Food and service were great. However, the interior atmosphere was just as hot as the 95-100 degree outdoors. Talk about sweating balls. Told the kind cashier who was dripping, said "wish it could cool off too, I'll let my manager know". 5 minutes later you could feel some air. Here's tip.... when the customer walks in and has their mask in their hands and is in the process of trying to untangle to ear straps to put the thing on, don't be a jerk and demand that they put their mask on immediately. I surveyed the plate-scape in awe of size. 1/2lb patty of angus beef covered in cheddar cheese on the left bun and stringy thin onion rings over a thin layer of BBQ sauce on the right bun. With caution, I lifted a bun to assemble a burger, that was easily 4 inches high. This burger is a two hand affair, forks and knives are no match. Like a seasoned food champ, I took a bite out of it. Several bites later, I figured out why this burger tastes better than the other places... Smashburger's burger is juicy and well seasoned. Inexperienced burger makers, and novice cooks like me can make the boo boo of swatting the meat with spatula and flipping it over, and over, and over, til every last spec of juicy has vaporized. At Smashburger, their cooks have the patty cooking down to a science. The patty is cooked all the way through, without sacrificing its juicy goodness. When I see a restaurant with such friendly staff, I know management must train and teach their employees well. Employees reflect company values. The staff is very attentive. I ordered online for "curbside pickup" and showed up and waited in the spot for about 30 minutes waiting for my food to be brought out. I could see the manager inside just sitting there and he could obviously tell I didn't know I'm supposed to come in. It seems the MANAGER would've just let me sit there for hours until I came in. He was sitting there doing nothing the whole 30 minutes, he even looked directly at me several times while I was waiting. When I walked in my shake was melted and my fries where soggy. When I started eating my burger it was soooo salty, I felt like I couldn't bare it. Idk how it got so salty, also they put heapings of mayo on it and it was oozing all over the place. I really thought I had written a smashburger grade at some point, so to this place I apologise in holding off on the stars, which you mightily deserve! Every aspect of a good business is aced by nearly all the smashburgers I've visited. From service (especially) to food (epically) to style (modern, welcoming and fun). The flattened (smashed) meat is brilliant as it allows much more flavour than an ordinary patty. They hand tenderise the meat with a mallet and the flattened surface allows quicker, more even browning over a shorter time, which enhances the meat's flavour, keeps more juices in (when smashed like they do in first 60secs), softens the meat by loosening the fibers and therefore makes a much tastier product. Pair that with premium ingredients like their egg bun and very fresh lettuce. I love their buffalo version with the franks red hot and blue cheese, just outstanding flavours together. One of the tastiest burgers I can think of, and unique with the smashed/tenderised meat. The fries are my crack though. Seriously, are there better fries out there? McDonald's you have nothing on these bad boys. Olive oil, sea salt, Rosemary; amazing. Often I go to a place because they do one thing really well or for some particularly unique thing. This place has both the fries and burger meeting that criterion. And how do they always manage such good customer service? They seem so friendly, happy and eager. The burger was very juicy and hot...but not much seasoning and extremely greasy. I was wiping my hands and mouth after every bite. I used about 5 napkins lol. It wasn't gross or anything, but I was expecting to be blown away...I guess because of the name SMASHburger...I dont know. I didn't care for the fries. Since this is a venue where you go up to the counter and order they fall into the category of fast food and their preparation time is anything but fast. Moreover, the cost of their burgers are definitely pricey and in my opinion not worth what they charge. There is nothing whatsoever that's wonderful about Smashburger. I try very hard to like this place but there's so many things wrong with it that I just can't give it more than a two-star. The burgers are good except they're expensive and the wait time is ridiculous. There are three of us in my party and we get our Burgers one at a time. Inevitably me being the slowest eater is the last to get my food. The water is nasty and we've complained about it several times and it's still nasty, the prices are way too high for all the negatives. The burgers really are good but just not worth the hassle. They don't have a good enough business to Warrant more employees so they have one cashier taking orders and running food so there our food sits in the window while orders are being taken. We frequent this place quite often and used to like it; however, I seem to be a glutton for punishment. My last three experiences are as follows: Three months ago we ordered burgers to be delivered. They had LONG BLACK FAKE HAIR in all three beef burgers. I called the store and they said that that was impossible, because no one working today had long hair, and perhaps the driver put them there. Seriously?? I emailed corporate and got no response. One month ago, I popped in with my three teenage boys and grabbed milkshakes to go. They were, icy and awful. When ice cream in a cup with some flavors added doesn't pass the discerning pallet of a 13 year-old, you have problems. And my final experience, and it will be the last, we had burgers delivered again. They came shriveled, cold, and much smaller than they had been previously. And really not that tasty. I will note, the fries came in huge containers. Seeing these changes, I thought for sure the company had been bought out by an equity firm and was now cutting corners. Sure enough, in 2015 Jollibee Foods Corporation (a large Asian restaurant company) bought a 40% share, and this year they acquired the majority stake. So there you have it. I ordered a cheeseburger with fries and my husband ordered a double meat cheeseburger with fries. The total came out to $23 and some cents. As I was about to pay, I noticed the guy taking guest their food to the table. I asked the cashier if those were the burgers for $23. The guy stated they were the burgers and they were 3.5oz Angus beef. Those burgers were so small. You probably get 3 bites out of each burger. I told her to give me my money back. This was the first time we tried Smashburger and unfortunately it will probably be our last. We ordered online, but had trouble figuring out how to use the gift card we have, so we called the store for help, and they said you could only redeem the gift card in the store, which seems silly. So we ordered delivery online and just used my debit card. The order said the latest it would arrive is 7:09, the delivery didn't come until 7:45, and the food was cold. My husband asked the delivery guy where our Sprite, Milkshake, and Coke were, and he responded "Was I supposed to get those?" So we called the store again and they said we could come up there and get them...the whole point of delivery is that we don't have to go to the store (we weren't feeling well and neither if us wanted to get out). So my husband asked if they could just take the drinks off the bill and she said we would have to do that online. They were the opposite of helpful, the food was cold, and it was mediocre at best anyway. My advice is find a different burger place. read more

Ordered 2 orders online through your website for delivery. I called to change the house number on the 1st one because it was incorrect. The lady in the back was extremely rude about it and said I needed to call "them" not the restaurant. I later found out that "them" was door dash. The driver tried to get both orders because they were both ready when she got there and they were rude to her as well. So she brought the 1st order and it was missing a kids apple juice and a smash fry. The second order arrived MUCH later although it was done when the first order was and it was missing a Diet Coke. The BBQ burger, though, just leaves something to be desired. The burger was simultaneously flavorless and semi-greasy. Nowhere near enough BBQ sauce -- or maybe the sauce just didn't have much oomph to it. Also, the iced tea left something to be desired. They had high end tea (can't remember if it was Tazo or Republic of Tea) which just didn't taste like the iced tea you'd serve with a burger. This was the first time I went to a burger joint where you had to seat yourself, pay upfront for your food and then get a waiter to serve you. It was pretty strange at first, but then I guess its getting a bit popular here in Houston....not sure why since I get pretty confused every time. Regular here. While I enjoy the burgers, I also really like the smash grilled chicken sandwiches. My favorite is the avocado club, minus mayo add buffalo sauce. Yummy. The smash fries and sweet potato fries are always good sides to get and so are the fried pickles. The salads are also delicious and big, haven't been able to eat the whole bowl yet.
