The grounds and the house were very clean and nice, but the owner greeted us in a very cold manner, and we felt like we had to walk around on eggshells around her. Maybe it was just us. To be fair to the owner, we did arrive 30 minutes before check-in as we were on the road all day and simply wanted to walk the grounds rather than drive around for 30 minutes more. The owner was not pleased at all that we were early even though we just wanted to park the car and not check-in. She made it very clear multiple times how this was an inconvenience to her. Again, this may have been a really off day for her as others were happy during their multiple stays there. But to be fair to us, we felt a B&B should be a warm welcoming place and we did not feel this way at all.

This bed and breakfast is a peaceful setting with comfortable rooms, gracious hosts, and delicious food. The location is a few short miles of scenic pastoral landscape from Spring Green. The only traffic we experienced was a tractor on its way to a family farm. Once there, you can hear the cicadas, crickets, and birds along with the breeze blowing through the nearby trees. There are walking paths with butterflies and other wildlife to see. It is an edenic setting that will refresh your soul. Our room, called "The Secret Hideaway," was tucked away on the lower level with two entryways, one leading out to a spacious patio. The room itself had a couple full beds and a futon. The bathroom is good sized with a nice shower. There is a TV we never turned on, but I'm confident it would work if anyone required screen time (I did not). There are dehumidifiers, fans and other devices that made the room extremely comfortable despite temperatures in the 90's while we were there. Your hosts, Elise and Kevin, are welcoming and give you a quick "lay of the land" upon arrival. There is a refrigerator for you to store your refreshments, but they provide wonderful baked goods, lemonade, iced tea (we came for Labor Day weekend) and other items in the small community kitchenette. There are plenty of comfortable sofas, chairs and other amenities that have been thoughtfully laid out for guests who are just relaxing on site. You'll see Kevin around the property during the day, and busily feeding guest at breakfast as he is the main chef. Elise greets you, shows you around, and introduces you to the ensemble cast of animals such as the family dog, chickens, and hummingbirds. Almost immediately, you feel welcomed. As you can see from the pictures, the food is as visually appealing as it is appetizing. Fresh fruit, vegetables grown on site and eggs from the resident chickens combine for a great meal to start your day. Everything was delicious and you are served at your table with plenty of coffee and juice available. Outstanding! If you are going to American Players Theater for shows, checking out the local art and music scene, taking in the beauty of southwestern Wisconsin, or checking out the home and inspiration of famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the Silver Star Bed and Breskfast Inn is a excellent choice for your lodging needs.

So we went down to the lounge to have some drinks and celebrate the start of our lives together. We were greeted by a truly friendly bartender and a small handful of locals and passerbys. Everyone there was more then happy to join in on the celebrating the occasion with us. Fast forward 3 years to today, we are back in Mauston visiting family and decided to stop into the Emerald Lounge and reminisce on our first night in here 3 years ago as newlyweds. Different Bartender, different faces, same friendly environment. I can not recommend this place enough.

We were there for the weekend staying at the Best Western attached on a Friday and Saturday. We loved the first bartender we had Connie on Friday she was very friendly and nice to everyone she was great. She always has been a good bartender every time we have been there and she was there we were excited to still see her there. Not so much with the next person that came in I'm pretty sure she has never bartended before and could use a course on customer service. We were not at all impressed with her. She was working on Saturday night when we went back up there. We thought we would give her another chance that lasted about an hour and we went somewhere else in town. They need to look at getting a different bartender before they lose more customers. We won't be going there when she is working if we do decide to go back.

Atomic Koi Cocktail Lounge in Fitchburg, WI has potential to improve if they had the right staff! I…read morehave gone there on more than one occasion where their bartenders were rude, unprofessional, and ruined the overall experience. My husband still loves coming to Atomic Koi Cocktail Lounge because it's a laid back lounge away from the rowdier young local college students bar atmosphere that's still vibrant with an eclectic vibe with illuminated fish tanks and a fun cozy ambiance. The crowd is mostly young working professionals near the area mid 20s-30s on up that are looking to unwind and have fun with their family/friends. Atomic Koi is a fun lounge that has games like a giant Connect Four, a pool table, shuffle board, and darts. They also have a good diverse cocktail menu that has something satisfying for everyone from martinis, tropical drinks, mojitos, beer, and more. Recently, my husband suggested the Atomic Koi to show our friends and family from out of town a good time in the Madison area. I ordered a cocktail and the bartender claimed they didn't have the ingredients to make the drink which didn't bother me but I have gone to Atomic Koi more than once trying to order a cocktail on their menu and the bartenders claimed they were unable to make it or didn't have the ingredients or maybe they just didn't feel like making it like some of their ice cream drinks and it wasn't busy in the moment. I then ordered the Golden Colada which is a fun pineapple tropical flavored drink! If they are unable to make a specific drink but the drink is advertised on their menu they should be able to make it consistently if requested otherwise take it off the cocktail menu permanently because patrons expect to be able to order a specific drink if its on the menu. My husband, friends, and family were having a good time. A back corner nook opened up where some people left and we wanted to sit there as a group however there was super sticky drinks on the floor under the table nook. One of my family members asked one of the bartenders if she could please mop up the sticky floor or find another staff that could. The bartender was super rude to my family member and said she wasn't going to mop it up until closing time at 1am. Then my family member asked if she would at least get someone to pull the mop out from the back and he would mop it up himself and she refused. She should have politely told my family member "sorry I am unable to leave the bar area but I will find another staff to mop it up when they are able to" but it was her rude don't care entitled attitude which didn't leave a good impression on my family members from out of town. I went back up to the bar and spoke to a different bartender who wasn't busy tending the bar and told him the situation. He did fix the situation and mopped up the sticky floor when he was able to which I appreciated but he looked over it like he didn't really want to be there not really friendly. If Atomic Koi could consistently recruit/ retain more professional, trained, personable, friendly bartenders and actually follow through in making cocktails actually advertised in their cocktail menu , its a great spot to go to for a great drink and a fun place to unwind!

There was even a children's section where kids could play around and be supervised by a parent with a drink or something. Great classic kids books in there too -- love the Busy World of Richard Scarry. I would have given this a 5star review because my food was overall 5star, but there were just too many issues in timing and service and such not to make note of. This was an event where all tables were sat at the same time. Tables were getting their first appetizer before we even got our drinks, and our drinks didn't come out together at all. One person in our party had Celiac but they forgot to bring out a gluten free appetizer, so the rest of us finished our appetizer before she even got hers. Probably not what staff was used to with everything at the same time, I get it, it just wasn't a very good start. It was also freezing to start inside and I kept my jacket on through the first course. Then it warmed up. Old building with radiators, also totally get that, but if the seating was staggered and that front door kept opening, it would have been miserable. After our drinks and appetizers, timing worked out on the rest of the meals. Everything was wonderful and the menu was so thoughtfully laid out. The only other snafu was our secondi course of pappardelle with wild mushrooms had no mushrooms in it, like zero. The gluten free dish had a ton of them and looked really good. It wasn't worth bringing up given the timing issues, and even without the mushrooms the pasta was absolutely delicious. Scallops were cooked to perfection, though if the risotto had saffron in it I couldn't tell at all. Still, I didn't leave one single scrap on ANY of my plates. Despite any issues, the staff was so kind throughout and they were all obviously rushing around trying to get everyone everything they needed. Great food, lovely staff, amazing ambiance -- yes, I'll definitely try to come back here if I'm ever out this way.
