What I like about this location is that it's usually clean, they have fresh produce, and the employees are helpful and super friendly! Nate is always friendly w smiles and very helpful all the times I've been in this store. Great store to buy bulk items if you don't feel like going to Costco. The manager is a b****. Followed me around the store, making assumptions. Sent employees to follow and harass me around the store as well. I'm here all the time, this interaction genuinely made me hope that it rains hard enough for their roof to fall in again so that their store can close for good. The meat is almost always spoiled way before the expiration date. The amount of items I've purchased chat are past or near their expiration date are ridiculous. I bought a jar of First Street 30oz Tartar sauce. The next day when I opened it, I noticed it was expired in January. I called the store and they agreed for an exchange. I went in to replace the jar and grabbed one that says June. As I was walking out, I looked at it closely and it says June 2024. I went back in for another jar. And found a jar expired December 2023. I considered 2 stars in the past but it's down to one. I used to shop here a lot when they first opened, up through the pandemic, and ongoing until more recently. Over time, prices have gone higher than other places and quality went way down. Does anyone else have a problem with items being sold near or far after the expiration date? The past few times I've gone there it happens every time. Some may say, "Check the expiration dates," which is true and I do when I can see them. My vision is poor even with glasses and some expiration dates are so small I cannot check until home with a magnifying glass. Every time virtually everything is to expire in days or already has been long ago. Does this company buy old groceries at a discount? Is this Grocery Outlet? I expect it there. Tonight I opened a brand new name brand Best Foods mayo and put a bit into the egg salad I was making. I took a taste and almost gagged, it tasted so awful. I should have known. Yet it was a popular brand and just bought it a couple weeks ago and it hadn't been opened! The tiny print showed it expired 6 months ago! Don't the workers "front" the stock in this store? Years ago I remember working in a store and having to check and rotate stock. This happens too often and I guess they know most of us will not bother taking it back. If I get an item that expires more than a couple months ahead it's a miracle. Even frozen foods are the same. I'm just hoping I don't get sick from tasting it. I've been coming to this Smart & Final location for a few years now. The store is always well-stocked, and the staff have always been professional and helpful. My experience today finally prompted me to post a review, albeit a short one, while I'm still in the parking lot. I came here today for veggies, specifically greens. I was happy to see a large selection of collard greens, and while they looked to have been manhandled en route to the store, they were fresh and clean. I grabbed two bushels and headed for the tomatoes. Miguel, a store employee, was stocking veggies, and when he saw my collard greens, he was dismayed. He took the collard greens and returned in a few moments with two beautiful, not-at-all-mangled bushels. Wow! This is what turns a customer into a repeat customer, and a repeat customer into a loyal customer. I hope the management knows what a gem they have in Miguel. This neighborhood super market is conveniently located near the Azusa Metrolink station and 7-Eleven. I love the meat prices here. Once a week or so, they have specials that can't be beat on chicken thighs and sometimes ribs. They also have a good selection of frozen pizzas, ice cream and liquor. They're produce aisle is bountiful. They advertise warehouse prices in supermarket sizes and I would have to agree. read more

My wife and I moved here in Azusa 2015 and ever since we been shopping to this Grocery store. My wife is an Accounting with CPA Certified and im a Computer technician. We don't Steal and it's against our Principal and we can afford to pay for our groceries. My wife likes to get three to four clear vegetable plastic and place it in the cart. The cashier name SARAH ISIS ask me " What's in the Bag ?" Not in friendly way and I said " it's nothing just a clear plastic. As we are paying... she asked another cashier to check the plastic in our cart and said " Can you check the plastic in their cart ". The lady replied " it's just a plastic but Sarah is still looking at her so...the lady pickup the plastic and said " it's nothing just a plastic ". My wife and I was so embarrassed and no apology from Sarah. There's a million ways to ask the customer without getting offended but the way she say things are so unprofessional. New Smart & Final Extra store, opened back in November, next door to California Grill Express. I came by this location with my husband this past Sunday evening, a little before 8:30 pm. I came in here in particular, to find a carton quart of milk for my mom. My mom only likes to buy milk in this smaller size because the half gallon is too big for her. After we were unable to find one at the Target nearby, we ended up coming here. Luckily we were able to find a carton of low fat milk in the quart size. Then we looked over the produce section. I was disappointed that there wasn't a lot of variety of fruits and vegetables. On this visit, there were just citrus fruits (oranges and grapefruit) and apples in the fruit section. Anyways, the aisles were clean and tidy upon this visit. The employee helping us at the register was quick and efficiently at getting our transaction handled. This shopping trip was average for the most point. I wouldn't make a special trip to shop at this location since there is one in Duarte. But the layout is the same. read more

