My wife and I have had imaging done at SMIL as well as Simon Med, and have generally been more satisfied with SMIL. However, I recently scheduled a CTA at SMIL and they told me they no longer provide a disk with the images. I was told it was expensive to make the discs and the images could be viewed on the Patient Portal. Well, the resolution of the images from the portal are questionable, and having a quality copy is pretty important to me. Unfortunately I have no other option but to cancel my appointment with SMIL and go to Simon Med. read more

This is a year overdue. I had a mammogram here and was correctly diagnosed from that test with breast cancer. EVERYONE was so kind and thoughtful. It wasn't until afterwards that I learned there was another imaging place called Simon Med Imaging that is a completely different company that I had checked out BEFORE I found SMIL. Today I had a breast U/S by Crystal, a diagnostic medical sonographer (ultrasound technician) at the Gilbert location off of Rome St. This is my second time having her perform my U/S and she is amazing! Crystal is kind, professional, caring, supportive, compassionate and personable. She is perfect for this job, obviously knowledgeable and makes you feel peaceful. I will definitely be requesting her for any future testing. I highly recommend you request her for any U/S testing you may need. I prayed for her to be my tech today and was so grateful God answered my prayer! read more

Horrible billing! They up coding after a simple spine X-rays! My benefit reads 80/20! I pay 20% of the contracted amt for all radiology! But this place codes it as an office visit as tho I seen an MD! They will not discuss it, just say this is how we bill! Check before you go! Be weary! Check and check again! read more

I went to SMIL on August 6 to have a PET Scan. The purpose was to see if there was any cancer left after my radiation treatment. Two weeks later I had no results so I had to start calling. After a few calls I got my results. They either mixed up my results or the radiologist doesn't know what he is doing. It said that I had a double mastectomy and implants for reconstruction. I know guys get breast cancer but I have not. It's now September 5 and after calls from my physician and myself I still have no results. I wonder how they would feel if it were their spouse or parent waiting for life changing results? read more

Nobody likes going to the doctor and I am certainly no exception. It can run from discomforting to just plain scary if you don't know what to expect. SMIL does imaging, so if you are like me you are there because something out of the ordinary is going on, so you are already stressed just walking in and don't know what to expect. Fortunately the practitioners working there are masters of putting the patience at ease and explaining what they are doing in laymen's terms, BEFORE they do it, so nothing comes as a surprise. I hope I don't ever need another ultrasound, but if I do I will definitely make my next appoint at SMIL. Oh, and my own concern turned out to be nothing but at least I know. read more

I have been coming to SMIL for 10 plus years and have had such great experiences here that I have referred others many times, and continue to go back. Things changed for me this month. An unrelated issue requiring a CT scan resulted in an additional area of concern that required further evaluation. The CT scan was performed elsewhere. During the MRI at SMIL, I was advised my CT scan imaging previously completed was requested and a comparison would be made and the report would be issued. The CT scan was not obtained for comparison, the report received contained less information than the previous CT scan. $750 later, I had less information and more questions. Upon calling I was told to the report was final and no further assessment would be done. Feeling this was done hastily, I requested it be further reviewed, my request was declined, although told my doctor could request this. My doctor did request this, SMIL declined the request. I called SMIL several times to speak to someone about how I felt regarding my test and was just given excuses. So, after posting a negative review, SMIL did reach out to me. That communication resulted in more of the same, SMIL evidently feels justified in how this was all handled. First, by issuing a report PRIOR to having previous imaging for comparison. Second, by failing to report any specific details of the specific reason sent. Third, by declining a patients' own desire to advocate for themselves. Fourth, by also DECLINING the referring physicians request. Lastly, why reach out if the intention to just tell the patient more of what they won't do and further defend why SMIL feels justified in this treatment of a patient. I do not recommend SMIL, will discontinue going there myself, and let those know that I have referred there of this recent outcome. No wonder so many people fall through the cracks in our healthcare system. Even in being diligent and advocating for myself, I am only met with resistance. For the sake of clarity, to date, I still do NOT have any more information that I originally had WITHOUT the $750 MRI. read more

