After scouring Yelp for a Bosch service company and hearing back a day later from the first choice who now don't do Bosch despite what their website says, I put out a blast on Yelp. I went with the company that had the best average reviews and a mid-range service call fee. All the companies I looked at charge this. They need to be paid for their time even if they can't repair the appliance or we decide not to spend the money. They charged a very reasonable $60, compared with a high of $160 and a low of $50 (never go with the low bid!). Our Bosch dishwasher won't stop running at the end of the cycle, which is really wasteful. Alex came promptly at the appointment time, immediately put on shoe covers when he entered. We talked about the issue, determined that it was probably the main control board and at $200 for the part plus $200 labor it probably wasn't worth it at this point considering we can run a longer cycle or cancel it when it should be done and run a short rinse cycle. It'll get us by a little longer while we look at new dishwashers. Alex was super nice, polite, knowledgeable on Bosch's idiosyncrasies. Well worth the $60 diagnostic fee. I will definitely keep this company in mind for the future or to recommend to friends. read more

I had a problem with the pre-heating element of my Bosch oven not shutting off when the desired baking temperature was reached. The original technician, who was highly rated in Yelp, diagosed the problem and quoted a price of $811 to replace the control unit and temperature sensor. Seemed rather high, especially the $375 included labor charge. He also estimated the parts would take about a week to receive after ordering. I called Smart Appliance Fix and asked for an estimate for the same repair and was quoted $485, which was about 40% less than the original estimate. The work was done today for the quoted amount, with parts that were in stock. The two technicians who worked on the repair (oven had be to removed from the wall) were professional and friendly. Lesson learned: Call Smart Appliance Fix if original estimate seems high. read more

We have a GE slide-in electric range with a glass cook top. The main burner has three rings for small, medium and large cookware. The smallest (center) burner went dark, making the stove difficult but not impossible to use, since that heats for all three sizes. I asked for yelp quotes from a number of highly rated repair companies, including Aman's, who all declined service. I then called and got to talk with Aman directly. Once I assured him this wasn't an emergency, he took time to understand the job over the phone, had me message him a photo of the range and the serial/model number plate. We then set up a visit when he had an opening to do diagnostics. When he came I saw that he is knowledgeable, careful and thorough! He studied the circuit diagram before he even came, on his own time. Diagnosis wasn't the typical quick opinion - he disassembled the front panel and checked controls and wiring, and with it apart he even took an extra couple of minutes without charge to swap in another burner's control that I had purchased as a DIY that I'd put off doing for a year. He then gave me an estimate, waiving the diagnostic fee and even an additional Yelp discount. He got a new triple burner assembly and came back two days later. Once again, once the cook top was open he thoroughly checked the burners with a meter to be sure the part was needed before proceeding. While he worked he willingly let me wipe accumulated grease that had collected under the cook top edges. Overall cost was as estimated, and a lot less than I'd originally expected! I appreciate that everything was friendly and straight-up transparent with no surprises from beginning to end. He will be my new go-to person! read more
