So here goes: This little gem of a diner has been serving the "Best Hamburgers on the World Since 1948" - now I know that sounds like a claim that might be hard to live up to since people have their own ideas about what the best is. So to clarify, if you like a smash burger done on a flat grill, while you sit at the "bar" and watch the magic, and love fresh hot shoestring fries, and a soda with a consistently accurate post-mix, the you really need to try Gordon's. Make sure you have cash or use their helpful ATM. Service is fast and friendly, atmosphere is the true diner experience and never is heard a discouraging word. I highly recommend Gordon's Stoplight Drive-In. Listen, I loved this burger. It was served off the grill so quickly that I had to let it sit before digging in. I don't even get to eat my food this hot at home. Bacon was crispy. Cheese was melty. The fries were equally hot (and crispy). It's a small place with counter seating (a few tables outside), but we got there around 7pm on Sunday and had no problem getting a seat. The parking is a little rough but worth it , it's a small dinner on the corner of town and it gives you the old dinner feel you expect years ago. The dinner is small but has a fun aura - if you are looking for a quick sit , eat and go this is the place. You receive a dollar off for checking in but beware it's a cash only restaurant which I feel is not advertised anywhere easy to see before sitting so I had to spend an extra 3 dollars in ATM fees for my meal which I am ok with and no issue if you know ahead of time. read more

Gordon's Stop Light Drive In has been on my to-do list for a little while. I love smash burgers! I stopped in on a summer Saturday. I ordered a double cheeseburger with pickle and onion and onion rings. Everything was great! The burger was good and had the nice lacy edges from the flat-top. The onion rings were crisp. It's a nostalgic kind of place. Love the stools, the counter, and watching the burgers get made. There are napkins and condiments on the counter so you can help yourself. I don't get to Festus/Crystal City a whole lot but I'm sure I'll be back! read more

Run, don't walk to Gordon's Stop Light if you are a fan of smash burgers! The place is pretty small, but they offer some outside patio seating as well. The staff is super attentive and friendly, and the service is fast. The menu is small, and focuses on burgers, fries, and hotdogs but does offer a couple options for some other sandwiches. The prices are CHEAP and the value for your money is INCREDIBLE. Everything here is absolute perfection. I went with the Quadzilla, which is a 4 patty burger with 4 pieces of cheese. Amazing. Honestly, the burgers were really good. But I've never had such rude service. Big family walked in with lots of little kids and the looks and the comments were unacceptable. Stoplight is a community sample. If you're looking for fine dining this is not it, if you're looking for a historic restaurant with old fashioned burgers, look no further. The feature on the menu is a Jumbo Burger, this is a thin burger patty, with coleslaw, and BBQ sauce, I add pickles, and it's AMAZING!!!! The French Fries are always fresh, and plentiful. One of my kids elected to go with a non-burger option, grilled cheese, and they were thrilled with it. While Stoplight has remained fairly unchanged over the years, they have made upgrades, such as a buzzer system to let you know when your food is ready. I truly hope this restaurant is around for MANY more years. read more

I stop into Gordon's when I am in the area, which is not as often as I would like. I am a big fan of the sear that they are able to get on their burger patties. This sear has more flavor than any steak/smash burger you ever ate. In addition to the double burger, I have recently been adding a trash (my name for it) hotdog ... with slaw, chili and cheese.