I could not see what it was but it was something in a box and had the Dodgers logo on it. Maybe a bobble head? She was not doing her job and very distracted admiring her piece of Dodger merch. My daughter works at Azusa store and had told them she was sick (she has runny nose sore throat and couldn't taste).WELL SINCE APPARENTLY THEY ARE DOCTORS they took her temp and since no fever BASICALLY TOLD HER "IF SHE GOES HOME SHE WONT HAVE A JOB"... This review is about ANTHONY the manager on duty tonight 5/26. The gentleman in front of my asked him if he spoke Spanish and Anthony said "no not really" which is it Anthony? No is no and not really implies that you know it but you don't want too or you act like you don't know it. As a manager that was a poor response, you could've said something along the lines of, "a little, let me see if I can help you or no, but let me get someone to assist you" since he failed to do his job I stepped in and offered to interpret. The gentleman said it was okay and thanked me. Anthony didn't even acknowledge my help. He went on scanning items while having a conversation with an employee 2 registers behind him. Let me add that he spent like 1-2 minutes looking for a code on an item. What kind of manager doesn't know codes or takes that long to find it? When he was done he didn't even bother to say thank you to the gentleman or have a nice day. Once again the man thanked me as he left. Welp it was my turn and I had so much I wanted sto say sarcastically when he asked if I wanted any bags but instead I gave a firm NO with out any type of eye contact. Incase you need a reminder ANTHONY, I was wearing a black CSUN sweater and I stepped up to assist your customer. As he scanned our items he didn't bother to greet us, ask if we found everything okay. Nothing, just silent. When he gave us our receipt he just handed it to my husband. Once again just like to the man in-front of me, no thank you no good night, NOTHING. He clearly doesn't want to be there. He had No presence at all. It hurt me to hear him say "not really" you don't do that to anyone who has a language barrier or just anyone who has a question. Especially as a manager, you could've done more. Who knows what that man needed. But probably shied away because this so called manager gave him no safe space to try to even ask for what he needed. It's crazy that a similar situation Happened at the Whittier location. Only that time I did interpret for a customer, and walked him over to the isle that the employee said the item was at. And those two workers looked at each other and said "that was easy" me doing their job was easy for them. SMH. Hiring teams needs to reevaluate their staff! read more

I was in to the store to buy a few things I get up to the line that reads 10 items or less(express lane) In line in front of me there is a couple with two carts the items added up to over $300 way over the 10 items. I know that we are all dealing with this situation in different ways, all the staff have always made me feel NORMAL, when I walk in & shopping around I feel safe and welcomed. It gives me a sense of security knowing that my local store is working hard to keep items in stock for all our Azusa community. 3. 6ft safer distancing, the best set up from any other store, again with so many changes we are all experiencing with this Pandemic, your store makes me feel like nothing has changed and I can go about doing my shopping feeling normal. Very disappointed they no longer carry Fernando's Taquitos. We don't normally shop here but it was the only place we could find this brand. And when we did go in to buy them, we would normally spend about $100 in there since we were there. Too bad, I really liked this store. The workers here harassed my sister and her friend. They followed them around the store and continuously asked them if they were going to pay for their items. With students walking home from school, I understand that the workers might feel that their backpacks will be suitable for stealing. However it's a whole different thing when you are harassing minors and following them around the store! You guys can ask them to leave their backpacks at the front if it's that bad of a problem. Shame on you guys for the micro aggression and putting labels on teenagers who were giving you business. They clearly would not have stuck around for 10 minutes if they were stealing. Everyone here is awesome. This was my go to store during COVID 19 pandemic. The store is always clean and well maintained. The workers are always helpful and friendly. I like to joke around, and they like to laugh also. During these crazy times I know that I can count on this store for essentials. This is a nice brand new store so it's hard to go wrong. But yet, every trip hear manages to leave a sour taste. In particular, the extremely slow checkers who scan items without a care in the world. Trying to stop in for a quick item? Think again. These checkers operate as if they are completely unaware of the lengths of the lines. It's not even like they're spending time talking to you or being courteous; there's literally no benefit. They recently switched from a single line that splits up to one line per register. Even still, expect to spend a much higher than average time waiting in line. Management pls up the training and the productivity of this store. read more

First time visiting this new store. I'm so excited about finally having a grocery store within walking distance of my home. The store is ample and fully stocked with fairly wide aisles. The prices seem reasonable albeit higher than those at Aldi's where I typically shop. The selection of items is much more expansive than that at Aldi's too, minimizing my need to shop at multiple stores. I came in on a Saturday at about 2pm. The store is neat, clean, well-organized and has friendly help. What's not to like? It's the same thing that has always relegated S&F to one of our last choices: prices. S&F plays the same game as other supermarkets: put a few items on sale at low prices, while retaining higher prices on everyday staples like cereal, milk, etc. There is no way they can compete against places like Aldie and Wal Mart. Or, when it comes to produce, places like Super King. Sure carrots might be on sale but the remaining produce is not competitively priced, which makes us shop st S&F only because it's close. Shop there for your everyday items and you'll end up paying more. And their bulk items are more expensive than Costco. read more

I have only been to this Smart & Final and will never go again. I went to get a Refund on an Apple Gift Card with my receipt and the Cashier refused to refund the $50.00 Gift Card even though I had a receipt. I asked If I could exchange it because I don't buy Apple Products and she told me to come back when they weren't so busy. She was extremely rude. I called back later that day and spoke with the Manager, Samantha Torres who was even nastier and extremely rude. She said they didn't refund or exchange Gift Cards even if you have a Receipt. "All sales are Final" was the last thing she said before hanging up. It doesn't say this anywhere on the receipt or in the store postings. This is an illegal practice and I have since reported them to the California Attorney General. AG Bonta's Office. I have also contacted their CEO David G. Hirz at their corporate office in the City Commerce to let him know about how they treat their customers in Azusa. Manager not customer friendly. After the cashier rung up $75 worth, I realized I didn't have my "save $10 on $40" coupon which was my entire reason for coming here in the first place. Acknowledging that it's my own fault, I asked if I could bring the receipt back later to get the difference instead of leaving all my groceries and going home for coupon. The manager refused.