The reception area is cool and comfortable and the intake reception for patients is immediately upon arrival with a friendly and welcoming greeting by Stephanie. There is no line as the receptionists are prompt and efficient in processing insurance and medical orders for the testing. Stephanie was welcoming, friendly, efficient and well versed in insurance coverage and plans accepted as well as Patient Portal guidelines information to access for communication and results. This facility understands that Reception and the placement of efficient individuals as Stephanie, are key important factors in representation of the facility. My ultrasound technician, Madison, was highly skilled and trained in medical sonography and competent in complete anatomical understanding, including correctly identifying major organs in performing the sonogram as well as recording anatomical and physiological information correctly and accurately for interpretation by a physician. Madison not only ensured my comfort during the testing and performed the test precisely with attention to detail to ensure clear photographs for the interpreting radiologist and ordering physician. Madison advanced professionalism and a full understanding of and adherence to protocols, certification standards and state and federal laws during the exam as well as kindness and people skills, such as compassion, to help me as a patient feel assured and comfortable during the testing. I have been going here for regular scans for over a year. Today, the office manager was out and it was obvious. Employees laughing and joking loudly behind the desk all the while there are several people that needed to be checked in ( I was one of them). Tiffany, the person whoo stuck my IV in was , well, a bitch. Slamming doors, very cold, and not a good one to start an IV. This place used to be wonderful, but not anymore. Easy to get to easy to leave they has indoor parking which is really nice in the summertime and facility is not clean, carpet in lobby is nasty and they lost a star. Who is the manager, get with a cleaning program filthy carpet and chairs in the entire waiting area. We expect more of a medical facility. I said hello to a clerk she said "I'm very busy" okay, Well I'm a patient but who cares right? Suggestion: Hide her in the back away from patients and don't let her have a phone. I went to get a drink from that water dispenser that's on top of moldy carpet, but there were no cops And none in the trashcan that means it is either not operating hours not had cups for a while. My son is a disabled adult with Autism and I am his legal guardian. I had a very unfortunate encounter with a person named Jenny that was very rude and insisted that my son sign his own form even though I told her it would not be legal or binding if he signed. She told me she didn't want to get in trouble because she didn't see any notes in his account.She ultimately threw the tablet at me to sign. I am so upset that I decided to post this and will speak to her manager on Monday. It is very unfortunate since everybody at this location has always been so nice. read more

This is only in regards to the receptionist and front desk staff. Techs are fantastic. Was told "Walk-ins welcome" When I arrived, I was told by the receptionist that I'd be seen shortly after handing in my referral for an XR which takes at max 5 minutes. Everyone who was seated which was about 10 were already seen ahead of me, which is understandable! However, 30 minutes past and 15 people who arrived after I did were seen promptly before me. I check in with the receptionist who says "I should be seen shortly and someone is in my chart", 20 minutes past and then someone calls me for registration. It took nearly an hour just for someone to check me in and not even take me in for an XR. My issues with this place is that absolutely no expectations are set and you are vaguely told that you'll be seen "shortly". Don't hire someone to work at the front desk if they don't know how to interact and communicate with patients who are your business and don't tell patients you accept walk-ins if it comes without any notice that everyone who checks in after you will be seen before you. Additionally, it's extremely unprofessional to be talking about who you go on a date with, etc in front of patients when we can hear everything and everyone giggling in the back. I won't be returning here and will be going to Simon Med for my imaging. read more

I needed x-rays for a knee problem and happened to be shopping near this location, so dropped in without an appointment. It was not terribly busy, so they estimated between a 30-45 minute wait. Each person I encountered was professional, friendly and helpful. The lobby and waiting rooms are pleasant. I got called back after 20 minutes. Another 20 minutes and I was done. I had an MRI at the Gilbert office of SMIL today. It was a great experience. The staff were wonderful: friendly, efficient, and helpful. Everything went smoothly. I was seen promptly at my appointment time, no waiting. After signing in, I was greeted by Marilyn, who took me back to the patient area, helped me finish my paperwork, explained the process, answered my questions, inserted my IV (for contrast) expertly, and promptly took me to the MRI where she and Erica, the MRI tech, got me set up for the MRI. I explained to Erica that I am claustrophobic, and she took extra pains to explain how she would keep in touch with me during the MRI, which she did. With a cloth over my face and contact by microphone every few minutes from Erica, I really didn't have any anxiety during the MRI. I wasn't conscious of being in the tube. And curiously, I found the intense noises made by the MRI to be helpful, as they took my mind off thinking about being in a claustrophobic space. This also is important: the Gilbert office has faster MRIs than some other offices. I had read online that my type of MRI would take 45 minutes, which I was dreading. But the GIlbert MRI took my less time, about 30 minutes, including contrast. It was a peaceful experience, which I didn't expect and for which I am very grateful, as I was not sure I could go through with an MRI. (In full disclosure, per my doctor, I did take a Diazepam two hours before the MRI, and that may also have helped.) After the MRI, Erica helped me back to my belongings locker and find my way out. Honestly, this was the best MRI experience I have had at SMIL. Not that the other SMIL offices aren't great, but everything at the Gilbert office today was topnotch: staff, equipment, friendliness, and efficiency. Thanks, Gilbert SMIL!!! read more

