Always visit this place in Colorado didn't know we had one. It's been hard finding pescatarian options but the bean burger was amazing!!

Craving burgers on a lazy gloomy Saturday afternoon and not wanting to go far from home my honey and I decided to check out Smashburger. We had not yet been and kept getting mail from them to come check them out. It is located in a plaza with a buffalo wild wings, Jeremiahs Italian icees, pizza hut, another broken egg, and Tijuana Flats amongst a few other non-food centered businesses. The restaurant is very clean. When we arrived parking was a little tricky but we eventually found some. The restaurant was not busy at all so the parking must have been from the other establishments. When we walked up to the counter the lady was gracious, she gave us a minute to look over the big menu above her head and then promptly took our orders. We were then provided with our drink cups, a table # and we were on our way. We sat in the front of the store by the windows and placed our # on the table. Not even 10 mins later our food was out. Everything was right which was good. We both got cheeseburgers, honey got everything on his and I just got onions and the house sauce. We decided to split large fries. The cook was nice enough to split them up among our baskets. Now on to the food. It was not bad but it also nothing special. For a 'burger joint' can you fault me for expecting more? Like I said it wasn't bad and I will likely be back if I want something close by but I would rather take a bit of a longer drive to Burger Monger. Also I get that they smash their patties, but they are way too thin I was hungry a short while later. Give it a shot and decide for yourself. read more

I believe this place is called Smash burger because you have to be smashed to like these burgers or someone smashed the original decent sized beef hamburger patties and made them way too thin! Lol I hate to be the bearer of bad news for a snazzy new establishment but sadly Smash burger's patties are pathetically thin, unseasoned, bland, and quite terrible. When you think of a gourmet burger or at the very least a burger from any self respecting restaurant, you can imagine a well marinated thick juicy flavorful burger with tons of topings that you can barely fit in your mouth, not some 50 cent thin pattie double cheeseburger from McDonald's, which is basically what you're getting at this place. I tried smashburger's triple double burger, bacon avocado club burger, bbq bacon cheddar burger, and truffle mushroom Swiss burger but sadly none of the burger toppings or flavors could make up for the disappointingly thin burger patties. Smash is located on south south Dale Mabry in a plaza next to Buffalo Wild Wings, Tijuana Flats, Jeremiah's Ice cream, crunch fitness, across from Lowe's. With all the popular establishments here you may have to park in the overflow lot but theres stillnplenty of parking to be had. Smash burger is not a fun service restaurant. You have to stand in line to place your order and a server brings your meal out, yet they still charge like a restaurant for your non restaurant burger! I must admit despite the shortcomings with their burgers, Smash Burger has some top notch tater tots and stocks a great selection of locally brewed beers including the shady tree IPA by crooked thumb brewing, tampa style lager by Cigar City Brewing, Reef Donkey American Pale Ale by Tampa Bay Brewing Company, Night Swim porter by Coppertail Brewing, Midnight Espresso Coffee Porter by Motorworks Brewing, and Grandpa Jack's Pils by Crooked Thumb Brewing that do pair well with some of the burgers. Burger varieties include black bean for vegetarians, turkey and chicken for low fat, and beef for traditional. Despite Smashburger's relatively low prices, I'd have to recommend spending a couple bucks more for a decent burger from Bar Louie, Square Burgers, Burger 21, Fords Garage, or really any decent restaurant that serves burgers over this faux burger joint. All of those restaurants are much better bets for a real thick paddie restaurant style burger that will satisfy, unlike Smashburger burgers! Heck, even McDonald's, Wendy's, or Steak and shake sells a thick premium burger for $5 thats thicker than any of the burger patties offered here or even any 2 burger patties combined! read more

Definitely some good burgers to sink your teeth into. I tried out thier Spicy Guac Burger and it was simply delicious! Everything I ate from that burger tasted fresh. I really enjoyed thier smash fries. A different concept flavor I never tried, but glad I did. It might be my favorite fries to eat now. The staff there treated me nice and were attentive. I came here because Groupon was offering a great deal for $12.00. You see... you can order a $20.00 meal, but only pay $12.00. So I took advantage of it. There's not a lot of these places around the Tampa area, so if you happen to see one: go ahead and try one out. You wont be disappointed. read more

