We were in town for the weekend and man oh man is this coffee place popular. The line wrapped around the shop, so I expected this place to be amazing. Cute shop with seating inside and artwork all over the space. I ordered a chai and a hot latte. Both were not great . The chai was watery and my latte lacked flavor as well. It's just two people working which makes the wait long. I don't mind waiting just wished my drinks would be good. I think it's that they have so many orders lined up that they don't take the time and care to make the drinks. One person helps between orders at the register and the other is pulling shots but again it's only was only two people. Whenever we visit a new town, we check out the local cafes to enjoy a cup of joe and to read, talk, and people watch. Today we arrived at 7:30 and were able to park directly in front. The staff greeted us warmly and got us our 12oz regular coffee and 12oz honey comb latte immediately. It's a hospitable ambience with plenty of seating, inside and outside. They sell canvases along the wall of local photography of horses and horse riders in gorgeous nature. They sell Spearhead merchandise including mugs, shirts, hats, and stickers. Locals frequent here, bringing their dogs, most of whom were dressed in festive sweaters . We met a local businessman with a dog named Coco. If we lived closer, we'd frequent here for sure! Was so excited to check this place out but holy moly it needs a reset on their operational flow. Got here around 7:50am on a Sat morning and there were maybe 3 people in line ahead of us. I could see that the staff were all heads down at every station rather than one person always taking orders while another was making drinks, warming up food, etc. Got up to the front of the line and all of the workers were either making coffee or warming up food so it took a min or so to even get our order in as nobody was at the register to greet us right away. As we waited in line, the line continued to get longer and longer (probably about 10 parties deep at this point). The logo is super cool here and so is their merch. Inside the shop is very urban as well. The coffee was good overall and so was the jalapeño cheese bagel I had, but a coffee run should not have taken me 30+ min when there weren't that people ahead of me when I ordered. Came here when I was up in Paso for an event. It's a cute little spot and love the ambiance inside. It was really cool seeing everything they had. I went on a Sunday morning and the line was surprisingly long. I was in no rush and needed coffee so I didn't mind. They did move thru it fairly quickly. I got their Aztec Mocha which I did enjoy. We visited this place during our visit to Paso Robles and absolutely loved it. After driving from the Bay Area, we needed a pit stop to relax and get some coffee. This was the perfect spot for that. We ordered a latte and a muffin. Latte was delicious and our toddler loved the muffin. They had different types of muffins and pastries on display. Staff is friendly as they quickly took our order and prepared the coffee in time. Place is clean and there was ample seating in early evening. Woke up to a brisk morning here in Paso Robles. The sun is freshly hung in the clear blue sky and the birds are singing a song of thanks for a new day. With an air bnb full of family members from all corners of California, I thought "what better way to enjoy the end to this beautiful weekend than a nice hot cup of coffee?" So off I popped to find a hot cuppa Joe. I followed my nose down to this trendy little shop downtown and wandered inside. The baristas were so knowledgeable, and while I waited for my carafe of coffee to take home to the amoeba, I got to watch as the guy was roasting a new batch of beans right there! It's such a cool feature--being able to see who is responsible for your drink being so bold and flavorful. I really cannot recommend this place enough. Went on a Friday morning with my husband. It was pretty packed with what looked like locals. The coffee shop was very clean. The workers were somewhat friendly. We ordered the Aztec Mochas. Before ordering we asked if this had Mexican chocolate in it. They said no, but that they added their own spices. The drinks were ok. I didn't taste any spices. Weird, weird vibe here. Got a lot of glaring or odd looks from people when my group of 4 and our 3 dogs were hanging out here outside. The employees were not friendly or knowledgeable. I asked what flavor syrups they had and the guy said "um........, I think we have vanilla, brown sugar and hazelnut". But he really wasn't sure. He should have asked someone to confirm but better yet have them written somewhere. I remember really liking it here a few years ago but now maybe it's just local Olds that patronize it. Came to this coffee shop as it was right across from our hotel and had great reviews. The line was quite long (as it was a holiday), but it was relatively quick. Everyone was super friendly waiting in line. I did have a slight issue where I believe my drink was picked up by someone else, as my husband's came out, someone grabbed the next one, and left (who had not been waiting long), and a number of other drinks then came out (which still were not mine). Very cute place in downtown Paso Robles. Lovely art on the walls. Nice seating. It wasn't very busy when entering, and my friend and I got quick and friendly service. She ordered a mocha and asked for it to be on the less sweet side, and it was made perfectly! Just the right amount of sweetness. I ordered a cappuccino, and it was a little on the too smoky tasting for me. If I am in the area again I would definitely be going for the mocha my friend ordered. The vanilla latte was surprisingly just lightly sweetened and I could still taste the espresso, which was exactly how I prefer. My husband enjoyed the unique flavor of the Aztec mocha and the spices used in it. Kids said, "cookie was very good, chocolatey with a hint of salt." One of the most important characteristics of an excellent Coffee house is excellent coffee. Very few, if any reviews reveal the actual coffee...and barely reveal that this business does some great on site bean roasting. They do offer bags of beans in the shop. I discovered Spearhead Brazilian coffee down here in the Pismo area, what was a now defunct breakfast shop called Mellow Banana in AG. The Spearhead 5lb bag of coffee was not as impressive as the taste. It was nicely roasted & had citrus overtones, while not being bitter. It some ways in reminds me of some of the finest expensive Panamanian Giesha coffees that I have bought from Stack roasters online. Some Gieshas are some of the most expensive coffees on earth. This Brazilian coffee tastes to me like if a Geisha varietal was grown in Kona. In fact, I recently did find some interesting Kona beans online that come from small Kona family farms that have unusual beans that are not typical. This Spearhead coffee was robust enough to stand up to Waffles covered in real Maple Syrup. The fruitiness was evident in the aroma of the coffee. While it seems that the original of most of the offerings in the store for already made coffee are possibly not of an excellent single origin, one can buy a bag either online or sometimes in store. I loved their honeycomb latte! It's a bit of a wait to get your coffee as there are quite a few people who know about this place but it's not terrible. I'd say it was around 20 minutes from waiting in line to ordering and then getting our coffee. read more
