As a native Louisianan I can't say enough about this place! Seeing other reviews it feels criminally underrated -- everything I've had is super high quality and extremely AUTHENTIC. On top of that, I can't believe they offer so many incredible allergy friendly accommodations to make things GF and vegan. I've been back twice now to have the brisket sandwich on a GF bun. The brisket is some of the best I've had and is a huge portion -- cooked perfectly, moist, and with a balanced tangy BBQ sauce. Their GF bun (also vegan) is delicious and holds its shape. The tots are not over fried have the perfect amount of Cajun seasoning. And to top of all off the sweet tea is exactly as it is in the South. The staff is very friendly, attentive, and welcoming and the decor is charming and again, authentically southern. I feel right at home. Thank you Slim's for the most accurate and delicious Southern BBQ experience -- really can't wait to come back and work our way through the menu.

The food was amazing. Absolutely blew my mind. The Bubba set is great if you are trying out but if all you want is meat I recommend you order meat individually. For sides the Mac&Cheese was great and the bread is also crazy good. Service was excellent, friendly and such. 10/10 definitely coming back

    Garden scramble (vegan)

Having seen that they cater to "vegans and carnivores", I checked their menu to see what was or could be vegan. They don't have much in the way of BBQ items that are vegan, but they have a pretty attractive brunch menu with default vegan and veganizable options. So we decided to stop in for Sunday brunch. From 10am-12pm, they have "happy hour", which includes $2 bottomless coffee -- a very good deal. For mains, I got the tex mex scramble ($14 plus tax), made vegan by subbing the eggs for vegan egg (I assume JUST egg) and the pulled pork for the BBQ jackfruit. The scramble part was interesting, served with lots of de-seeded jalapenos and pickled red onions, which gave it a bit too acidic a flavour. Still good, but a little unbalanced in flavour. The potatoes served with the main were very good, but I question why they serve the dish with what looked like a white hamburger bun; don't they have a nicer bread / toast option? 3/5 overall for this dish. My wife got the garden scramble ($14 plus tax), which comes default vegan with vegan eggs, Blue Heron cheese that worked really well with the dish, cherry tomatoes, and orange bell peppers, and served with the same potatoes and bun that the tex mex was served with. Her scramble was much more interesting and cohesive with the cheese and veggies. Very creative dish. 4/5 Service was top-notch: super-friendly, attentive and charming. Interior-wise, the place feels like a cross between a diner and some sort of old school cocktail, grungy lounge. All in all, interesting spot with well-priced brunch options, lots of interesting vegan options, and great service. Recommended.

Not your typical bbq joint, but it's Main st. so of course it's different. A bit of a hole in the wall but their ribs are some of my favourite in town. I will start off by saying that one should stick strictly to the bbq items and that some of their menu items should probably be avoided. The two items that I tried and would advise against are the Po Boy and the Fried Chicken. The fried chicken is seasoned very heavily and will absolutely evaporate your mouth. The Po Boy is just bland, no better flavour than a mickey d's filet o fish. But back to the good... As I already mentioned, these ribs are amazing and their peach chipotle glaze is quite unique. The brisket also had good flavour but could've used some sauce as the smoker did leave it a bit dry. Their mac and cheese is very tasty but also spicier than you would imagine. The serrano cheese spinach was decent as well but I didn't really care for the pepperiness. Overall a fun and unique spot in town worth checking out. The food is different, for better or for worse. Some will like it and some will hate it but I love that polarizing character. I should also mention that the music was terrible and they were playing loud EDM/nightclub beats all night which seems odd for a barbecue joint.

Came here on a Friday, the servers and bartenders were very welcoming. We ordered the nachos with chicken as an appy, pork butt with chili, And beef barbacoa with mac and cheese. We also ordered two drinks, the Long Island Iced Tea. And the beer with a shot of jameson. We ended up mixing the Jameson and the beer and it actually wasn't too bad. When our food came out, the sides were switched, but that was no problem cause we were gonna share anyway. Ambience was very authentic.

