I can't tell you how many Plumbers and general Handymen ignore you when you need them urgently...Not Steve. He is ON TIME. The day of my Appointment he called and told me he was a minute away from my location. Guess what, he was knocking at my door in exactly one minute! Freakishly on Time. He arrives neat and clean. That day he had a young man as an assistant which I thought was admirable to give the guy a way to make some money. Steve was Personable, easy to get along with, knowledgeable at his craft and Professional. In NO TIME, the issue with my wall furnace was corrected and the Heater was good as new. As it turned out, the issue with my wall heater was less Complicated than I described to him over the phone. So concurrently and by his Own will, he charged me far less than the quote I agreed to pay for the service Initially which proves that he is an Honest and Trustworthy person. Another plumber would have deceitfully taken as much money from me as he could... NOT Steve. Being a Young Woman I appreciate an honest Workman that I feel I can trust and Steve proved his Morality with that Gesture. I had a simple problem: my tub wouldn't drain. After trying myself to hook the hair out of the p-trap and using a drill-attached snake, I wasn't able to clear the blockage. I called SMB Rooter and talked to Steve, who was courteous and professional. He told me that even though his day was packed, he would figure out a way to squeeze me in. He was communicative in calling me later in the day to give an accurate time frame for being out, as well as calling to let me know he was on his way. There was the possibility of breaking the tub drain plug when trying to take it off for snake access, but he talked with me and made sure that was okay before proceeding (he ended up being able to remove it without it breaking). He also noticed a missing gasket and installed that at the tub overflow at no additional charge. He cleared the blockage like a champ, cleaned up when he was finished, and ended up charging me less than he had quoted over the phone. Overall, I was very satisfied with SMB Rooter. read more

Wow. Steve just saved the day! Moved into a new place after a "handyman" worked on it for 2 months and everything he fixed has gone haywire (cabinets, washer dryer, kitchen sink, hot water heater, etc) but tonight the bathtub started spraying water everywhere so we called Steve and he came through to "just help out." He had our main shut off in minutes, fixed our faucet and water heater without strain and was just great all around. If you live in San Pedro Steve is your guy. This is the first Yelp review I am writing in my life, I hope that shows how impressed I am with Steve's work. Just as a background, I am an engineer, very handy, and a general contractor. So, I think I can say that I know a good tradesman when I see one. SMB was the 3rd company I called regarding the recent clogged up kitchen sink of our lovely old home in San Pedro. The other two, let me just say that I knew in minutes I was going to be over-charged by an inexperienced crew, and that the final cost was open ended. Steve scheduled the job quick, showed up on time, immediately demonstrated his knowledge & experience by correct assessment of the issue. His price was very reasonable, his work exceeded my expectation. His customer service was superb! He even called me back later to recommend couple other trades people which I had asked about. I was drinking my coffee in the kitchen this morning and heard what sounded like water running through the pipes very faintly. I verified that no water was running anywhere inside, and then crawled under the house to find a pipe with a pinhole leak spraying water underneath the kitchen. I shut off the main supply and then started looking for plumbers to call. My wife handed me a number for someone who had cleared a toilet years earlier. He was not available immediately and could not promise when he might make it. I looked up Steve and read some of his reviews and called him. He answered and told me he was headed to another job but promised to call me shortly and let me know when he could make it. I also put calls in to a couple other plumbers but everyone was busy or I left messages and there were no promises when they would be available. To make a long story short, Steve was here within about an hour of us talking with two workers. Steve crawled under the house to verify the problem, took some pictures and discussed the fix with me, provided an estimated cost, then directed his guys to perform the repair needed before he headed back to his other job. He promised to come back within a couple hours to check on the work, and his guys got to work. They replaced the bad section of pipe and removed an old galvanized section that was rubbing and possibly damaging the copper pipe. The job was completed in less than 2 hours and the invoice I received was less than I expected. I did get a call back from one of the other plumbers about 2 hours after the guys had left, and was happy to wave them off since the issue was already resolved. My wife was very happy with how quickly the issue was resolved. Steve is a local and knows a number of my neighbors from doing work in the area. I will definitely use these guys again and will recommend them to anyone. read more

We called Steve after encountering a main line backup. We had tried to snake the drain ourselves and were unsuccessful. Steve arrived within the time limit that he had set, and he was able to give us a reasonable estimate. Once he returned with the equipment he needed, the process took all of about 20 mins.
