Favorite donut place I've ever been to! Literally wish I lived in San Louis Obispo or surrounding areas because y'all are so blessed to have such an amazing donut shop! When I called to ask about it the guy put some on hold for us, and I was so thankful he did that because when we got there it was poppin and a Thursday night and so they also had live music and if he hadn't put some aside I wouldn't have been able to have any because they were sold out behind the counter. My favorites are any variations of coconut, matcha, or thai tea. Their thai tea and chai lattes are pretty good, but I'm not one to be super picky with those drinks. Okay, so went here on my bf's birthday because his daughter wanted to go. I'm not big on donuts b/c they always seem greasy and heavy. I was pleasantly surprised. Not only were they light and fluffy but they were fresh too! And the choices are great. Something for everyone. I got the maple bacon bar which was maplely rich and the bacon just added a nice touch. BF got the creme brulee which really tasted like the real thing. The kids got egg nog and a chocolate filled donut. Everyone enjoyed what they got. The service was great and fast. Best donuts around SLO. This is also the first donut shop that I've been to that is very creative and colorful with their flavors/types of donut. You can almost call it a bakery with some of their creations. Dangerous side to this place is that they are OPEN 24 hrs. Upset a few friends when I advised them of that fact. The service is very friendly and the line usually goes quickly. Since they expanded next door from time to time they have live music or other entertainment. I try to just go during special occasions (birthdays, family visits, company) or a craving hits. So that means I'm there too many times or not at all for months. SloDoCo is one of the go-to spots for tourists, students and anyone who is craving a late night snack. As a student, it wasn't my favorite spot to study because of how loud it can get, lack of seating and smelling sweet doughnuts for a few hours can give me a headache. But if I was okay with not getting much work done and saying I was "studying" but really just wanted to have company, I would go there. They renovated the space in the last year or two, so now they hold concerts and open mic nights which are always showcasing local work. They have tons of doughnuts to pick from, and they always have seasonal doughnuts for whatever holiday or season is coming up. My favorite go-to classic doughnut is the maple old-fashioned doughnut. When you want a bigger doughnut that has a sweet and salty kick to it, try the maple bacon doughnut (maple bar with bacon bits sprinkled on top). Some of the specialty ones that I like are lavender with coconut shavings, lavender with rainbow sprinkles, chai cream cheese pillow (it's huge though so I usually share it), and matcha doughnut. For breakfast, their ham and cheese croissants are delicious - make sure to heat it up! They also have coffee, Thai iced tea, other drinks to go with your doughnut, and fun Star Wars doughnut stickers. If you are looking for a sweet fix but need a vegan option, they have a whole collection of vegan doughnut/cakes too! SloDoCo is open 24 hours, so I have picked up a box of doughnuts at 6am for a meeting (when they have all the doughnuts available, and at 11pm when I am craving something sweet. I love love love donuts, so it was a must. came around 7:45 pm. there were not many selections left, but there were a few that caught my eye. the worker was really nice! she recommended me to try the peanut butter pillow because it was the last one. I couldn't choose between the chai pillow, peanut butter, and peanut butter and jelly... so she said I should get all 3. that's exactly what I ended up doing hhahaa. it wasn't pricey at all. my friend got the jelly and cream filled puffs, maple bacon donut, and a Nutella pillow. I can tell why they call it a pillow, it's incredibly soft and fluffy!! but... when we left, we tried them all. and I believe that 3/4 of the donuts were undercooked with raw dough inside. which was really disappointing. the only one that didn't have raw dough was the peanut butter and jelly pillow. that was pretty good. but it was disappointing in the other ones. maybe next time will be a better success. read more

This time around with a donut craving, I wanted to try something a little different. Of course I got the donut holes that I love, only .20 a piece. The one thing that caught my eye was the Azuki donut, which has red bean paste in it. It sounded delicious so why not. I also got a Nutella one too since everyone was getting one. The donut holes and Nutella was on point. One thing though would be the red bean one. It tastes delicious and does have the red bean flavor, but the donut itself is sweet already and red bean paste doesn't quite shine through. The red bean paste kind of became an aftertaste. I would've like the flavor to be more prominent, but nevertheless, it was a very interesting donut. As for the cream puffs, the cream inside is much lighter and smoother than last time! Final Thoughts: First time seeing a red bean paste donut but it was surely interesting to try it. Donut holes all the way though! read more

SloDoCo is a gem and I immediately understood why looking through the display. There are so many flavors, pretty colors, and unique donuts that it feels heavenly. There are so many harder to find donut flavors like lavender and maple and berry-I'm looking forward to taste testing. I asked what was recommended and got the banana donut. I really loved the caramel bits and the cream was infused with banana. It tastes very fresh. The dough was soft, but had a nice bite to it. I'll definitely be back and can't wait to try many more flavors. Many had run out around 5 pm on a Friday. I'm hoping to come in at the right time and will try again as their hours have now been extended to midnight :) read more

I'd been to SloDoCo in my pre-Yelp days, on weekend trips up to San Luis Obispo. When Emily L. texted me a few days ago and said "you have 1.5 hours to decide what donuts you want from SloDoCo," I squeaked in excitement. This is one of those joints where the nostalgia makes the donuts even better. Their basic donuts are great, don't get me wrong. But what you're *really* here for is the specialties you can't find elsewhere, like the Thai tea, chocolate pillow, boysenberry cream cheese, and creme brulee donuts. I got two of the Thai tea, on a friend's recommendation, and one of the other three. Unfortunately, the Thai tea was the most disappointing. Someone in an earlier review accurately described it as tasting like vanilla with a hint of tea aftertaste, and that's about what it tastes like. Thai tea is typically chockful of condensed milk, but this one didn't even have that flavor. The other donuts, however, were amazing. I was especially a fan of the chocolate pillow, which is stuffed with chocolate and topped with a thick layer of ganache-like fudge and chocolate chips. True to its name, it was pillowy and light. I probably could have eaten three if I tried. The boysenberry cream cheese could've used more filling. The creme brulee was also amazing -- the sugar on top does melt given 10 seconds in a microwave. Despite this, the edges retain the amazing crispy feeling of a ramekin of creme brulee, and the custard interior is delightful. Can't speak to service, as Emily L. was the one who brought me donuts this time (bless her heart). However, this is my one stop every time I'm in SLO and I hope to be back soon. I am actually very sad that this place wasn't closer to me! I walked in to a line but it moved quite fast. Their selection was amazing! They had so much variety but I'm a simple girl so I wanted the regular donuts. I'm all about making the simple donuts the best! If you can't get the simple ones right then how can you make the fancy ones right? Mannn their regular chocolate donut was amazing! My kids were so happy! The guy told me their apple fritter was newly cooked that I couldn't resist it. I also love pb&j so I had to get their pillow pb&j. It's some of the best donuts I've ever had! I have been here maybe 10-15 times now, and I cannot leave ONCE without 4+ donuts (for just myself). I love how soft and sweet their bread is, and how the frosting is enough so that the bottoms don't feel dry to eat. Their maple bacon is the perfect combination of sweet and savory, their donut holes are 10/10 especially if you microwave them a little, and ALWAYS..try their seasonal/holiday creations!
