[[HIGHLIGHT]]Welcoming and cool vibes![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Great place to drop in chill with a coffee, quick and light bite or find a small space to work by yourself or at the larger table with friends, etc. Had a drip and a cortado. Drip was strong, slightly bitter but a good wake-me up. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Busy waves.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Recommend you check it out.

100% recommend! I was in town and wanted some breakfast and this place did not disappoint. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was creative, colorful, the people working were happy to be there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It made me want to work there. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I sat at the bar. It's a narrow building, seating is friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had a cortado and a toast with beans and eggs, it was divine. I want to 100 go back to try all the other menu items. The parking was bleak, but I found some down the street. I can't wait to be back.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great tasteful tunes! (Need that playlist..)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Stopped here for the first time this weekend to grab a latte. The latte was kinda pricey for the size of it and it was just okay nothing special. The food did look good though I didn't try anything. This coffee shop is part cafe, part store where they feature local goodies. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have some tables and bar. Def a vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Smalls Cafe is the kind of place where time slows down, in the best way.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Located just across the street from the water, it offers a cozy, colorful café up front and a charming little market tucked in the back, stocked with household goods and gourmet bites perfect for gifting, charcuterie boards, or spontaneous picnics[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I always enjoy wandering through the back while waiting for my order, there's always something new to discover.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Since my first visit, I've been loyal to the Smalls breakfast sandwich, it's seriously that good. The herb feta sauce is unforgettable (I've seriously wished they sold it by the jar). If you're into coffee, do yourself a favor and try an iced latte with a pump of baklava syrup. It's sweet, spiced, and just a little unexpected, like Smalls itself.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Such a gem tucked away in a quieter part of portland.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Amazing selection of food and fun sweet treats. I went when they have their specialty cake available on Fridays and Saturdays. I showed up around 22 and sat right at the bar and chatted with the lovely bartender about what wine they recommend pairing with the caramel apple cake they had on special. Such lovely service and i had such a fun relaxing time just having a glass of wine with a slice of cake and reading my book! then walked around the little store area they had and will definitely need to go back for some fun and quirky gifts to pick up for the holidays. highly recommend!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This place was SO CUTE! Cozy window seats, cute bar, and the shop in the back had so many goodies![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the breakfast sandwich and it was bomb. Soft egg brick, crunchy bacon, and the sauce balanced really well! My only complaint is it felt like a small sandwich for $9 ($11 if you add bacon). My friend had the ricotta toast and enjoyed that and her coffee too! I would definitely come back to try some other dishes and cocktails!

    Some steaks. Lol.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a really cute little spot in Portland.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a hip little grocery store in the back and in the front is a charming cafe that satiates well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was not the biggest fan of the cheese in this particular image but loved the bread and would be more than willing to try again. The service is never bad, and it's overall a quaint spot that will get the job done. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I really like the assortment of trinkets inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Really yummy food and super cute vibe![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were bummed because they were out of the breakfast sandwich, but everything we ordered was so so good! The food does take a while so be prepared for 30ish minutes when you order.

Great little coffee shop in Portland. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It has a cool atmosphere and vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I really enjoyed the latte I got. I did order a medium and the size was pretty small, but considering the fact that the name of the shop is Smalls, I have no complaints. I would recommend this place for anyone who loves local coffee shops.

My fantastic cortado and my wife's matcha (with matching phone case).

We strolled there from our air b&b. I had a cortado, my wife had the matcha... both were superb. For breakfast we split the burrata plate and the raspberry tartine. I recommend either, and we plan to replicate these when we go home so we can relive the experience of Portland ME (west end).

What a quaint , queer friendly coffee shop! I truly enjoyed the friendly and welcoming atmosphere of this coffee shop and can't wait to come back!! Not only were the vibes immaculate, but their coffee, tea and sandwiches were to die for! Highly recommend this coffee shop if visiting Portland, Maine (:

Smalls is a lovely little cafe. I love that they're tucked away in the west end so parking is easy if you don't live in the area and there's a nice park to walk around if you wanna get out. Smalls is a half cafe half store type setup and they have a compact drink menu and a small food menu. I've never eaten here but it's such a nice place to grab a drink with a friend. The folks are super friendly and quick to whip your drink up. With such a small interior, they do manage to fit lots of bodies with bar style seating and cute window corner nooks.

