UPDATE: 5/28 @ 7:00 pm : Your condescending, copy-paste reply completely misses the point of my review. My complaint has nothing to do with what the insurance or warranty covers. It has everything to do with your unacceptable attitude, cruel personal insults, and complete lack of professional decorum. This fake apology just reinforces exactly what I experienced. A polite internet comment doesn't erase atrocious behavior in person!!!!!!! I had the most horrible experience yesterday with this company and their very rude, condescending technician, Maurice. They were dispatched by my home insurance company. He walked in and was clearly disgruntled from the start. To be transparent, I told him my garage is currently being treated for rodents and the situation is under control. He immediately and falsely stated that this means my home insurance is void. Then he proceeded to say, "I don't know how to say this tactfully, BUT it smells ripe in here." He followed that up by saying, "I won't be working on this machine--I would never get on this filthy floor." He continued to pretend to troubleshoot, moved the machine out from the wall, and left it there blocking my door. He told me my insurance company will let me know if they will service it, adding, "but I WON'T." I am a 68-year-old single woman who is trying to upkeep my house the best I can. I did not appreciate being made to feel subpar and like a dirty, nasty woman in my own home. There is a professional way to speak to a customer and kindly decline service if you need to. I was in tears when he left and felt so humiliated. Maurice desperately needs to take a Customer Service 101 class or at least find some basic decorum. I will NEVER contact this company again and will make sure everyone I know avoids them. Shame on this man. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with the service we received from Altamont Appliance Repair. Their technician, Maurice Leyva, was not only unhelpful but also dismissive of an ongoing issue we've been experiencing with our LG refrigerator. Despite us clearly stating that this was a recurring problem, Maurice refused to write a report for our "No Lemon" warranty claim and brushed off the concern by saying we just needed to replace the water filter -- something we had already done multiple times. Unfortunately, his so-called fix that didn't work and took us beyond our warranty that has now expired. There is nothing we can do. We are now stuck with a defective refrigerator that the warranty won't cover, won't honor the no lemon policy, and of course, he can still repair it but at full cost to us. As expected, his "solution" did nothing to address the real problem. Just three weeks after his visit, our craft ice maker failed again -- the sixth time this has happened. Instead of taking accountability or digging into the root cause, Altamont and Maurice left us hanging with no resolution and no support. We expected a technician to troubleshoot thoroughly and advocate for us if a product is clearly defective. That didn't happen. I do not recommend this company if you're looking for a reliable or customer-focused repair service. read more

Maurice is a terrible and horrible technician. He thinks he knows too much about Washer and Dryer but it's the opposite. Mr.Maurice can show late for the appointments , come up with excuses and make the Customer wait but if the Customer requests to wait for 2-3 mins , this guy shows his true colors and doesn't know how to reciprocate the same hospitality . During the appointment , he spends first half boasting about what he knows and the next half criticizing what the previous technicians have done. Honestly, his services aren't good and wouldn't recommend him to anyone. Though not worthy for 1 Star, I would have actually given him 1/2 star had there been an option. Not flexible with timings and too pricey for his quality of work ! There are lot of other technicians who does better job than this guy. read more

I am so impressed with Maurice! He really knows his stuff! I've had issues with my dryer twice recently and I have warranty on it so the first time they sent Altamont for repair service. It turns out that when I lived in the Bay Area, he serviced my washer/dryer there too! (That was about 15 years ago-I live in Manteca now) So when he came out for the second warranty call, I was very much relieved. He really knows his stuff!! (That's right, I said it twice and I'd say it again!!) He got the parts ordered right away and followed up with the delivery, came out right away and fixed my dryer-now I can live my life again! I would definitely recommend him to anyone. Any appliance repair I need in the future, I will call Maurice. read more

We got a kitchen appliance repair project and Altamont Appliance Repair is popped up from yelp. We were told to deposit $100 to get Maurice to visit (while the business address is just a few blocks away ). Note over here that Maurice informed us that the fee will be deducted from the final quote and this appears to be the standard tricks used by everyone else now a day. But wait for the climaxes next. Once he visits us, he told us to replace the assembly. He quoted the price of $1200 part and $299 labour. ( of cause, after deducting it will be $199 labour ). Any way, it turns out that we found the same part from sear appliances for merely $800 and the $1200 is appear to be the MSRP price. When we approach him back and offer the part, Maurice is now "missing in action" and hence we have to find someone else to fix it. The cost of other is $250 read more

Assigned thru AHS for dishwasher repair, opened request on Jan 14th, company did not have any appointment till 23rd. I had seen error code LE one time however at this point the dishwasher is not even turning on. LE error usually means motor error and report was sent back to AHS that the issue is of motor. The motor warranty is for 10 years. The repairman told me that motor error should not interfere with the display. But did not want to "guess" what is going on. If it was to guess, I would have done it and I would not have called a "technician" for 75$. The person who came told me that give AHS 3-4 days to help me, today I can see that the service ticket is closed. Now AHS is asking me to contact LG however I do not have extended warranty. I contacted LG and seems like I need to pay out of my pocket to get it fixed. read more

In this case I needed to have someone do a diagnostic on my fridge that went out on me during the holiday weekend. Altamont Appliance repair was the first to respond and had the best price for a visit. He arrived on time and was very courteous and very knowledgeable about refrigerators. He gave me an honest assessment and didn't try to insist on unneeded work. I respect this a lot. I ended up getting a new fridge after evaluating the cost of potential repair. My dishwasher broke and I called many repair companies and only one called me back in a timely manner. They scheduled an appointment for the same week. He came out (Covid protected of course) and knew what the problem was right away. He ordered the part which came in sooner than expected, and came back quickly after it arrived and completed the job. The door sensor on our Whirlpool microwave was giving us intermediate problems for a while. One day it seemingly stopped working and I had to find someone to come out to service it. I called Altamont Appliance and spoke with the owner Maurice directly. I explained the problem and sent him a few pictures. He quickly diagnosed the problem and gave us a confident estimate. He also accommodated our scheduling limitations and arrived promptly when he said he'd be there. It turned out it wasn't a bad sensor but a misaligned one. He realigned the sensor quickly and gave us some good advice on how to prevent the issue from happening in the future. When our dryer wasn't drying our clothes, our home warranty company assigned us to Altamont Repair. Maurice called and, before setting up an appointment to come out, asked me to turn on the dryer while he was on the phone and see if it heated up. It did, so he said the dryer was working, it appeared to be a clogged vent, and he referred me to Dryer Vent Wizards (I'll also be giving them a great review). They came out today, removed a mountain of lint from the vent, and now our dryer is working perfectly. Maurice could have come out, received his service fee, we still would have had to pay $100 and then had to pay for someone to clean the vent anyway. But instead, he saved us $100 and referred us to someone who could get the job done. Thanks, Maurice! You've reinforced my belief that there are still decent, honest, stand-up business people out there. read more

This guy is rude and defensive. Hired him through warranty and he shows up late, barely checks for any issues. My frig was making noises and 3 days later after I make the appointment for the diagnostic, the noise was gone. He showed 3 hours late as if people don't have plans, kids and life. He checks around the frig and does no diagnostic check. He told my wife to call him back if we hear the noise so I did. He answers his phone and is rude about coming back to hear the noise. The. Why tell us to call you back if you don't want to come back and do the work? Stay away from this dude. Wish I could have him no stars! read more

I had a appliance repair guy that I used for 10 yrs and he just retired. So I went to good old Yelp to find a repair company. Spoke to a couple of repair companies on the phone and really liked him from the minute I spoke to him. He showed when he said he would and I was able to track him, with the link he provided in his text, so I knew when he was going to be at my house.
