The Struxture Pergola I had built is nice, but working with this company was not a great experience. What I expected was a builder who handled the construction from start to finish. What I got was a company that sold you the unit and had a separate company that did the construction. Not only that, but my bid did not include all the charges that were needed to complete the project. I ended up spending an extra $7,000 more than Smart's bid even though I explained what I wanted from the beginning. I didn't do the screens with them because they had to hire another company to do that and they wanted $10,000.00 more than the company I hired, Suncoast. Suncoast can do it all and I'm truly sorry I did not know about them before I started the project. They would have been much less expensive and would have only dealt with one company. read more

Extremely Disappointed - Not Worth the Price or the Headache I paid over $50,000 for a 16x22 pergola from StruXure, and the project is still not finished. One side of the pergola is not a 90-degree angle, which has made it impossible to install curtains as planned (see attached photo). For a project of this scale and cost, this kind of oversight is unacceptable. I was promised excellent communication from the beginning -- that did not happen. The only person who made any real effort to assist me was Adriana. I'm still waiting to hear back from a manager, which has been incredibly frustrating and unprofessional. To make matters worse, the materials were dropped off weeks before the team was ready to start, killing the landscaping in our front yard in the process. The lack of planning and coordination has been costly both financially and emotionally. For the steep price, poor communication, and overall lack of accountability, I cannot in good conscience recommend StructureX to anyone. DO NOT waste your time like we've wasted ours several times. My wife and I were there 3 times this week alone and got zero help once again. I sat reading a paper for 30 min with a literally a stack of hundred dollar bills in my shirt pocket for fun and still couldn't get any help. Went another day after work at 5:50 and they already left early for the day. I've never met a company that made it so difficult to spend money at their business. Came home last week and was in awe in the completion of another project. This is the 2nd project I had Struxure/(Smart Patio Plus) come out and plan my backyard pergola. The first one blew me away and Dan's design recommendations excelled over my requirements and aesthetically looks much better. His vision w/ his design team totally is a showstopper, esp in our last 2 backyard parties; guests were asking about it. And now this 2nd pergola by Struxure (Smart Patio Plus) also exceeded my expectations. They totally figured out how to put a new pergola to replace the old wooden one on top of an existing counter and BBQ area. The 2 supporting posts are totally "MANLY" and robust and impressive. Definitly NONE of it (posts and roof) looks cheap and flimsy - and the design team's recommendations re: the light placement was awesome. It matches the first Struxure Pergola on the other side but has an awesome slant as recommended by the design team to increase the sun blocking exposure time during sunset. The designers work well with their designated San Diego installers (Tim and the rest of Red Rock Patio). The installers were also great- giving their recommendations and were quick, organized, clean and yet respectful to us and any other homeowner's needs. Just after completing our home remodel, we thought all our home improvements were completed. Until direct sunlight and heat on our extended deck area kept us indoors instead of outdoors as we had planned. We also noticed the sun was so bright it was preventing us from enjoying our amazing outdoor views. Had a phone appointment scheduled for over a week. The appointed time came and went. At 30 minutes I called but hung up. Decided to let them contact me. Coincidentally within 1 minute I received a text basically saying I missed the appointment. I provided a picture of the text showing he was to call me. Long story short that after asking him to call, one hour later, still no call. Definitely not interested in hiring a company that cannot keep appointments as simple as a phone call. UPDATE: Someone eventually called but proceeded to tell me their records show they called and left a message. No calls were received nor show any calls from them. They asked if I still wanted an estimate but of course the answer was no. Customer service to get anything fixed with this company has been the biggest nightmare. They were great when they sold us the patio cover but when it came to the heaters not working and the sensors for rain stopped working it was impossible to get them to help us. (We are under warranty still) It has been over a year dealing with them to try and get someone to come out and fix the heater and sensor but every time we call to get someone out they would tell us someone would be reaching out but we never get a call back. Just got off the phone again right now and figured we'd write this review in hopes that this company gets their act together and service the clients that have paid thousands of dollars for their product. Look no further! After going to the showroom, Shawn greeted me with the biggest smile. I knew I was going to like this guy! Well, now I love this guy! He hooked me up by helping me pick the right colors and now that it's installed, I feel like I hit the jackpot and I got the mother of all pergolas. They have the installers come to your house to make sure the measurements work with the parameters of the house. Dan from Bespoke came and instilled confidence. Fortino was the main person from Dan's company that installed it all. I like their style. They take a day to strategize and plan (because if you fail to plan, plan to fail). They organized and set up all of the materials while asking questions to make sure they install it to my desires. The rest of the 2 days was all about execution and it went as smooth as butter. What I love about this product is that it has it's own gutter to drain the water from the rain. And it gives you the choice with the ability to open or close it (and to automatically close when it rains unexpectedly like it just did last week). Since I got the creme de la creme, I needed an electrician (Scott who was referred by them complete with a Bostonian accent) who hooked me up with the heater and the lights. That guy also saved my house from burning down because he found that our electric panel was on the fritz (zzzzt zzzzt noises). So a long-time issue was solved as a side result. I am more than thrilled with these first-class professionals who know their Sh*t and know it well. I will be keeping their contacts for future projects. This is not the cheap stuff that I had ripped apart...this is the real stuff that you keep for life. Now they have 0% financing for 18 months so there's no excuse not to do it. I had to pay cash/check for mine. As a result, Shawn came over again today to quote me on 3 other projects I want to have done to my house. I'm getting the front of my house done, and I'm going to create a she-shed / man-cave in the backyard so we can live happily ever after despite covid.
