I recently got an MRI at this location and it was as smooth as these things go. I had a snafu (totally my fault) with the paperwork and Karla at reception was very helpful getting things straightened out so I could still get the imaging done without rescheduling for another day. So grateful for her patience and help! Kariann and Greg took good care of me during the actual MRI. They walked me through the process and made sure I was comfortable while in the machine. I can't say enough good about these people! I went in for x-rays right after hip surgery. From when I walked in the door and was greeted with a huge smile and much patience from the receptionist to when I got the actual x-rays done by amazinging patient, competent, compassionate techs, it was truly a great experience. I had anticipated pain, impatience, a long wait, etc. But none of those happened! Special kudos to Deanna who knew just how to help me maneuver without causing me pain. read more

I would take this issue directly to SMiL, but there is no way for me to find and contact the correct person from their patient portal (which also needs a serious UX overhaul.) My MRI done at SMIL missed the herniated disc which was my primary complaint and was previously diagnosed by SimonMed. Thankfully my doctor rejected the result outright since it would constitute a miracle and returned it to be examined again. He said I am not the only patient of his this happened to this month and he will no longer send patients there. This serious error resulted in me waiting for three weeks, afraid that my back pain was now inexplicable and took away valuable time to plan for upcoming surgery. I cannot emphasize enough how stressful and frustrating this time was under the impression of the misread result. SMIL also never contacted me or updated the information available to me, which would have done a great deal to put me at ease. This misread of the results also put an unnecessary hurdle in getting my surgery covered by my insurance, my doctor narrowly allowed me to avoid what would have been a six-figure mistake. If the person reading the results is making this many errors with a single doctor, this is a major problem. There's nothing that can be done to restore the time and sanity I lost due to this incompetence, but I need the people making decisions to understand its impact upon me. read more

I just went into the old Town Scottsdale location and was treated extremely rudely!! This is not the first time I have had an encounter like this with this company. On their form it states that it is walk-in, but they changed the company policy and forgot to update the forms. Not my problem. If they want to consider themselves a professional company and maybe they should be professional that would be a good start. At this point I consider it too late for apology. read more

Wow! My appt was for 8am and I am writing this at 8:03am and am done... just waiting in the waiting room now to get my CD if my images right away, no medical facility has ever made it so easy! This place is amazing. Peaceful, welcoming, kind and check out the room with the CT scan- so nice! Even little light up faces above your face on the machine telling you when to breath and hold your breathe with the countdown of seconds. Thanks Rebecca & SMIL for making this so easy! read more

12 days post imaging and the exam was not read. Response to my question of why it has not been read was that there is a Radiologist Shortage. The person in Medical Records was nice but even the nicest employees do make up for poor cooperate policy. I worked in this field and I have worked with this group before it was sold to private equity and readings were typically done that day within hours or if outside imaging was requested for comparison 3 days max. The whole purpose of my next Dr. Appointment was to discuss the results of this exam in 2 days. Will it be done by then????? Who Knows!!!!!! read more

My doctor placed an order for imaging with Southwest Medical Imaging, LTD (SMIL). I received a robo-call telling me that SMIL had the order and telling me to call to set up an appointment. I called SMIL Scheduling and a computer voice told me that the wait time for someone to answer the phone would be over an hour, "...would you like to leave a callback number?" I've recently had other images done at SMIL and, yes, it always takes at least an hour for a scheduler to answer the phone (clearly that is not the fault of the nice schedulers; that's an upper management decision. According to SMIL's LinkedIn page, "Southwest Medical Imaging is fully owned and operated by our 42 board-certified and fellowship-trained radiologists". Less money spent on schedulers, more profits for the 42 owners.) I told the scheduler that I had an order from another doctor for an X-ray. The scheduler said I did not need an appointment for the X-ray. When I arrived at the McKellips SMIL location this morning, I let them know that I had the additional order. The person behind the counter said, "You needed to schedule that." My reply, "I tried and was told by scheduling that I did not need to pre-schedule it." The talk behind the counter went, "Scheduling always does this to us." It didn't take long for me to be taken back to change into a gown and the wait for the tech to do the procedure. The wait for the tech was normal. Finished with the first image and back in the waiting room we waited.....and waited.....and waited (yea, I see the pun). My wife had a doctor's appointment that she had to get to so she went to the desk and asked how long it would be. The answer was, "Someone came in with a bunch of orders." Then we watched as employees with lunch bags (it was now Noon) filed into a breakroom. Twenty minutes later, we had to leave in order to make her appointment. During our long wait, no one ever came to us to tell us why it was taking so long. I left without getting the X-ray. In the car, my wife mused that those orders might have been from the Chipotle across the street. If you go into a Chipotle and it takes them an hour to complete your order, possibly you'll go somewhere else the next time. I won't be going back to SMIL. By the way, the Chipotle across the street is pretty good! Mayby if a lot of people do that, they won't be so swamped. read more

