Wonderful sandwich place! They have a great variety for all types of tastes. Two great vegetarian choices as the john's veggie bug sandwich and health bug wrap. Smacky's is great. Went there to get a french dip for a client and almost ate it on the drive to his office because it smelled so great. Went back after that meeting for a Chipotle Chedder French Dip which was unbelievable. The meat was so tender you couldn't tell when you were biting into bread or when you were biting into the meat. The taste was amazing. Ordered catering from them the next day for another client and the presentation was great and the food was delicious. I ordered a BLT and chicken gumbo. After I ordered the cook took the time to come out and ask me if I wanted my bread toasted in the toaster or in the panini press. I went with the pain it press, he added cheese to the outside of the bread and it was awesome! The people are really friendly and the food was good. The smackaroni and potato salad is really popular so come early if you want a bowl. They were out by the time we sat down for a late lunch. Smacky's is the place to go if you're looking for a great sandwich place in the Spokane area. It could be a bit of a pain to get to depending on your plans, but if you are heading through Spokane Valley you should definitely make a point to stop by. The sandwiches were excellent. I had the Pastrami Ruben, which was delicious! I also recommend the Chipotle Cheddar French dip and the John's Veggie Bug. You can build your own sandwich or have a soup (or salad) and 1/2 sandwich combo. We didn't try any of the wraps, but they looked good. The chilly was yummy and so was the corn chowder. What I didn't expect was the quality of service. They, everyone - all of the staff, were incredibly friendly, courteous, and helpful. As a simple example, one of the members of the staff noticed that my wife was sharing her sandwich with her mom. He asked us if we would like another plate, which is pretty typical. What was not typical was the plate he brought back had a full serving of pretzels and a pickle. We were not special, they treated everyone this way. read more

We tried this place out a few weeks ago. I had driven by, read reviews, and was excited to try it (due to my obsession with sandwiches)! We did not eat in the restaurant, but ordered for pick up. I had a turkey club, and my husband tried one of the hoagies. We also ordered sides of their macaroni and potato salad. I just didn't really care for any of the food. My sandwich was "meh". The hoagie was better, but not really my thing. The macaroni & potato salads were terrible. I also have a deep fondness for both of those things but that was the worst of each I've ever had. Very bland, almost totally flavorless. When I ate it all I could think was that I was wasting perfectly good calories on this?! I've been in numerous times and have always order a sandwich or wrap. The staff is friendly and very helpful if you've never been in. I have never had their hoagie, so decided to give it a try. I ordered the pastrami hoagie and my friend order the French dip. My friend and I kept talking about how good the bread was. It's like a mini French bread loaf and is light and crisp.
