The view from the front of the inn

I spent one night here in October 21 on my way traveling through some national parks. This was my "nicer" stay for the trip as I was tent camping a lot of the time. I stayed here before a day trip into some slot canyons nearby. The property has a beautiful view and is well taken care of. The main building is clean and well taken care of. I really liked the dining room area. The breakfast that was provided was really good and plenty of food. My favorite part of it was the yogurt and granola and the muffin. I thought the staff and owner were very friendly and welcoming. I had a comfortable stay in a room a stones throw from the main inn. It was clean and comfortable. I'd be interested in a room in the main inn for my next stay. I appreciate the work done here and the care given for their guests. Great place to stay!

We stayed at the Issac Riddle Cabin over Easter weekend and absolutely loved it! The cabin sits up towards the top of a hill above the Slot Canyon Inn and just below the small rock cliffs. This place has all the character you expect of a cabin from 1899 with some nice modern touches added as it was moved and renovated in 1999. We thoroughly enjoyed the charm and character of this place. Every window is a stunning view. The deck that is covered out front and uncovered to the side, was a perfect place to sit and relax at the start and end of every day. Every morning I enjoyed coffee while watching the sun rise. The cats that are around the property (three of them that we noticed), would show up every morning a few minutes after I'd sit down. Rosco (owners dog?) would also stop by for a visit usually in the evening; though some times in the morning as well. He followed us on a couple of hikes around the property including when we walked down to check out the turkey farm, horses and some of the other sites around the property. The cabin is set back and up the private road about a hundred yards or so from the inn. It has it's own private parking. The feeling is one of being fairly secluded and private, yet it is convenient to the inn if you want or need anything. The beds were exceptionally comfortable. Showers and bathrooms were nothing like a 5 star hotel, but were certainly fine for us. The cabin is three levels, with small toilet closets (yes, very small) on each of the three levels. We will be staying at the Issac Riddle Cabin every time we are back in the Boulder / Escalante area -- absolutely love this place!

We spent three days at Slot Canyons Inn and had a great time. The place is immaculate and Mrs. Rex and her crew bend over backwards to feed everyone their individual food needs. Most nights of the week, they run the North Creek Grille from 6 o'clock to 9 PM. The food was very good--we ordered steak that came with a piece of lava rock hot off the grill that we could warm up our steaks. Delicious. Behind the inn there are pictographs and petroglyphs from the Fremont culture and later tribal art. Early pioneers scrawled their names as well, but the real find was discovered about 12 feet below the current surface, where artifacts and remains dated about 11,000 years old were found.

We stayed at Slot Canyons for one night last week. We arrived at check in time and found our name and room key on the desk. We found our room and settled in. The room was clean, nicely furnished and large. There was 3 large windows looking out over a pasture full of cattle and horses. A door led to a spacious balcony with chairs and tables. There was a large bathroom with a a huge jetted tub and separate double shower. In the kitchen, we found coffee and snacks. For breakfast, there was a large buffet with muffins, fruit, juices, homemade granola, and a wonderful "scramble" containing eggs, cheese, potatoes and more. Breakfast was wonderful! We are looking forward to visiting again next year.

Grazing pastures around Slot Canyons Inn!

A wonderful B&B located just a stones throw from the town of Escalante. Great laid back ambience with very modern southwest decor located on a working ranch. Jolette, who runs the B&B is a wonderful host & very gracious! They serve a delicious hot breakfast that changes every day, including Crepes & Quiches that are to die for. The farming & ranch pastures around the B&B provide a very relaxing environment to blend into over a glass of Vino! When you get back from your day's adventures, they have a fantastic restaurant where they cook your meal over a wood fired grill. From Ribeye Steaks to Pizzas, it's the best meal you'll find within 50 miles. Kristin serves you up with an infectious smile & Mack cooks them up to perfection as you sit out on the patio under the stars! And you don't need an Uber or LYFT to take you home!!! You won't want to leave once you arrive.

Our awesome room with jetted tub and fireplace!

And as of January 2025, the owners of the Grill have acquired the Lodge, so it's all one entity now. The Lodge has very comfortable rooms, a pond with an amazing variety of resident and migratory birds, a second-floor Great Room and balcony overlooking the pond, a hot tub, and ample grounds for children and pets to run. It's an easy drive up to Capitol Reef National Park for the day. Burr Trail Scenic Backway, starting right around the corner, is 67 miles of some of the most beautiful terrain you'll ever see. Don't miss the little slot canyon 11.5 miles down the trail! Last summer I took a pillow and some reading material and set up on two flat rocks near the back end of the slot canyon. It's nature's most gorgeous reading room ever! The Grill features vegetables and salads from their farm, local pastured beef and bison, and some of the best desserts ever. My two favorite orders are the Dinner Jenchilada with calabacitas (squash) and the Chocolate Chile Cream Pot. But they are both rich, so I have them on different days. Big secret -- it tends to be quieter in mid-summer! People think it's going to be hot in July, like other Utah areas like Zion, so they plan to come later. But the average July high is just 88, with an overnight low of 60, so the wonderful hiking trails nearby are pleasant for morning and evening hikes pretty much every day.

We were originally planning an RV trip, but work got in the way. Staying here felt like an RV adventure without all the hassle. We stayed in one of the Airstreams, which had full hookups, a split AC unit, a sink, and a mini fridge. There wasn't a restroom inside, but the nearby bathhouse was spotless and honestly felt like a spa. The property itself was amazing. There's a great lounge area, delicious food from the onsite food truck, and an incredibly friendly staff. The drive-in movie theater with classic cars was such a cool touch. Brownie and Max absolutely loved their stay. Ofland Escalante is located east of Bryce, and the remote setting meant some of the best stargazing I've ever experienced. I could even see the haze of the Milky Way. Each Airstream site has its own fire pit, and they provide one complimentary bundle of wood. We ended up buying more because we loved sitting under the stars so much. Max, being a city boy, preferred relaxing inside the Airstream with the AC, while Brownie, who was always a lap dog, stayed curled up with us outside by the fire the entire time. We visited during their opening weekend in March, so it was peaceful, not overcrowded, and there were barely any bugs. I'll always have a special fondness for this place because it was our last camping and road trip with Brownie, who passed away this past Sunday after years of fighting congenital heart failure. Thank you to the entire Ofland Escalante team for giving us such a meaningful memory. One of the few things on Instagram that look better in person.

I had the Single king room which was nicely furnished with lots of nice touches and perfect for my needs. The king size bed had a nice firm mattress but the pillows were kind of soft and didn't provide a lot of support. The tv was a connected to an antenna so there was only a limited amount of channels and sometimes the reception was spotty. But since the purpose in visiting Escalante is to get out and enjoy all the wonderful hikes and drives available this was no problem. The room has a microwave, small fridge, and a coffee/tea area with fresh ground coffee available. It would have been nice to have a small office chair so I could set up my laptop on the desk. The bathroom has lots of towels and a nice shower. The room has a back door that leads to a seating area in the back with a nice view of the mountains. The front of the rooms has a firepit and a grill and a nice seating area as well. The lobby closes at 6pm but the owners are available by phone to text or call. They are wonderful hosts. I had the pleasure of talking to and getting to know Terry and Wendy when I had a waffle for breakfast. They do not offer a free breakfast but they do have a small restaurant that sells incredible Belgian waffles and wonderful fresh ground coffee.
