They initially "fixed" one of the obvious leaks last week, but this week there were still leaks and so I had them come back out to fix they NON FIX and they claimed I needed to re-pipe all my piping from my house to the main at the street... to the tune of $14K!!! I said I didn't even use that irrigation system anymore and could we just cap it off or bypass it, but they told me they'd have to rip up my whole yard because they didn't know exactly where the leak was...but doing the re-piping would solve the leaking 100%. Otherwise I may continue to have leaks in the future and to me that sounded ridiculous (the $14K)! So I wanted to get additional bids to make sure I wasn't getting ripped off, and I'm so glad I did!! I called United Plumbing and they sent someone out to my house within 2 hours!!! And Alex Bor (one of their supervisors) QUICKLY solved the problem in LESS THAN 10 minutes just by walking around the perimeter of my house and finding the irrigation shut off valve!!! And it cost me nothing as he said it was all part of the "free estimate" to trouble shoot the issue by going around the house before pricing out the fix. Since we don't even use that irrigation system anymore, it was a no brainer to just turn off the valve and be DONE!!! No more wasted water!! I had a very easy experience getting an on-site quote. I received 3 quotes for this job. 2 quotes, including this one, came in around $7100. I went with a third one at around $6700 (which included an additional mixing valve) and am very happy with my decision. Overall price was not a big part of my decision, but brand of water heater was. After doing some research online, the most recommended brands are AO Smith and Rheem (GE). Both higher quotes were for Navien, which has only been making heat pump water heaters for 1 year, but I was told that it is the most reliable brand. I did not understand how this claim could be made, given how short the duration of evaluation for this product. Even the worst appliances usually work for at least a year. So I requested a quote for AO Smith or Rheem, which I did not get. I'm not sure why my brand request was not honored, but it made me question whether I should go with a company that either has communication issues or maybe some type of deal with Navien that I was not informed about. Many water heater installers are preferred installers of certain brands, which means they can get better pricing, etc. I did not want to be a guinea pig for Navien.

I won't name their name but after fast inital reponse - nada. So I called my goto plumbers. We went out and bought a replacement water heater from Ferguson (check out my review for them - awesome). My wife and I dollied and manipulated all 137lbs of that bad boy into the garage. Edgar was my tech from Magnificent (He thought it was a "check" vs. "replace"). This could have been a disaster because we are now at New Year's Eve. They typically only do commercial water heater replacement but calls his boss, gets the gren light and because we are loyal customers, discounts the service cost. He tells me he can do it, calls to re-arrange some family plans and just makes it happen! At the end, he noticed a pipe with some carbon monoxide venting which he also fixed. I immediately turned off the water main, and did a yelp search. I gave them a call and sent pictures. I had an appointment for 12-2 window. They showed just before 12. Indeed, my shower parts needed replacing but they also determined that the leaking from the ceiling in the garage was from a water heater pipe spraying water on the ceiling making it look like that. They fixed the shower situation, replaced my old water heater on the spot. The price was very reasonable, i didn't want to buy into a water heater plan, just give me close to whatever I had. Amazing what those 2 did in such a short time. They know what they're doing and how to price the services such that you don't have to shop around. That was what I experienced.