Totally fine burger, but there are better chains in Tampa. We'd been watching this place go up for months. My husband needs a weekly burger fix, and I'm always looking for new places to check out. The thought of Haagen Dazs milkshakes was very appealing. We ordered at the counter then got a table. They have high chairs. Overall, the place was clean, well lit, and service was fast and friendly. I had the avocado bacon burger without bun. They don't give the option of extra lettuce for the bun (green style or protein style), so I was picking it up with two single pieces of lettuce. It was all fine, but the burger Patty was not seasoned at all. My husband had a basic cheeseburger, and he liked it. The fries were fine. My son had the chicken tenders. These took longer to cook and came out 5 minutes after our burgers. I thought they were pretty generic tasting but fine. The milkshake came out last. They used strawberry ice cream rather than vanilla with fresh strawberries, so it wasn't the best, aalthough it was good. Parking is ample (there's a lot in back if you don't see anything in front). I prefer Burgerfi or Burger Monger, or I'll drive out to Burger 21. read more

I have stopped at this location a couple of times on my way back from Macdil Air Force Base, and both times the service has been excellent and the food is delicious! The brussels sprouts are very good as well and the burgers and fries always hot! read more

I came here for the first time and I must say it's very different. The menu is full of amazing burger options. They also have chicken and black bean versions if you don't want beef. They literally smash the burger so it's very thin. While it won't be pink in the middle (I like it medium usually) it's still very juicy and flavorful. The tater tots are the perfect texture between crispy on the outside and mooshy in the middle. I got the jalepeno Baja beef. It was certainly hot. There are fresh jalepenos so if you like that you will love this! I enjoyed it but actually had to pluck out a jalepeno alive at the end. The smash sauce is awesome and has a twist of lime which is actually perfect and made the burger. What really got me was the brussel sprouts. They are to die for!!!! Crispy and salty (I like salty things though so if you are not a fan of salt you might not like these as much) but they are perfectly cooked. The BBQ burger needed a tad more sauce but was also good. I downloaded the app and signed up and got a great coupon. I will def be back to try the chicken and the black bean burger. read more

Stopped here while traveling and SMASH never disappoints! We love our local Smash-location & this was just like home (always GREAT food, cooked perfect, served hot, clean environment). I love the true-GOURMET-burgers the SMASH-way, just makes them so juicy & full of flavor, IMHO it's a step above other burger-places! 4 burgers and some fries took 43 minutes!!! There were only 3 other small parties in the shop so it wasn't busy. The food wasn't even hot when it came out. Smash Burger was my first restaurant experience similar to the old fashioned cast iron burgers I'd get at home. @smashburger_tampa did not disappoint! I wish some of the burgers I tried in Alabama were on the menu but maybe it's regional. So don't look forward to the fried green tomatoes as a topping option. When visiting this restaurant make sure to check that the food preparers are wearing gloves. In my personal experience the food preparers were not wearing gloves while handling my food. Also took 10+ minutes waiting on a simple burger and fries. Who ever is in charge must be oblivious to this because I've also witnessed the manager on duty "bump" my order off the screen before my meal was ready because the fries were taking too long. Fries should not take any more than 5 minutes yet there I was waiting for my food past 10 minutes. I also made a complaint via the survey on the receipt, but have heard nothing back yet.. So who knows if the people in charge really care! Next section is for the people in charge. I've worked in this industry of work before, and the owners/managers are able to see the ticket times(at the end of day or week), but when you have people "bumping" the ticket before the food is ready how is management supposed to correct the problem if they don't know about it. Send some possibly personal "mystery shoppers" in and have then pay attention to these things I've mentioned. Guarantee you'll see what I'm talking about. read more

In my own personal opinion, THE worst burger, bun, fries combo in the business. Too complicated to order for first timers. They really push the rewards program rather then the product. In the confusion I forgot to get a drink & had to go thru line behind another person confused about the menu. Strawberry lemonade is the worst! Not sure what the attraction is but I'll take BurgerFi or just a plain old whopper over this meal. read more

