    Italian cream cake

Millstone made our wedding cake & grooms cake. Our guests raved about the Italian cream wedding cake and chocolate grooms cake. The cakes were also decorated beautifully!

I really like this lovely & quality bakery. I found this place on Yelp & was pleased to know how close it was to my Airbnb house! My FAVORITE desserts were lemon delight cake & chocolate chip brownie. During a stressful trip for a family member's medical/surgical journey, I needed something sweet to soothe my emotional distress (this was after I prayed multiple times; meditated with Buddhist mantra, chatted with close friends, and read a self-help book that a gf brought me, etc.). I still needed another variable to mitigate what I have been through. The slice of lemon cake helped out!! The next day, I had the brownie, which was soooo delicious & not overly rich. I also loved the cozy interior of the bakery! Highly recommend this place for quality desserts.

Millstone Bakery has the most amazing, delicious brownies with Belgian chocolates among all of its other wonderful treats, cakes, and creations. The bakery is Belgian family owned. Their motto is "We love what we do, so you love what you eat!" and from the first to the last bite, you can tell that Francesca puts a lot of care and attention to details into all the baked goods. They also have a wonderful breakfast and lunch menu and seating area that makes it perfect to meet up with friends for some dessert and coffee. Francesca put together a custom order of brownies for me, and everyone that I gave them to love the brownies and gave it rave reviews-- "Yummiest Brownies Ever". You can actually taste the quality and richness of the Belgian chocolates that she uses. Thank you, Francesca! You and Millstone Bakery are the best!

A friend and I stumbled upon Millstone Bakery since it is near a yoga studio we've been visiting. Overall, the experience was okay. The staff seemed a little distracted and were a little slow for something that seems like it should be a "grab and go" type eatery. I ordered an iced coffee, but they brought me a hot coffee. They corrected this issue, so not a big deal. I wanted something light since I had another workout class after lunch, so I had a soup in mind. They had "soup of the day" on their menu as well as soup combos, but no soups were available at 11 on a Saturday. My friend ordered and paid for something, then afterwards they came by to tell her they didn't have it - so she had to pick something else on the fly. Maybe it was just an off day for them, but all of these small things added up and lowered the overall experience. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant. It would have been nice if they'd given the option to heat it up. It was served cold, and I think I would have enjoyed it more if it was warm. The bread of the croissant was delicious and airy, but I would have liked a little something else on the inside. It was mainly just bread with itty bitty slivers of ham and cheese. Made for a good snack. My friend and I shared a brownie ball dessert. It was very, very sweet. We enjoyed it, but we were glad that we shared it. For clarity, I'm a savory over sweet person. It looks like they have some amazing options if you have more of a sweet tooth. Their coffee was not bad and the other bread options looked amazing! I'd definitely come back to pick up some coffee and/or bread.

Millstone did a fabulous job on the birthday/retirement/tennis cake for my husband's celebration. It looked great and tasted even better!

If you're sick and tired of going to the mainstream coffee places, come and try out this family owned and operated bakery. You won't be disappointed. Their bake items are very delicious. I've been here a few times. I love their croissants. You have a few options to choose from: plain, almond, chocolate. I tried their almond croissant. It was flaky, buttery, and toasty. They also have scones, which come in different flavors: blueberry and maple pecan. I've tried them all. The most I like is the maple glazed pecan scone, which is buttery, nutty, and not too sweet. One thing I have to say is they have savory scones - bacon and cheddar, which you don't find very often around. They have a variety of breads made from scratch, like French baguette, sourdough, and brioche. I bought a loaf of the multi-grain bread home among other items. It was as fresh and aromatic as you could get. Ask for a freshly baked loaf of bread of your choice. If available, they can grab one from the kitchen for you. Their drink menu is not too extensive, but you can still get a hand-crafted latte, espresso, or cappuccino, or just a house coffee. They also have some delicious sandwiches and soup for lunch. Come and check it out. Get a drink, baked item, dessert, or sandwich, You'll find something I talked (or didn't talk) about here you like.

If you want a specialty cake this is THE place to get it! With six days notice, Francesca created a once-in-a-lifetime friendship/birthday cake for my friend and myself. It was so beautiful we were actually reluctant to cut into it. But we did! It did not disappoint! The chocolate cake was dense and the fudge icing was thick. SO DELICIOUS!!! Millstone Bakery is now my "go to" for any kind of cake for any kind of occasion. Simply the best!