I had a X ray and MRI scheduled. Because of a medical condition, I also have to have a X-ray done after MRI's. I have had them done at the Bilmore and Tatum locations before, and had nothing but positive experiences. That day, not so much. The MRI and X-ray Techs were awesome. The front office staff, were a different experience. I have to get a x-Ray done before and after MRI'S. Because they don't schedule X-ray's, I am asked to get there by 1:40. Not a big deal. But I coming in from 20 miles away because this is a urgent MRI, and I have been in constant pain for days, to which the drive did not help. (I check in, and they ask for co-insurance up front. Not a big deal, but that has not happened before in my interactions with SMIL. Turns out, I was overcharged. And even though I have a EOB, the billing department swears they haven't heard anything from my insurance and won't refund the money until they get a check from my insurance. But I digress.) The receptionist gets past collecting my co- insurance then mentioned the X-ray. She proceededs to start canceling one of the orders , saying I could get my X-ray done before or after the MRI. I had to explain why there was two orders. I sat down and waited, and getting to be more uncomfortable and in pain by the moment, I asked the second receptionist when exactly I was scheduled for the MRI appointment. She said 2:40. O.K, so I have 40 minutes to go. Some more time passes, and Im now getting nauseous, I'm in so much pain. I explained my predicament to the second receptionist. I asked her if she could call me when they were ready to do the X-ray, as I was in a lot of pain, I needed to lie down in my car. She asked what car was mine, and I pointed it out to her. She said she would let the tech know where I was so she could get me. Cool. I go to my car and stretch out. It's now 2:20. I go back in, my appointment is in 20 minutes. I use the restroom, and make sure the receptionist knows I'm back. I'm sitting in the waiting room, getting progressively more miserable. I remind the receptionist of how it can take to get that x-ray, and ask if there was an ETA I'm when I was going back. I get a curt, "they are aware of your X-ray." so I sit down and wait some more. A walk-in x-ray comes in, referred from across the street. They get him checked in, and take him back. The gentleman comes out, very happy, remarking into the receptionist how fast it was. Now it's 2:39. My schedule dimmer eye appointment is in 1 minute. I asked again, and get a curt "they know about your x-ray". I loose it, crying. I asked why a walk in x-ray got processed, take him back, and left. The receptionist becomes defensive, and go to your appointment at 2:40. I point out it's now 2:40, I'm in a crap ton of pain,and I really want an explanation of what's going on. I didn't get told that the X-ray tech did come out while I was in my car, and I'm going to need to wait. Well, turns out there was an X-ray tech in the back room that overheard this conversation, came right out, got my file, took me right back, and apologized profusely for the delay. The X-ray tech and MRI tech were great. They helped me, did their best to keep me comfortable, and kept me updated on when they could get me on the MRI table. I understand things can be delayed. Especially MRI's. These ladies did everything I could hope for in an imaging center. The front office staff could have given a more nonchalant, couldn't give a crap, attitude. They made no effort to help me, keep me updated, make a phone call, or even bother to tell the X-ray tech I was back in the building once I came back for my car. I will be back to SMIL, just not this location. read more

I'm here @ SOUTHWEST Medical Imagining (NOT "Scottsdale") here on McKellips/Stapley in Mesa. My daughter forgot her referral from her OB, but Mary and Amanda at the front desk were so helpful. They gladly called her OB's office and requested a new referral to be sent over, and it was as easy as that! Or at least they made us feel like it was easy as that. Mary also was very helpful when it came to setting up a payment plan for her insurance deductible. Her technician did a great job and we were in and out in under 30min! read more

Went to facility at Stapley & Mckellips In Mesa. Scheduled an appointment with a very pleasant lady who took down my information. Facility is clean & the workers helpful. Brief wait before X-ray taken. Very professional. Chose them because of the poor Yelp reviews on Simon. Wasn't disappointed in my choice. Would definitely use them in the future & highly recommend SMIL! read more

Services completed 8/7/2020. They overcharged me at time of appt. After I received by Insurance Explanation of Benefits on 9/4/2020, I contacted them continuously. Here is is 1/21/2021 and they have yet to refund my money. Horrible customer service. I will never go back. read more