Following first speculation I saw online of Novel closing then after they confirmed they would be…read moreclosing my wife wanted to make sure we came by before that! She is a book lover and we both love our coffees and cocktails. This is a spot that offers all of that and is a third space I think that has been popular and will in general be missed. We even visited during their opening day back in December 2023. They will be closing their doors on April 17th 2026. I will say that due to them getting their books from a local used bookstore they do not have the latest and greatest selection of books that you'd expect if they were a bookstore. I have not had complaints during any of our visits here. I have enjoyed their coffee as well as their chai lattes along with enjoyed all the cocktails I have tried. I have especially enjoyed the espresso martinis and have liked the fact you could in fact get the coffee drinks and cocktails any time of their hours opened. During the majority of their time open they would offer specialty espresso martinis as well. Some of my favorite cities to visit have many coffee cafe meets cocktail bar and is a concept I wish were more popular in Portland. It is a difficult time currently for all and any local business so with yet another closing I encourage you to support your favorite places when and how you can! Cheers to Novel and thanks for the space you offered to locals and visitors!

A place like Novel was long overdue in Downtown Portland. Coffee, cocktails, and books all day…read morelong? Yes, please. And they're open on Mondays?! The minute I walked in, I was surprised by how big the space was. But heads up, it's already a popular spot. I assumed a Monday visit would mean a quiet, empty cafe, but nope. Every table, couch, and chaise was taken, so I grabbed a seat at the bar. Not a problem, but if you're expecting a hidden gem, this isn't that. The ambiance was cool, hip, and laid-back. It's the kind of place where being solo feels encouraged. The only group chatting while I was there was practically whispering, so if you're looking for a catch-up spot with friends, this probably isn't it. But if you're in town alone and want a good drink and some quiet time, then it's the perfect spot. I ordered The Raven, and it was a delicious and balanced drink, just pricier than expected at $14 (though that's sadly the new norm in Portland). I also got a Negroni, which I just asked for offhand, and surprisingly, it was great and cheaper than my cocktail. Wish I'd known that was an option first. Overall, a fantastic addition to Portland and one I'll absolutely be back to.

The service was nice, prompt, and the prices were reasonable, which we appreciated. We're from New York, so we're definitely used to top-tier bagels. That said--considering this was a bagel from Maine--it was pretty A-okay, lol. Nothing mind-blowing, but solid enough for a casual breakfast. The cafe itself is really nice inside and seemed dog-friendly, which is always a plus. In the past, they've also had great pre-packaged dessert options from a local bakery. I didn't see anything that caught my eye this time around, but it's something I've enjoyed before. Overall, a pleasant stop with friendly service and a comfortable atmosphere--just manage expectations if you're a New York bagel snob like us.

My husband and I love Thames Landing, so why not try breakfast and lunch! Located on the waterfront in downtown Portland, they have a nice view of the walkway, railway, and the ocean Gateway. Parking is either on street or in the conveniently located parking area next to the building. I ordered the breakfast sandwich of bacon, egg, and cheese on and everything bagel. Bagel was nicely toasted not overly chewy, cheddar, egg, and bacon well balanced. I ate it so fast I forgot to take a picture! For lunch, I ordered their Bow sandwich which consisted of sliced smoked turkey, cheddar, bacon, greens, and red onion with a chipotle mayo, which I substituted for regular. They give you multiple choices of bread, I chose a wrap, which they kindly cut in half. I found this to be very delicious, the turkey the cheese to be well balanced with the greens making it very refreshing with each bite. I did take a picture of this! I enjoyed my lunch with some kombucha, which also was very refreshing. My hope is that my husband and I will go for breakfast this weekend when I can go out and experience the atmosphere and where I can take more photos.