An absolute gem in Richardson -- we'll definitely be back!…read more La Casita Bakeshop completely exceeded our expectations. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was warm and welcoming, and our server Diana made the whole experience. She was knowledgeable, genuinely enthusiastic about the menu, and so pleasant to talk to -- exactly the kind of hospitality that turns a good meal into a great one. The food itself was outstanding. We ordered the French Toast and the Birria Brisket Croque Madame, and both were incredible -- beautifully presented and packed with flavor. The Croque Madame especially blew us away; it's the kind of dish you think about after you leave. The side hash rounded it all out perfectly. And then there are the pastries. We grabbed the Mango Sticky Rice Cream Puff and the Amaretto Cherry Basque Cheesecake Brownie from the Weekend Selections -- both were stunning, not just visually but in flavor. The cheesecake brownie topped with those cherry meringues looked almost too good to eat. Almost. Washed everything down with the Salted Honey Matcha and it was the perfect companion to the whole spread. Honestly, the hardest part was choosing -- the menu is so creative and well thought-out that we already have a list of things we want to try next time. And there will be a next time. La Casita has earned a regular customer. Highly, highly recommend.

Great food, but front-of-house operations and management are a total mess…read more My family and I finally visited La Casita Bakeshop over the weekend after seeing a lot of marketing for it. While the food itself was definitely good, the front-end operations were incredibly poor, and the service left a lot to be desired. The serving staff seemed completely untrained and lacked basic common sense, right down to knowing how to properly handle plates and utensils. To make matters worse, we encountered the shift manager, Jesus, on Sunday, May 24th. Not only was he arrogant, but he completely lacked Customer Service 101 skills. At one point, he told us the wait time would be an hour, yet there were four completely empty tables inside and servers were just standing around idle. He is clearly an inexperienced restaurant manager who does not know how to efficiently run a floor or manage a team. A major caution for potential guests ordering takeout: The staff has absolutely no clue how to properly pack food. They packed runny eggs into a standard cardboard box, which inevitably leaked right through the holes and made a massive mess everywhere (see attached picture). On top of that, for a bakery and coffee spot, they didn't even carry basic options like 2% or Lactaid milk. My humble suggestion to the owners is to invest some serious time and guidance into improving your front-of-house operations and management training. The kitchen is doing its part, but the front-end experience and sloppy packaging are dragging the whole establishment down.

Located among the shops and bars of historic downtown sits 1418 Coffee, a cute and genuinely great little shop that fits the area perfectly. Inside, the shop is fairly narrow but offers a good amount of both indoor and outdoor seating. I arrived with a friend a little before 11 am on a Sunday, and it was absolutely packed. A biking group was posted up outside, students were inside working on homework, even though most colleges have not started yet, and plenty of other patrons were taking their Sunday mornings easy. Despite having at least 10 to 15 people in front of us, the line moved pretty quickly. My friend who was more of a regular at the shop knew a lot of the staff and had convos with them. It feels like a little community! I ordered the Maple Sausage Croissant sourced from Sugar Loaf Bakery along with a hot Purple Haze latte made with lavender and vanilla syrup. My drink came out fairly quickly, and I thought it was great. It was well balanced and not overly sweet. As for the Maple Sausage Croissant, it was exactly what it sounded like, a maple sausage tucked into a croissant. I initially expected the croissant itself to be maple flavored, similar to a McGriddle, but it was still fresh and enjoyable. They had been keeping them warm in a heater throughout the morning, which definitely helped. I have stopped by 1418 Coffee a few times when visiting Dallas, and I plan to keep returning. They consistently do a great job and fit right into the charm of downtown Plano. RIYL: A warm haven in a beautiful downtown.

The baristas are all super friendly and were happy to answer all my questions. It's also super cozy with dim lighting, and the music isn't super overpowering or loud. There's mostly comfy couches but also a few tables and high top seating. Just a little chilly, so I'd recommend bringing a jacket. I was able to comfortably complete some work on my laptop, with working wifi. There were also people here socializing in the morning. They no longer serve breakfast tacos, so I opted for a bacon cheddar scone at one visit and a lemon blueberry scone on another. They were both delicious! The baristas told me that their chai leans toward the sweeter side versus the spicier side, so I opted for an iced sugar-free vanilla latte, which was not overly sweet. I also tried the beez neez (latte with honey and cinammon) another time and enjoyed it! They offer 2% milk, which I don't always find at coffee shops. Since it's in downtown Plano, there's street parking, which wasn't difficult for me since I came at 8 AM. I believe there are parking garages located nearby. Overall, I've greatly enjoyed 1418 Coffee and will most definitely be visiting more throughout this month while I'm working in the area!

The typical bakeries in this area (Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Allen etc) are often chains, and focus on soft breads such as donuts and cakes, with the token boring croissant, and the Asian bakeries (also chains) offer a completely different style of breads, so to finally come across a place with innovative crisp laminated pastries is a treat! Note - they do not sell breads. I visited on a Friday morning around 8am and although there were only two people ahead of me in line, they were already out of almond croissants and I took the last sausage roll on display (but the bakers were probably baking more). There was a continuous flow of people in and out. The location is definitely set up to be a to-go place and NOT somewhere you come to sit and eat. No ambiance. No need to bring the friends and family, just send someone to buy a box of treats and enjoy at home. Being in a strip-mall complex, parking is easy.
