was nice and there's a bazillion dipping sauces to choose from. I enjoyed the honey mustard. Meal also came with a drink and Texas toast. For an additional fee I swapped out the fries for a side salad. Service was excellent! We were approached multiple times to check for refills on drinks, throw trash away, you name it ! The manager came by as well to make sure we were happy and satisfied. Gavin and Alessandro were top notch. Clean new facility, just opened this past Tuesday! Great food and service. My first time trying this place. I got take out on a Friday night. Ordered some garlic parmesan wings and tenders. The first wing was overcooked and hard. The second wing had a weird taste to it. Not the sauce, but the inside meat. Like it was starting to turn bad. The fried mushrooms were sad. The breading fell apart as soon as I picked them up. The fries tasted good but were a little under done. The tenders were okay, but won't get them again. I will give this place another try because I understand there are off days, but I was not very happy with what I ordered this time around. read more

Slim Chickens has arrived to the 211 and Potranco area near Red Bird Ranch at last! My commute to the Culebra one is finally over! Visited the Slim Chickens on New Years afternoon around 5:30pm beating the dinner rush and upon arriving your welcome to order via the kiosk or the friendly cashier who greeted us. I am no stranger to Slim Chickens however just to introduce you there's tenders, wings, salads, wraps and chicken sandwiches available. I ordered the 3 and 3 of which included the 3 tenders original (now available in spicy btw), and the 3 wings buffalo sauced. The wings were fried to perfection paired well with their signature ranch and the tenders went well with their sweet tangy honey mustard served with a bed of fries and buttery crisp toast made for a great meal! The inside it's new, fresh design, bright with patio or rustic lighting, red and white interior and a bit smaller than the neighboring location off Culebra. The employees were friendly and accommodating and the place was busy I'm glad to see the warm welcome Slim Chickens has in this neighborhood, and hope to see it succeed, I'll be sure to return!!! read more

First time trying slim chickens and it def hit the spot. I need to come back to try everything else. I got a chicken wrap and my hubby got the chicken sandwich. I love how you could toss your chicken in a sauce and they have so many dipping to choose from. Self service, but the workers are friendly and attentive! The food is over priced for the delivery of it... my spicy chicken tenders were lightly tossed, they didn't look like they do in the menu. Chicken tenders were very tiny with not a lot of fries. I tried the banana pudding and the jar barely had any pudding the majority of the jar was whip. Hopefully these things can be fixed in the future for a better experience with slim chickens. read more

Went today for lunch, never been before. Ordered a 3&3 tenders and wings, snuck a fry as i left drive thru, and you could taste the oil like if it was dirty or old. Got home tried the tenders they are super small pieces and same flavor, tried a wing, same. Ended up grabbing a burger from sonic. read more