Great burgers, but one night a few weeks ago I placed an online order. Waited a few minutes and went to pick it up. Person who came to the register wasn't wearing a mask until I asked. Insisted I hadn't placed an order so I showed them the email. Finally got a manager who realized it was a GrubHub order that apparently comes in on a separate tablet no one bothered to check. Moved outside the glass front doors to wait on the order because, despite the local mandate for masks, they weren't very concerned. (The manager I spoke with claimed there was no requirement...so much for being on top of this thing.) Then the order was left on the counter for sometime. I would love to tell you about the food; however, after standing in like for 10 minutes behind two people (at 8:45pm, yes they close at 9) they told us that their manager made an exception for those two orders and they could not take anymore orders. Was excited to try this place- has great potential- nice location and hip restaurant inside. Customer service could use some improvement. Staff was not conscious of pandemic- no social distancing in restaurant, no observed cleaning after being and eating there for an hour and seeing multiple parties use same tables/soda fountain, ALL staff did not wear masks or wore mask improperly, did not enforce mask policy with visitors entering/exiting. I also never saw any of the staff wear gloves or wash their hands. I would watch the cashier handle money and give customers their receipts then go directly to the kitchen to help- yikes! Where is the hand washing? I saw this happened multiple times. Restaurant is pretty understaffed and they had many to go orders. Personally I thought the food was okay, nothing special. Seemed like they were just rushing the food and it didn't taste as fresh and well prepared as it could. Didn't think it was worth it sadly. read more

A solid 3 star experience. I like the concept of either picking a burger concoction off their menu or having the option to create it yourself. All of their burgers, whether a standard menu item or custom item, can be made on a traditional beef patty, turkey patty, or grilled chicken. I ended up trying the jalapeno burger on a turkey patty. Overall, it was a decent turkey burger and even had slices of fresh jalapeno piled on top of the burger. The fries were standard with the meal option and nothing to write home about. Condiments are on the table, but all of the ketchup bottles around us were empty on our visit. Overall a great concept, but for the prices I think they could do better with quality. read more

First time trying Smashburger today and I'm glad we did...not sure why we waited so long to try it? The establishment was clean (including the bathrooms) and the staff was knowledgable and friendly. The food did not take very long to come out and when it did, everything was hot and fresh. We ordered two kids meals and two Big burgers. I've read their standard burgers are on the smaller side but the big burger seemed to be just the right size. I 've been to Smashburgers in three different states and good is always quality, tasty, prepared just right. They have several choices for you with different bums, meat and toppings. Shakes and Malts as well as fountain drinks. There are some healthy options. Everything is fresh. There is indoor and outdoor seating. I eagerly awaited the opening of Smashburger, but my experience was disappointing. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it was not very busy. I placed a to-go order of two of the craft-your-own burgers and a side of veggie frites. I got a turkey burger with 3 toppings (goat cheese, smash sauce, and haystack onions). The burger itself had decent flavor, but they left off the goat cheese entirely (which was on the receipt and I paid extra for), and there was a tiny amount of sauce. It was basically a dry burger with onion strings. My boyfriend got a beef burger with several toppings and asked if they forgot the sauce, because his was also very dry. To me the main draw of a place like this is the toppings, so if you can't get that right, it's unacceptable. The veggie frites were well-seasoned, but a bit too oily for my taste. I might give this place another chance. The staff was friendly. The food has potential, but I hope they work on their execution. read more

They told me my 1st walked in that if you awhile before I could Order my take out which was fine I understood they were busy after about 15 minutes someone finally took my order. Then I tried that what are milkshake and was told that they do not have ice cream which I found odd but I said OK. I wait about 30 minutes go back in the store to pick up my order to see the man who told me they were did not have ice cream making 3 milkshakes for the people who are just ordered. There is a serious dearth of quality burger chains in South Tampa and in Tampa Bay in general. The trend of fast casual yet high quality burger restaurants has not caught on in Tampa Bay yet. There just aren't that many joints in Tampa Bay where you can get things like a whole grain bun, fresh toppings, a turkey or vegan burger, decent sides like onion straws, and NOT have to be waited on by a waitress. To me, this is restaurant quality food in a fast food setting. With that in mind, I'm going to lower my standards just a bit and say that Smashburger is pretty good. I have only had the turkey and chicken burgers. The fries and the onion straws were also decent (although too salty). I have not had the beef burgers or the shakes. Burger 21 is definitely better than Smashburger, but Burger 21 is not in South Tampa where I live or in may places period. read more

First (and last) time trying Smashburger. The $13 Classic Double I ordered was a greasy wad of tasteless hamburger and generic ingredients (flavorless cheese, questionable vegetables). It was far worse than anything you'd order from any a lower end fast food menu, at three times the price. Impossibly, the "haystack" onion rings I ordered as a side were even worse. This is the best burger spot. Always super fast on orders and the sweet potato fries are killer! The website is user friendly and real nice to navigate for ordering and paying. Especially love that the ladies working there are so sweet all the time. Even though they already have sweet potato fries it would be AWESOME to have sweet potato waffle fries!! read more
