I had limited time between work engagements and sat in my car outside the door of the location closest to my work waiting for them to open at the posted time, as usual. They unlocked the door on time and I went in only to be told by the Manager they wouldn't be opening for another 30mins which is when I need to be back at work! No time now for alternative lunch plans. How about posting a sign on the door so your Valued Customers don't sit waiting for you with the only time off they have all day? The black bean burger is amazing! And you can replace a regular patty with the black bean patty for any burger on the menu! I finally understand what SMASHburger is; they smash those black beans into the patty that it is! I still remember when they first opened this particular Smashburger and my aunt and I were there every weekend. That went on for a good three months. To say we were obsessed would be an understatement. Throughout our obsession phase, it's safe to say that I've tried most of their burgers and genuinely loved and enjoyed each one. I also loved their smash fries, it was very addicting! I'm a fan of sweet potato fries and their seasoned version of it made me have dreams about it. Their shakes are to dieeee for. Food arrived at our table within minutes of ordering. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and kept the tables clear as patrons were leaving. I ordered the Buffalo and Bleu Cheese burger (regular) and the Buffalo Fries. The burger was cooked well but not dried out. My only complaint was the excessive Buffalo sauce, which was literally running out of the sides, making the experience not unlike eating wings! One doesn't expect to go through seven or eight napkins in the course of eating a burger - it was a little distracting. The flavor combinations were well done, however, and the fries were crisp and well-seasoned enough to make the Ranch dressing a useful condiment. I have been to this place many times. Most of the time they do a good job getting your order correct and out to you in a timely manner. However, the last two times I came here, I had some trouble. I had ordered something to go and it took them FORTY minutes to make my order, even though I was sitting in the waiting area where they could clearly see me. They were not busy. There were maybe three other families here at the time. When I finally got my food, it was cold, as if it had been (and it probably was) just sitting and waiting and someone didn't do their job. The last time I came here, they couldn't take any credit cards because they credit card reader wasn't working on ONE of there registers. Last nite I visited Smashburger and will probably be my last. After placing my order, it took 25 minutes to get during that time my chocolate shake became chocolate milk and the burger sat in a bag next to a warming light. In all of my visits I've never had any problems. The cook(Greg) is SO RUDE! Very unprofessional! I took my sandwich back due to the chicken being rubbery and gray. The cook asked "why should he have to remake the sandwich" and began to make it with an attitude, only after looking to see who brought the food in. I want to start by saying that my burger was good. I do not get the obsession with such thin patties that have been popping up. I like my burger juicy and thick not thin and almost crispy. Though it did taste good. My GF loves this place and was sad when I said I would not go back on my own. My biggest disappointment was the fries. I got the rosemary fries while she got the onions. I love some Smashburger, but the last few times we have been to the one on Cypresswood, we noticed that our shakes contain about half what we used to receive when we first started going there. I first went here due to the fact that my daughter has a gluten allergy, and it is one of the few places that offers gluten free buns. I also have a close friend visiting from another country, and the day she was scheduled to leave, we decided to stop here, as she is also allergic to gluten, and was excited to have a real hamburger. The girl taking orders was so busy complaining o each customer how someone had not come in, she was actually creating more of a delay. We then waited for the food, and my friend had ordered their burger with bacon and avocado. After 25 minutes (just as I was about to demand a refund), her order came and we assumed the regular two burgers would soon follow. After 5 minutes, I told my friend to go ahead and eat, and went to ask if ours would be out shortly, when once again the girl just said how she was working alone (no apology, no offer to check...) and when I asked if she could check because we now needed to leave for the airport shortly, she raised her voice and told ME not to yell. Then my friend came up and said, there was no avocado or bacon on her avocado/bacon burger. That's when I (again, not yelling, because I'm not that type), if we could just get a refund and cancel, as we could not wait another 20+ minutes. The manager then came out and gave us the refund, and I did tell him about the girl's rudeness and suggested that he might want to discuss that when a customer is not yelling and asks about an order, maybe she could just check on it. Just left here and it's getting SO much business. But it's unfortunate that half of the patrons didn't notice what was going on. Firstly, there aren't enough workers and that's indicative of the sign at the register and I wish they would find more people to work ASAP. Josh, the guy at the register, took phone orders and in person orders all at the same time. He also refilled the ice at the fountain machine because they were out, and bagged orders as they were coming out. The manager (I'm assuming) was also multitasking and got me ice so I didn't have to wait for them to fill the machine. Good stuff. After sitting down to wait for my food, though, I noticed a mess - tables needing to be cleaned,just one trashcan for us to throw out garbage, and the area where food is bagged. The young lady that eventually came out to assist Josh came out rubbing her eyes, scratching hair, wiping her mouth, all things we just do without thinking, and then proceeded to bag orders at a counter where there were no gloves or a sink to wash hands. I looked at her walk back and forth and rub eyes and scratch hair and whatever else and then bag food with no gloves. She went to the back and grabbed a bottle of sauce, walked to clean another part of the counter, and then put cups down when someone came to the register. Her hands were dirty with something on it and she looked at them and then finally went to a sink and rinsed her hands (BARELY) and then proceeded to handle the guests coming in. All while grabbing eat in orders and taking them to tables. Not once did this girl wash hands properly, use gloves, or stop herself from touching her face. It's clear that this location needs workers, and that the workers that are presently employed need to have Food Handling training. By no means am I an inspector or anything lol, but my goodness! I think this place solid overall. Every burger I had here was great, including the spicy jalapeño Baja, bacon cheeseburger, and the buffalo blue cheese. I've decided to update this review because after our bad experience, corporate sent us coupons so we would give them another chance. It took us quite a while to use them. We weren't real eager to give them another try. By the time we did, there was new management, who we met, and there was a change for the better.
