I loved my classic burger, greasy and juicy - piled high. The kids loved the chicken fingers, they r delicious. Very very busy on the weekends. I was a little upset when my kids and I got a table while my husband was online waiting to order and we were asked to get up since we didn't have a number. This is what I like to call "Fancy Fast Food", it's on the list with Five Guys and Shake Shack. However, it is nowhere near as good as any of those places, but still decent and above Wendy's, Burger King, etc. Definitely NOT high quality food, which sometimes is hard for me to think about while I'm eating so I don't usually go for these places. They have alot of menu options, and I really like that they have Veggie and Bean burders, so that's a plus. Great location across from Mamaroneck train station. First point--excellent service. Ordering line is organized and moved quickly, but at least 3 different staff (busboys, servers, etc.) stopped in to ask how my burger was, did I need anything--and we're talking young people, teens. Great attitude, very rare indeed. As for the burgers, I had the Spicy Baja. It was quite good, as good or better than 5 Guys or any of the other current chains. The Smash fries were fresh + crispy, a bit on the oil side. If you want a 5-star burger you need to go tot he city and go to DB Burger or some other high-end place. Place was sparkling clean. I read the previous reviews before I posted this and it seems I'm not the only one that's had this experience. The staff was unattentive when I walked in as well while I was standing at the counter ready to order. One was cleaning off the tables and the other one was talking to get complaining about something while checking her phone. At least acknowledge me that someone would help me shortly; but she just acted like I wasn't there. So what would any other customer do in that instance, I walked out. That's the problem when you have young people not acting accordingly when the boss is not around; and if the boss is on duty, shame on them. I've never left a review in my life, but my experience at Smashburger today was so awful that I had to. My dad and I decided to stop for lunch. We had no change for the meter, he went inside to explain that we would be eating there, but needed to first ask for change. The cashier immediately looked at him and said "not my problem" and turned her back like a toddler throwing a tantrum. When he asked to speak to the manager, he lacked any social skills, and was unable to handle the attitude coming from his employee. As we were walking out with our backs turned he passive aggressively said "we aren't a bank to be giving out change". I agree, you aren't a bank sir, but you are a manager of a restaurant, and you should have control over your employees. Even more so, you should understand basic respect and needs of your customers, especially when asking for a simple request. As a business owner I understand that some things may be against policy. Never was it stated that producing change for a customer was against their policy. Maybe Smashburger should take this under consideration; along with higher standards in employee training. I can't speak to the quality of their food. Which is unfortunate because I really did want to try it. After that experience I can say I won't be going back. read more

i've given this place many chances and really wanted to like it but it's so not good. the server / service was helpful and friendly but the food was just awful. it was clean for the most part but it just seems "greasy" slippery floors and had a greasy old odor. the fries were limp and cold. the burger was greasy, overcooked, flat and so very salty. the only thing that was good was the fresh bun. i wonder if they ever tasted their product and cared. about it. i'd rather spend $2 on a mcdonald's value burger. atleast i know what i'm getting. it's a shame they haven't tried to turn this place around. it could be a great place for a quick meal. read more

This place is considerably better than the other burger concepts that seem to be popping up on every corner. My favorite is the chipotle bun smash burger and the rosemary fries. The shakes are good, not great (extremely heavy, but hey, it's a shake!). I have found the service at the counter to be friendly and attentive- again, it's a burger joint, not a Michelin rated restaurant. Terrific for what it is and great for kids. Little secret which beats the line- they now have a call in option for pick up/ to go orders. read more

i had a gift card for this place so i figured id try it. I had been here previously but wasnt crazy about it. turns out im still not crazy about it and was stuck with a 25 dollar gift card! ive had way better burgers and fries at many other places. i will give them props for their salads. i spent most of my gift card on salads there! milkshakes were good too. was not good for a burger and fries...staff was super friendly tho and i did like that i was able to get free fries on the spot for doing a survey; altho not worth it because the fries are not great. read more

What was a great family dine for tasty fast food when it first opened a couple of years ago has become a mismanaged, filthy, greasy spoon. Vanished is the great customer service when it opened, the manager who would come by and check on your service. We went on a Thursday at 7:30 and the place was less than half full but the empty half had food, cups, etc. on EVERY table. The floor was littered with fries and straw papers and receipts and our kids meal order was sent back for the second visit in a row (and returned with scalding sweet potato fries out of the fryer and served to a child). It's a $30 outing for 2 adults sharing fries and 1 kids meal. It was worth it when it was fast and clean and friendly...they are 0 for 3 in this location now. read more

Had been curious to try this spot since its recent opening. The crowd inside created great expectations and but our visit left us frustrated. Haagen Dazs shakes were delicious. That said, they forgot our burgers and kept us waiting more than thirty minutes. When the burgers arrived, they ignored our condiment requests--substituting beef for a bean burger. Ahhhhmmmaaazzzinnnngg!! We went here starving after wanderlust108 in Brooklyn. Sooooo hit the spot after a long run and yoga class!! I got the grilled chicken with spinach, tomato cucumber and goat cheese and i got the truffle mayo on the side to add to it with the skinny fries. Oh my how I love skinng fries!!! I somehow feel I can indulge with no guilt when they are tiny like that. Ok back to the sandwich; totally delish and on multigrain bread!!! Yuuuuuummmmmm!!! It felt super healthy and just what I needed. I got the grilled chick per reccomendation of the cashier (who was nice). So grateful for the recco!! And the goat cheese was abundant as well as the fresh veggies! Thank you! So why 4 stars you ask? Well there was whip on the milkshake which she didnt ask if i wanted and I haaaatteee whip! She took it off for me and returned my shake with a good bit of it low instead of adding more shake. And the shake was just ok nothin to write home about. Went to Smashburger today and was in burger heaven! At first, I thought it was overly crowded and we wouldn't be able to get a seat but I was wrong. Waited in line for about 10 minutes and in that time tables became available. I ordered the 'make your own burger': chipolte bun, lettuce, tomato, jalapenos, grilled onions, cheese..and the list goes on. Needless to say, I ate every last bite of that burger. The smash fries were also Amazing! My husband got the sweet potato smash fries..they were good but the reg. smash fries were better. This place was way better than 5 guys. It was also very clean. As we were eating workers were literally sweeping and vacuuming around us. I found that to be a bit annoying as I was trying to eat but I appreciated the cleanliness of the place. This place is always a mess. It often takes forever to get your food. Everything in the place is sticky and/or greasy. Not everyone at the table gets their food at the same time. Sometimes the kids are done before we even get our food. Burgers are hit or miss...very good or very bad depending on the cook I guess. The patties are very skimpy compared to other fast casual burger places. The tables in the booths slide back and forth at the slightest touch and it can be very annoying. When Smash burger moved into Mamaroneck, everyone was very excited. A great tasking burger fast with a to die for chipotle sauce. The honeymoon was quickly over. Charred burgers, cold fries and wrong orders is the norm now. I have attempted on several occasions to see if they have gotten back on track, but today proved me wrong. 28 min 36 seconds to get my burger and the sweet potato fries were cold and they forget to add an extra container of chipotle sauce.