Read the reviews. Was told on phone testing would be covered be insurance. If there was any issues they would call me. They called to confirm appointment. Had no caffeine for 24hrs and drove 40 minutes to get there early to fill out paperwork. Once there was told not covered by insurance and would have to pay out of pocket for entire test. Was very upset that was told one thing then they switched it up. They were unwilling to do anything about what i was told. Letter got a call stating they should have called me to let me know it wasn't covered. I would not recommend any business that states one thing and changes it without letting go you know. Terrible way to treat people and huge waste of my time. read more

THREE TIMES!! I was scheduled for a mammogram. Each time turned away for reasons such as they cannot find my provider, they stopped taking my insurance, etc. each time after driving 30 minutes to get to my appointments and they are soooo busy that they have to schedule you out months at a time! Each time they say the call and or text me, I literally show them my phone showing ZERO calls, ZERO texts, ZERO voicemails!! Checked and made sure each time they have my correct number on file! The women at the front just say, they have nothing to do with that and they are just reading the notes in my file! Unreal! Let's hope nothing is wrong with me that could have been detected MONTHS ago!!! Horrible experience , not once but three times!! Ive never dealt with this with any facility, ever!!! read more

When you are a distinguished woman of 40, you are sworn into the ranks of women who must give more adequate attention to breast health. That being said, this was my year to put the girls into the vice. SMIL (like "Smile") was recommended by my OB/GYN, and I was provided orders to call for an appointment. SMIL has great online appointment setting, also allowing you to scan in your order and testing sheet, and to answer your check-in questions ahead of time. They also schedule text, e-mail, etc. reminders as your appointment approaches. The facility was easy to find - inside and to the east side of a medical building to the south of Mercy Hospital. The waiting room was quiet, open and clean. There was a little restroom "cave", several chairs and benches, and some [recent] reading materials. I checked in at the desk, and was called back up for my insurance card pretty much before I could plant into a chair. The gal at the desk was very friendly, and I'm sure they chat you up a bit, to ease the tension you may feel, knowing that you are about to be man-handled for the greater good. The tech called me back almost instantly after check-in, and took me to a very nice changing room. I was given a crisp top and a fabric bag for my own belongings. They had lockers, but you could just bring the bag with you to the exam room. The changing rooms had modern frosted sliding doors, seating and a sanitary disposal for worn linens. The exam room was as one would expect: sanitary white, dark, and containing a giant machine that was looking forward to grabbing me inappropriately. I could see it in its red mechanical eye. Ladies, it's not fun. But it's not the worst ever. A few glamour shots of the girls, and we were well on our way back to the changing room. The tech was very friendly, and explained everything so that I would feel more comfortable. The machines now rotate to you, and not the other way around, so it made for a less awkward time. By the time I made it home, I had a phone call from my doc telling me that I had an awesome, clear set of ta-tas! Hooray for health! Get it done, ladies! And when you do, I recommend SMIL. read more

Zero stars!!! I have been attempting to schedule a biopsy for a week. The call back feature does not work. I have tried it on the different days this week with no return call back. Scheduling online does not work. It says a response from scheduling will take place within 1 business day. It's been 3 days already. Waiting on the phone you hear an estimated wait time that does not change even though your on hold longer and longer. This is complete unacceptable! Placing blame on system outages and upgrades for more than a week is ridiculous. The VA isn't even this bad. Wow what happened to you SMIL. F+ rating currently. read more

Great place to get your mammogram, very thorough, if they think they see something they take more images. Very blessed to have found them.

I have been going to this facility for about 16 years. They were FANTASTIC back then. It was easy to make appointments, and on the day of a mammogram, a preliminary report was given. Now it takes over a month to schedule an exam (I have had this problem with a CT scan, MRI and now mammogram). The mammograms are no longer looked at while there, with a text message or email being sent at a later date. The biggest change I have noticed was wait time (I sat in the waiting room almost 20 minutes) before being registered and was blamed for being late for a test! When I said I was there early, all I got was a shrugged shoulder from the woman who greeted me with no acknowledgment of my frustration. The volume of patients has really increased with each passing year there. It is no wonder that the staff does not seem to care how I was feeling yesterday. They were probably overwhelmed with their responsibilities, were calloused to my concerns and just wanted to get through the day. I hate to even say this, but I am going to be looking elsewhere most likely for another facility that seems to care more about the patient and not their volume. I really used to love it there and wouldn't think of leaving if things were different. read more

They are so informative, encouraging and educating me on the latest and greatest technology. It's always scary when you're waiting for results that may or may not be life changing.
