I loved how specific Jason was with his safety briefing and how he was very patient, showing us each (20 in our party) of us how to hold, stand, and throw the axe. They have a bar and non-alcoholiic drinks available. Today, they did not have a food truck, so we were able to bring in cake and some snacks. Usually, there is a food truck to get snacks from. They also had some snacks at the bar. What impressed me the most was that this couple is honoring God in their business by having a prayer wall! We are able to write prayers on tags to hang and have people pray. The back patio had a fire pit and lounge chairs. I believe they said that you can play washers and corn hole and well. It was chilly the night we went, and they had heaters on the patio. Side note...bathrooms were clean and neat.

So we rented that and the teenagers were able to walk back and forth to the house and business as often as they wanted. They have full concession and adult beverages as well. The mini golf has 18 holes. I would suggest having a "while in one" prize (maybe a free drink) if they did have that I didn't see it. It's a very casual place and such a great idea for a small business owner with land. Thank you Debbie who made my birthday girl feel special on her day! What I love about this place is that they have timeslots. Once the occupancy is full for the specific timeslot, they will not allow any more people in to prevent crowding. I also love that it's in two hour increments because it doesn't seem like it is a long time but once you're out there and you're having a great time, time goes by so fast and that two hour timeframe is more than enough time for someone to go out and enjoy themselves. My boys absolutely love when I bring them here. The lifeguards are so amazing. They hired some of the most caring and friendliest young men as lifeguards. If you're looking to occupy your active kids and burn off some energy, I highly suggest you bring them here.

The meet ran a little longer than anticipated, so I would recommend the meet organizer allows more time in their schedule or reduce the number of 10 minute breaks between events. Otherwise, everything else was great. I look forward to my kids swimming there again. Definitely worth the drive to San Antonio for a swim meet.

All outdoor public swimming pools run by the city are free to all, open six days a week throughout the summer swimming season, and follow very similar rules and protocol. This review will focus on Roosevelt Swimming Pool and what sets it apart from other city swimming pools. As with most city pools, you are required to sign in at the front desk with name, age group, and gender. These roles help the parks department obtain funding to continue operation of the pools, so it is very important to sign in. Roosevelt Pool is a throwpack to 1950's pool design. Larger than most city pools, Roosevelt also is kidney shaped with several rows of concrete bleachers. This is one of the more popular pools and there are always dozens of people in the water, especially at the shallow end. It can get very crowded in the shallow area on weekends and holidays. The depth ranges from 3ft to about 10ft. There is usually ample room for swimming laps although the pool sides in the deep end can become crowded with teenagers, and we all know how they can be. Although it is a bigger pool, parking is limited, and you may find yourself waiting or walking up a stretch of hill to the entrance. There are male and female changing rooms that double as bathrooms. Roosevelt Pool is feeling its age, and you will want to be careful not to cut yourself on the rough cracks on the walls and floor of the pool. They hurt! The pool has a small waterslide for the kids, but they rarely open it up all season. Not sure why, but they just don't seem to like to. The manager for this pool is not the friendliest, and that attitude is passed along to the lifeguards who can be surly but are generally nice. Fruit and water are allowed in the pool area, but no other food. They have hourly or bi-hourly breaks for pH leveling, and you will spend between 20-30 minutes of time out of the water per break. The concrete can be very hot and shade is limited.

They also offer diving and swimming lessons, as well as a big area to just play in. I went to the Aquatic Center with a large group of teenagers that I was supervising and I was surprised at how assertive the staff were. They must have experience with unruly teenagers dive bombing off of the bleachers, because they were non too friendly while explaining the rules. Fortunately, the kids were so excited to be able to swim that they didn't mind sitting through a 15 -minute lecture. After that was over, the lady reluctantly released our group to get ready and jump in. The dressing rooms are fine, nothing special, but they do have that weird odor that comes from stagnant water sitting on the floor. I desperately attempted not to think about athlete's feet and other fungi while getting ready. They do have those cool machines that dry your swimming suits though, so that is a plus. I was excited to swim laps and dive, while most of the kids just enjoyed the recreational area. The Aquatic Center has pretty limited hours for family swim time (mostly just on weekends from 1 to 5 p.m. but with extended hours in the summer), but if you are interested in swimming laps, you'll have more options. This place isn't really fancy, but it definitely gets the job done. You can visit for only $4 or get a 16 visit punch card for $36 online. That's a great price, better than you will find most anywhere else. So if you want to get a few pounds from your waist but not your wallet, The Aquatic Center is your place.

The exhibits: wow, SO much variety! It's basically 2 stories, downstairs is the main floor area, and options! When you first enter, there's giant toy puzzles shaped as gears, then another room that takes you to a full on pretend city arena where there's little tykes cars for these kids to drive around in this pretend city, a HEB store front, airplane simulation, trolley, car wash, vet office, etc. so fun for these kids! Then another room where there's instruments like a giant piano and other fun things for kids to explore. Outside, there are 2 areas, one is a bubble play area to explore ways to play with bubbles in SO many different ways. Another outside area, playground with a giant slide, water play area with boats and things that you can imagine with water. For over stimulated kiddos, there's a room downstairs that's called a "calming room" where it's much quieter than out in the open if you need time to decompress from the chaos. Upstairs, there's a pretend to play with tools and right next to it and where you can assemble flowers. Now food wise, there's a Café Bakery Lorraine downstairs which include their macaroons, sandwiches, snack platter, crossiants, etc. It's a little pricey, but at least it's good! You are allowed to bring snacks, water inside, but not outside food like actual meals. Parking: it's free and first come first served out in the front area. Overall, we'll be back since we're now members! Excited to keep taking the kids here as there is so much to do here!

They have a good number of waterslides here as well as having all of them be completely different from the next one definitely the highlight of the slides has to be Thunder Rapids Water Coaster as it's the first of its kind in North America and wow is it fun I've never ridden a slide like this before and I found it to be super fun as well as Wet and totally unique to anything I've ever experienced before as the technology that created this is totally rad and a great way to knock out those huge stair cases! The ground here can get super hot I mean super hot and that's coming from me someone who's always barefoot at waterparks so make sure you bring some sandals or something to keep your feet cool from the burning cement or just try to walk in the shade and water spots to keep them from burning! As anyone who visits waterparks will tell you coming to one can be a great workout as well as a rewarding time as your climbing lots of staircases and getting some swim action in if you choose to do that wile your inside their huge State Of Texas shaped wave pool. The kids waited in line for about 25 minutes for the ride to breakdown; when this happens, they do not accommodate them by fast passing them later or anything like that, they are basically just told tough luck, try again later. A locker big enough to fit a backpack will run you $17.
