After chatting with one I sensed ordering one of their specialty lattes was a must, but there so were many options. I asked the barista to surprise me. She was awesome about my request, took it a step further and did not tell me what I ordered until I was finished it. The barista made a Tuxedo Latte and it was delicious! Smoky Mountain Espresso has a very relaxed atmosphere with a cozy fireplace. This is the kind of coffee shops that makes you feel warm and welcomed. Plenty of seating is placed throughout the shop including an abundance of outdoor seating. My favorite part of the coffee shop, besides the barista, was its Pay It Forward operation. Coffee sleeves with handwritten words of encouragement and love were posted on a bar in the middle of the shop. Just normal people wanting to share the blessings of a cup of coffee with others. I told my husband I'll go in after he gets back (so we didn't have to take the kids out). We he came back out the first thing he said when get got back in the truck was "those guys are really cool". I wasn't sure what to expect after hearing that. But as soon as I walked in I felt welcomed and just a great warm embrace. They are a great team with amazing costumer service. I told him it was my birthday and that I had wanted coffee and cake. He took the bill and crumpled it in his hand. The portion of cake that he presented could have easily served three! I left the top frosting. The chocolate cake was moist and the frosting between the layers was German chocolate. Available seating offerings were a booth, table, or a table al fresco. It had the beer garden appeal. I opted to sit inside. The restaurant is also very family oriented (as are most things in Pigeon Forge). The adorable Bavarian exterior totally charmed me and gave me all the nostalgic feels from when I used to live in Germany. Loved the unique vibe--it made this visit feel extra special.
