I am beyond disappointed with SmallCupcakes. They completely ruined one of the most important moments of my life--my gender reveal. Not only did they get the cupcake flavor wrong, but the cupcakes didn't have the filling that was supposed to reveal the gender. It was a total disaster. I contacted them ten times via phone and email. I left multiple messages with staff, and after days of persistence, I was finally told to come by for a refund. But every time I went during their posted business hours, they were closed. And i went 3 different days and times. Honestly have no idea how they run a business. This is, without a doubt, the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They were unprofessional, unresponsive, and unreliable. I regret trusting them with such a special occasion. This location used to be 10 star!! The best tasting, extremely moist, and great flavor combination cupcakes. The employees were always as nice as could be and extremely helpful. The inside was spic and span (showing my age there ) always!!! The bathroom was the cleanest I have ever seen and could rival Buc-ees! lol. Their cupcakes on the high side but no higher than any other bakery or going to Crumble! So WHY did I give it 1 star right? Well, the last two time I was there, probably a little over a year ago, most was the same except the cupcakes barely had any filling in them and they only had a few flavors both time I had gone. They claimed they had been bought out both times. Honestly, I didn't buy it either time as you can tell when someone is making something up. So the last time I said it would be a while before I went back to waist my money on a dozen subpar cupcakes. So I did wait a long time! I have been by several times in the last few months and each time between 2:00 and 7:00. Not once have they been open! I stopped by this location to grab my dog some pup cakes for their birthday. There were torrential downpours outside, and I made sure to check the hours to verify they would be open. I pulled up and all lights were off. I checked the hours on the door, they should be open. Absolutely NO sign on the door saying for some reason they were closed during their open hours. I ran, in the rain, a few doors down to Tiff's Treats to see if they sold pup cakes. When I was running back to my car I saw two ladies walking OUT of Smallcakes locking the door behind them! Where were you when I was jiggling the door to open it two minutes ago! I tried to run to their car, but they drove off. What the heck!!!!! This is unacceptable for a business to have open hours and then to be closed, without any signage, and then workers actually there with the door locked!!!! I will never return. This is absurd. It smells like carrot cake and all the pup's I've given to goes crazy for them. One order contains 4 mini pupcakes w/ mini milkbones on top of them. This thing is like crack to my pup. He knows whenever I'm home with pupcakes. If he sees the container full or empty, he goes crazy and does every trick in the book before I even tell him to. He'll sit, lay, roll, spin, and shake hoping I'd give him the pupcake as a reward. That boy is a cheater. I'd ask him to do one trick and he does all of them for these pupcakes. read more

Although hard to choose, the birthday cake was my favorite out of the bunch. The chocolate flavor in the red velvet and the cookies and cream cupcakes was heavenly. Smallcakes was my absolute favorite cupcake company since arriving in the Metroplex. The cupcakes are so fresh and moist. Much more so than their competitors. The icing was swirled up high so you got icing in every bite. My local shop was bought out last year and the new owner(s) decided to raise the prices. Not a good idea as the cupcakes were already expensive. Then, during my visit over Christmas, I learned that the company changed the recipe of the icing. It is now thinner and will not hold up if they put more than a small topping on the cupcake. Another bad idea. There was nothing wrong with the recipe to begin with. I will no longer purchase from them. I don't know why companies can't leave a good thing alone. read more

Does a perfectionist frost and decorate these? Because I think so. I chose the wedding cake (yellow cake with a hint of almond) and hot fudge sundae (chocolate cake with fudge inside and nuts and a cherry atop the frosting) to try. Each cupcake is $3.75. Cake portion is super moist and fresh here, but... the frosting is way too sweet! It was a killer for me. The sugar overwhelmed any other flavor, and I ended up not eating half the frosting. Cup cakes are so good! I had the red velvet, strawberry, and lemon. Out of those I love the lemon. The cake is moist and the tartness of the lemon and the sweetness of the buttercream are a match made in heaven. A little pricey for a cupcake, but as treat I will definitely splurge occasionally!! Cute package rounds out the experience! And the shop I went to located in Firewheel Mall has the kindest staff and they are consistent. My kid and I rushed over after dinner 15 mins before they closed and was disappointed that they only had a few of the pink chocolate cupcakes left. I'm glad that they're doing so well that they sold out of everything, but there weren't even a lot of ice cream flavors left. So I got 2 of the pink chocolates, some pupcakes and my kid got ice cream. The cupcake is pretty, but man, it was an attack of pure sugar. It was a single note of SWEET. I only ate a few more bites of just the cake part, which I have to say, was very similar to a box mix, which is not *bad* just expected more. I wish I could say that at least my dog enjoyed her treats, but she also did not like the pupcakes (to be fair, she's a peculiar pup who doesn't like peanut butter but I'm sure her dog cousins will enjoy them). I used the $15 voucher that I paid $8 plus an extra $1. I would not have been happy if I paid $16 for that! I hope that the other cupcake flavors have more depth or have a different kind of frosting - like cream cheese or whipped cream. I guess I will never know. My family was in the area and stopped in without any plan in mind. It's an adorable shop and the owner was so kind! We ended up leaving with a pint of banana pudding ice cream and 4 cupcakes!! (German Chocolate, Lemon Drop, Wedding Cake, Red Velvet). They were all delicious but the wedding cake was our favorite!!! The icing on the red velvet was so yummy too! Don't waste your money! I was hesitant to try this place after reading the reviews. I enjoy cupcakes, but we were looking for ice cream. With our local Braums and Baskin Robbins temporarily closed for remodeling, we decided to try something new. First of all their website is out of commission, so you can't see the flavors ahead of time. There was a very small selection. Only half of them were labeled. The employee who was working was very difficult to understand. She barely spoke English and did not understand my husband's order. We paid $10.25 for two small scoops of ice cream. The employee did not get our order right, and they were out of spoons. She gave us the tiny sample spoons to eat double scoops of ice cream?!? I do like that they have pupcakes, as we had our dogs with us. But, they charge $2.50 for basically a tablespoon of cupcake and a tablespoon of icing. Andy's offers free sample cones for pups, and you don't pay for them. Long story short, save your money and go to Crumble or Andy's. Quality of Product: Excellent ( which most locations tend to have similar quality - I just wouldn't choose this one). I was in the Garland area running errands. I live in the Frisco/Plano area. I walked in but didn't notice they weren't taking cash. So the young lady tells me as I'm about to check-out that they were accepting cards.
