As someone that does extensive research & gets numerous quotes on all projects around my house, My first quote was from Smart Grass. Sam came out took measurements & showed me samples. He explained the different types of turf & their prep procedures, as well as materials. I thanked him for his time & told him I will be getting more quotes for comparison & will let him know within 2 weeks. He said no problem. After getting 4 more quotes, I decided to go with Smart Grass. I called & talked to Jesse, whom I've talked to a while ago. I told him which turf I chose & he gave me a formal quote within a day. Although there was a little confusion on the turf I picked, he honored the same price. Sam came out on the day of the install, & we went over my design drawing. After years of trying to grow grass, it became obvious, especially with the drought, this could not be accomplished. I finally decided to investigate, artificial turf. I got quotes from two companies and then a friend of mine recommended Smart Grass. The two quotes I got from the other companies ( which were large companies) where significantly higher than the quote I got from Smart Grass. However, although important, this is not my only consideration in choosing Smart Grass. I came to know of Smart Grass due to a recommendation from a friend of mine who had used them previously and apparently got got many compliments on the work they had done. She assured me that I would not regret utilizing their services.I was very satisfied with not only the work but their professionalism and efficiency. I contacted Jesse and he came over and measured my area,which was pretty large, and consequently came with a significant price tag. However he did work with me to look at some other options to bring down the cost, and also spent enough time with me to make sure that I understood the whole process. He also contacted his boss who said they had a large project beginning soon, and if I wanted to use the same type of grass that they had chosen, I might get a further discount. The company he works with is a smaller company and they take pride in the work that they do. I decided to go with them, and they arrived with 10 people and completed the job in two days. The end product is truly outstanding. Apparently the workers have worked with Jesse for 11 years , which says a lot about loyalty to a company. They arrived on time, their work was so efficient I couldn't believe it. The workers were incredibly polite, and the cleanup was spotless. Jesse followed up to make sure I was happy with the final product, and again I felt, it was a sincere inquiry rather than the usual obligatory follow up. Communication was clear and concise and Jesse quickly comprehended exactly what I was looking for. We were assigned "Rubens" crew and they were excellent. This was a small job turning the side of our house from a useless, unusable space into something that looked nice, and that the dog could run around on. I think most Southern California property owners should consider replacing their grass lawns with an artificial turf lawn. I definitely did. My old grass lawn was patchy, lumpy, and difficult to manage. It also required a whole lot of watering, which, in the end, meant nothing compared to how much sun my property gets on a daily basis. I reached out to about four companies. Had a walk through with one of them. Heard back from another. And heard nothing from the third. The last one, Smart Grass, got back to me quickly. We scheduled and conducted a walk through, and I had an estimate within days. I really appreciated that. I worked with Inga Iverson the entire time. She did the initial walkthrough at my property and gave me specific instructions on prep work I needed to do before the Smart Grass team could come in and install the turf with little resistance. Well, my property was a mess and I needed a lot of prep time. Plus, the turf I wanted was stuck somewhere on a shipping container. So we had to set, and reset, an install date several times. Now, I'm cool with delaying a project for months. I was skeptical that Smart Grass would be willing to stick with me. They did. Inga maintained her communication - never hesitating to take a question, calling me for updates, and apologizing profusely for the shipping delays (which totally were not her fault, but were appreciated). I am an optimist and I had little doubt that the project would happen, eventually. And it did! After six months, Inga came out, did a final walk through and we set the a new date in mid January. Before I knew it, their install team, led by Ruben, was working on the property. They were supposed to take 2 days to lay down four sections of artificial turf. Ruben and his team did it in one day. I was more than pleased with the service. And would highly recommend Smart Grass to any property owner in So Cal looking to nix the annoying responsibilities of managing a grass lawn. Jesse (project manager), Ruben (head installer) and their crew did an excellent installation. We are very happy with the outcome. We had both our front and back yards done. Our installation was for over 3,700 sq ft. The job took 3 full days to install. We had kodiak installed in the back and Orca in the front. From the beginning Jesse provided excellent communication. He said it would take 3 days and they completed it in that time frame. Ruben and the crew were very polite. They showed up on time and cleaned up everyday. Although with such a big job they did need to leave their tools in the backyard which wasn't an issue with us. Ruben's attention to detail is second to none. He walked around the yard multiple times at the end, making adjustments that he felt were needed. Having had remodeling done before, I realize things happen. They never pushed back when I asked about something. There were some minor issues that they took care of. I would highly recommend them. Even though this company didn't have the most competitive price point, we went with them because their quote was the most thorough. They listed things that I would need like the removal of decorative rocks in their quote instead of adding it later after giving us a low quote to start. Although the yard is relatively small, the workers did take their time and complete the task in the two days allotted. Once they were done, they cleaned up and left us with an awesome new yard.