It's been a long time we haven't had Bbq. Recently foundout this newly opened homemade Bbq place and decided to give it a try today. We ordered some takeout for our easy Friday night and it's a perfect decision. The food had nice smoky scent which make us looking forward to try it while driving home. We had brought a bit of every kind of meats: * SMOKED PORK BUTT $8 (1/4 LB) : it's nice. Not dry but could be better. For 1/4lb you will only get a small bowl.. * PORK RIBS $15 HALF RACK : menu says "PORK RIBS $15 HALF RACK". I enjoy it a lot. It's a bit sweet and tangy with nice smoky flavor. It's a little bit of spice on it which kicks the flavor. Ribs are meaty as well. * HOT LINKS $7 EA: smoked pork sausage. It is a okay item for me. It's a bit too crumbly and dry for me. * THE FRIED CHICKEN $7 PER PIECE: "Buttermilk marinated boneless leg, breaded in cornmeal batter with country gravy. " The batter of the chicken is on the thick side but super crunchy. It's good that they pair with the gravy which gives the moisture to the meat. I like the gravy and I even use it to dip the sausage.. * side dishes - SMALL $4 : we choose serrano cheese spinach and corn breads for our sides and I think they are great. I love the sweet and savory corn breads that balanced out the heavy meaty meal. If you happened to be around Main St. Give Slim's Bbq a try. It's too bad we didn't tryout the brisket because we came too early. The brisket only ready after 5pm.

A Gastronomic Awakening in Chinatown! You don't truly know…read moreuntil you go--and now that I've been, I'm haunted. As I write this, I am literally still dreaming of the Hong Kong Style BBQ Pork. It didn't just "eat" well; it dissolved into a decadent, sweet, fatty puddle of pure bliss. Walking in, the vibe is quintessential Chinatown: a bustling counter, a glass case showcasing glistening roasted treasures, and a seating area that trades fancy decor for pure, functional authenticity. We were clearly out of our element, probably looking like deer in headlights, but the staff met our confusion with warm smiles. Then came Bobby--the absolute heart and soul of this place. We walked in expecting the standard American-Chinese routine, but Bobby whisked us away to a cozy table and treated us like family. He started us off with a fragrant jasmine tea so naturally sweet and floral it didn't need a grain of sugar--perfect for a biting winter night. While we flirted with the Happy Hour menu, Bobby took the reins. You don't say no to a man with that much charisma and passion! On his expert recommendation, we pivoted to the Two-Meat Combo (BBQ Pork + Soy Chicken) with a side of their famous Roast Duck. The food arrived in a lightning-fast 10 minutes, but the real treat was Bobby's play-by-play on how each dish was prepared. You can taste the pride in every bite. The balance was masterclass: a symphony of sweet, salty, and umami. The meats were succulent, the skins were shattery-crisp, and the glazes were perfectly sticky. The undisputed heavyweight champion, however, was that Hong Kong BBQ Pork. Imagine the best "burnt ends" of your life, drenched in a caramelized, mouth-watering sauce that demands your full attention. We left Chinatown BBQ feeling more than just sated--we felt enlightened. If you're looking for a "one in a million" meal, let Bobby order for you. You won't regret it.

The char siu and soy sauce chicken were both cooked perfectly, moist and flavorful. The green scallion sauce was not necessary but it was still delicious ! Would've been great over rice. The extra fatty char siu the server gave me to try was over the top! Perhaps the best char siu I've had to date. My server, Bobby? Did a fantastic job and was very informative and I can tell he really likes what he does thru his enthusiasm

Even without the free lunch set they are super great deals with most lunch sets $20 or less. I ordered a beef toro, pork and chicken lunch combo. It was a lot of food! The lunch set comes with salad, soup, side garnishes, rice, and the three meats. I love that they clearly label each meat. The sauce was delicious and the meats generally pretty good. I loved the toro - very fatty the way I like it and cooks quickly. The chicken was very delicious and juicy just takes much longer to cook of course. The pork was only OK. It wasn't the fatty one and kind of dry. My wife loved her udon and also we got a steamed salmon. You grill it in a closed container and it was good, the salmon goes well with the ginger. Also got a green tea mochi dessert and they stick a birthday candle sparkler thing on it. Fun and good! Ordering is super easy via an iPad like thing and they are pretty helpful. Love to come back!

This is also a good place for lunch or happy hour from 2-5pm. Service is excellent and Andy was very helpful with recommendations. I liked their modern and clean environment, cozy ambiance with comfortable booths. Meat was fresh and our combo set came with a salad, rice and soup - a nice balance of veggies, carbs and proteins. This place doesn't offer free parking and the parking fees are of Vancouver standard at around $14 for 2 hours. You can purchase parking time by minutes so perhaps you can park for 1.5 hours and cap it at around $10.50. They offer very good quality beef but no lamb options here. I really enjoyed that they offer hot umecha and dessert pairing of vanilla ice cream with rose or plum sake. Refreshing finish to the pleasant dining experience at Homura!
