Thank god for these security companies! We had a break in a few months ago and were planning on buying a home kit with cameras and self-monitoring for someone to install. Well, I thought that Smart Shield Systems does that, but they provide their own equipment and do central monitoring. I did not know the importance of central monitoring! I am connected now to police and fire services, meaning that if anything happens, I do not need to call, services are automatically notified. In addition, when my alarm goes off, I can communicate directly with the monitoring station because they can hear me through the 2 way voice panel! Love it! read more

My husband did a fair amount of research looking for a security company after our house was broken into. He narrowed the search to 3 companies and after talking to a few neighbors got it down to 2. Smart Shield is local which was important to us. Ron, who was our salesperson was fabulous. He first met with my husband & then was gracious enough to do a second sales call to satisfy my questions. We had a couple of minor questions & Sharon in Operations, responded quickly and the things she couldn't answer immediately, she researched & called back the next morning. As mentioned in our prior review, we purchased exterior home security cameras from Smart Shield Systems in August 2018. Originally, we had purchased the cameras to discourage a vindictive person on the street from further vandalizing our property and autos. We believe security cameras have made a difference with that situation as the person appears to be cautious to do anything else for fear of being caught on the cameras. Recently, we discovered that the security cameras could save us money when cameras recorded a hit and run in front of our house. We went to drive our auto and discovered the front of the vehicle had been hit. There was no note left on the windshield (as is required by law), so we thought we were going to have to file the claim on our auto insurance and pay the deductible (a financial hardship, especially around the holidays). Before calling our insurance, we decided to go back through our security camera footage. Thankfully, we found the incident, the person and vehicle responsible, and made a recording. The recording showed a man driving his truck into our auto and then driving away. We called SDPD with the information and showed them the video footage. They ran the license plate and it turns out the person responsible for the hit and run worked for the construction company doing a long-term construction project on the street. An officer came out and confronted the man with the video evidence and man admitted he was the one who caused the hit and run and immediately provided his insurance information. We then filed the claim with the hit and run driver's auto insurance and his insurance had to pay for the repairs to our vehicle. This meant we did not have to pay a deductible to our insurance, which saved us $500 and no increase on our insurance rates. We want to give a big 'thank-you' to Smart Shield Systems and their team of professional sales reps and installers as our security cameras make us feel more secure in our home and actually caught a bad guy! read more

When we decided to put in a CCTV system I started by looking at the companies in the San Diego area, and then at their reviews on Yelp, the BBB, and other locations. We narrowed it down to four companies that we wanted to talk to for an estimate and began to reach out to them. Smart Shield responded within minutes (on a weekend!) and then scheduled an appointment for that Monday where we got an estimate at the end of the meeting. Another company made an appointment for a few days later. Another company came out the day after them, but we never got the written estimate as promised. And the last company gave us an estimate without even coming out to our home for an assessment (still not understanding how that works). I liked Ron and he really seemed to understand our true needs, at times better than us, for a system that would give us the results we wanted. When I reached back out to him to ask about getting a little better camera (we want clearer pictures that are good enough for a slam-dunk prosecution), he was able to find us an amazing system for an incredible price, and they scheduled the system to be installed that next week. Installers Yud and Steve were so wonderful from the get-go! So easy going, but professional. Kind and respectful. Humble, but a lot of fun. I had no qualms about letting them have the run of the house and insisting on buying lunch for them. They also were very patient with us in that we wanted the lines run a particular way to not only reuse the already established construction, but to also have the least amount of esthetic alterations. Not only did they listen to our wishes and concerns, but worked very hard to ensure our requests were honored, even if it was not the easiest route. Two days after installation we had a mishap which resulted in one of the cables being sliced, which cut the feed to the base unit (basically, our one camera video was not visible). Not only did Yud come back out at the end of his work day (only a couple hours after contacting Smart Shield about the issue) to repair the line, but he was still incredibly nice and happy to help us. He had us back up and running very quickly and ensured all was well before he left us again. I am really not sure what to say to convince you that this is the company you want, except to say they have made us customers for as long as they want us. I just got an alarm system from this company last week. Must say I LOVE it! I got a little more than what I anticipated for starters. I was in for a basic alarm system with the fire detector and carbon monoxide detector which I heard was a must from a friend of mine. Eventually I added the coolest doorbell camera in the world! It notifies me whenever there is motion outside of my door or anyone rings my doorbell, I can see them through the camera and speak with them. I told the UPS guy to leave the package closer to my door on a rainy day so it won't get wet! How cool is that! read more

After recently moving from a downtown SD high rise to a house in Escondido we were interested in finding a security system to help us and our children feel safe. As new homeowners, we received lots of ads (that offered discounts) from several different security companies (i.e. ADT, etc) but I didn't want to purchase a system that after 6 months the price was going to go up. So I started to look on Yelp at the different options when I came across Smart Shield. I requested a quote and I was quickly contacted by Ron. We set a time for him to come by and discuss options. After the appointment I was very impressed by the quality of security I was going to have. Not to mention they really offer all the bells and whistles using the newest technologies. Love my new Smart Home! I never knew how many cool features there are these days. I did not get them all but I got the smart lock and the garage door for now! Not only can I control it from my phone, I get alerts if I left anything disarmed or unlocked. This is my 4th security system and I can't begin to explain how happy I am with the service and quality of this system. I've had Z-Modo, Premier, and then ADT none of them compare to the service and quality of the system I received from Smart Shield. The equipment is very up to date with an app on your phone and easy by-pass systems which we needed for a sliding door to be open for dogs. Ron was extremely nice to work with. He came to our house, explained everything that we needed to put in, and was extremely knowledgeable and personable. The installers did a great job, and went over everything with us at the end of a long day. The system works great. The automation scenes are nice (for example, you can open the garage door with the app, the system disarms, and the door unlocks. The thermostat can also be programmed to shut on/off or change temperature when you leave or enter. The user interface with Alarm.com is much better than ADT, which we had previously. Just switched over to Smart Shield Systems because Vivint Home Security did not live up to its expectations. Smart Shield provided us with the a high-end home security system, great customer service and friendly technicians. What I liked about Smart Shield is that they are based here in San Diego and a private company (not a chain). If I have a problem with anything or questions, they are fast to respond and they have their own technicians (not subcontractors) to fix any issues/problems. We just moved to a new home which had AT&T alarm (proprietary) installed; they were so tough to deal with that we sought out another solution for home security. Talked to Ron and got set up for an appointment...we had the system installed today and are really impressed with the intuitive alarm features and what seems to be a good monitoring plan for much less than AT&T was going to charge. Highly recommend this company for your home security needs. We had a competitor providing services for us and were charged for replacement batteries in our monitor after only 3 months of service as well as a service call fee!! We made the decision to switch to Smart Shield because of such poor customer service from "the other guys". Smart Shield gave us a similar system as well as upgraded our system by including a key pad front door lock and 2 extra sensors. Not long after we made the switch we were informed of a lower monthly cost and our monthly fee was automatically changed. Recently we were notified by Sharon that we were the lucky winners of a drawing that was held to provide an existing customer with an in home camera!! Wow!!
