The cashier was VERY helpful. I told her I had never been before, and she handed me a paper menu as I was trying to squint to read the wall menu (I forgot my glasses ). Unfortunately, at 10 am on a Monday, they were out of bagels (my reason for visiting). They had other offerings though, and the pear and goat cheese pastry had caught my eye when I walked in. It's served warm with bamboo flatware, and not too sweet, which is perfect! For my drink I normally drink black coffee, and I asked the cashier if the rosemary brown sugar was very sweet. She said she wasn't much for sweets either, and that a splash in nitro was her go to. She was absolutely correct! I wouldn't drink it every morning, but the rosemary was balanced well with the slight brown sugar and was perfect. Will definitely try to make it back here again. read more

Small Point is a cute cafe right in the heart of DownCity Providence. They have an extensive array of drinks, pastries, and sandwiches to choose from along with many tables to sit and work at. The staff are always super nice and if I could rate them separately they would get a 4/5. Since I'm rating the whole experience I'd have to give it a 3/5. I'm a year-round iced coffee drinker and the quality is inconsistent. Sometimes it tastes a little off, sometimes it's right on the mark. Maybe it's the coffee maybe it's the oat milk? I have been meaning to stop by this cafe since arriving to Providence because it just looks so cute. I've loved the Small Point Cafe as a refuge from the rat race of Downtown Providence ever since I was a high school intern at Trinity Rep down the street. While they have changed some of their menu items (boo to losing my favorite item, the turkey, cheddar, and apple sandwich), this charming and unique little spot has remained pretty much a consistent element to my day every time I find myself on Westminster Street. The cafe is cozy and adorable, with ample seating perfect for hanging out and getting work done or catching up with a friend. Eclectic artwork by local creatives line the walls, and they even have a community chalkboard where you can doodle to your heart's content while you wait for your beverage. They have a wide selection of drinks for coffee lovers and haters alike, and as I fall into the latter category, I particularly love their Blood Orange Iced Tea, a bright and citrusy herbal tea that is very refreshing, even during the winter, when one should really be ordering a Taro Lavender Latte or Ginger Turmeric, which provide a nice warm up when Rhode Island temperatures drop. Don't miss out on ordering food at Small Point! I recommend the creative Toasts, which can be ordered as one of their premade selections, or adventurous folks can create their own. I love a whole wheat toast with dill cream cheese, lox, and fresh tomato. Yum! They also have salads, sandwiches, fruit parfaits, and a selection of pastries. This place is great! Holed up here to take a zoom class on a Saturday morning, and this place was just what I was looking for. There was free wifi, a clean bathroom stall, and ample seating. The seating was really colorful, and plants were placed throughout the whole interior. The location is great, and a walk away from symposium books and cute stores. I got the latte with oat milk ($4-4.50) which was decent, I'm not picky with coffee. I also ordered the chia pet ($5) and avocado toast ($7). The chia pet comes with creamy yogurt, overnight chia seeds, fruit and granola- this was decent! The avocado toast is supposed to be served on multigrain but I think mine was served on a white bread? Yummy nevertheless, and i enjoyed the addition of roasted pumpkin seeds- I'm going to start putting this on my toast lol. I've only been here once and only stopped by for breakfast. The drip coffee was fine. No complaints there. I do wish they had some cinnamon available. But I've decided I'll just start caring some in my purse. Oh what you got there in your bag? You know, some hot sauce and cinnamon- nbd. The 2 starts is mostly for the breakfast sandwich. I ordered the egg-cheese-bacon on whole grain toast. The thing just had 0 flavor. I had to add pepper/salt/hotsauce (kudos though to them having cholula) to motivate myself to finish it. The bread tasted like cardboard. The bacon was impossible to bite through. I ended up accidentally biting the side of my mouth trying to get through the bacon. I don't like bagel sandwiches, so won't be trying those out. I've heard great things about their lunch sandwiches, so willing to come back and try those out. The actual atmosphere and look of the place is cool. I had an hour left to catch my train, so it was a nice place to keep on reading my book. Uncooked spaghetti sticks in place of regular wood stirring sticks is great in concept, but in real practice they break apart very easily. Located on the charming Westminster street in the city, this is a regular haunt for students in the city and is always always packed! The interior is very fun and green giving it a very peaceful ambience. They have a combination of chairs, armchairs, tables etc to cater to everyone. I used to get coffee from here and sometimes work here too as it's an ideal work spot as well. They have really good hot coffee ($2.95 for large). It has great flavour and is very well priced as well. They have many other hot and cold drinks almond with well priced sandwiches and salads ($9.00 approx) as well. It clearly is an affordable option for students. I would like to try the food but I alway hits get coffee and a snack somehow. Note : They have bathrooms in the back. They have pretty reliable wifi and ample seating with outlets to keep you charged up (the coffee helps, too). Loved the plant life, Tea steamers, and natural light from the big window. It was definitely busy when we came in around 12:30, but settled down around 3ish. Local parking is metered and last for 2 hours, so I had to move my car around several times. Cute little coffeeshop on a cute street. I came with my sis mid-morning on a weekday, so we were basically the only ones there. Staff taking our order was super nice! With the quirky art, exposed brick walls, furniture, and indoor plants, the whole place feels super homey and cozy. Any sandwiches can be turned into a salad, which is what I opted for. My sister got a breakfast sandwich on a croissant. Generous egg and meat portion (she actually ended up picking out some of the egg). I saw that they had a Taro latte on the menu, and I will definitely try that on my next visit! Got the C salad (chicken salad) which came with bread, the chicken salad sandwich which came with corn chips, a peach pastry, a coconut water. Am I forgetting something? I think that's it. Anyway, it was so much food, I only ate half of it. My only gripe is that the bread the sandwich comes on is too tough for a sandwich. It's more suited for "appetizer bread..." you know, the kind they give you to hold off your hunger at sit down restaurants. The salad was delicious. Small cafe on Westminster. I met my friend Ralph for lunch, it was my first time. They have a list of 5-6 different sandwiches that can be made with bread, salad style or wrap style. When I asked if they wrap was toasted, they said no. Then I asked if they had anything toasted or warm.. The lady told me about the spinach pie, but it could only be warmed in the MW...no toaster or grilled option. I got it and when I received it, the center of the stuffing was COLD. I had to ask for the to reheat. The staff is kind of not very friendly nor pleasant...just OK.... Not a good tasting pie after all. Not great service after all... Not many food choices after all. There are many solid, well-founded, positive reviews here of Small Point, and I have to pause to quote Dave Mason..."There ain't no good guy, There ain't no bad guy, There's only you and me and, We just disagree...ooo-ooo-OOO O-o, O-o-ooo." I can see it - this place is purpose-built for hydrating, caffeinating, and sustaining a laptop user while making them feel good about their lifestyle choices, all near the heart of fair Providence, convenient for most anyone to walk into, and settle into. And that's Kool & The Gang. The decor is solid (including those plumbatronic robots in the bathroom), the set-up within is varied and commodious, the front of the shop serves as a great window on Westminster life passing by, and they have food and coffee, as one would expect. But to me, the atmosphere feels forced and stringent. It did not appear to compute for the staff when my young sons tagged along with me, despite reasonable and quiet behavior from them - we all just wanted some baked goods and a drink in a timely fashion, and then to sit and enjoy them by the colorful chalkboard mural. If that reaction from them was the sum total of the knocks on it, I'd simply chalk it up to "Good for Kids?...less so," and go about my business. No harm in that, and no points deducted, either. But the food menu felt limited and unoriginal. On an uncrowded Sunday morning, service was slow both in taking my (straightforward) order and in delivering it. I was charged incorrectly...twice. When I add those up, I can safely say I've experienced better. I have a real desire for virtually everything that sets up shop on Westminster to succeed - it's a strong, history-ridden corridor that deserves love, attention, foot traffic, and interesting denizens. And I wish Small Point well - I just wish they were a little bit friendlier, and more on their game. Four stars seems to be the rule of the day from everyone else, and maybe I got a heaping helping of whatever caused the one-star deduction from everyone else. As someone perpetually searching for a cute "work from home" cafe, I think that Small Point fit the bill! The coffee and breakfast sandwich were both very good, and there's fast wifi! Lots of different kinds of seating (diner-style tables, couch, tables along the wall, and one big table) as well as a few outdoor seats, but you will want to come earlier rather than later to secure a seat (by 10 AM on a Friday, the cafe was packed!). Very cute cafe, sporting local art, with a very urbany-hipstery flow. Major points on location, and utilizing the building to add to their charm. It has the feel of neighborhood cafe, even though it's in the heart of downtown. The staff was very friendly, and was quick to greet every person that walked in the door. They didn't have much of a sense of urgency, that's for sure, but they made up for it with personality and conversation. The menu is creative and has great options for those of us who aren't into mass-produced, highly-processed and over-priced food. My partner is a vegan, and was delighted to see all the different options that he could eat. Unfortunately, my latte wasn't good. At all. To be fair, the barista was having huge difficulties with the espresso machine, and there is a strong possibility that it affected the taste of the espresso. It was EXTREMELY bitter, and had a faint chemical taste to it. I had to throw it out. I can't remember the last time I had to throw away coffee because of the taste.
