I should have written this review 15 years ago... BUT, I have been a loyal patient of Dr. Basha/Smile Design for over 15 years. I have always been one of those patients terrified of the dentist, which makes me a difficult patient indeed! Dr. Basha is the most gentle dentist I have ever seen, and he is always so kind and patient when I am nervous and squirming in the chair. Over the years, I find that I am less and less nervous as he has proven that he will never actually hurt me. I have had crowns re-done, an implant, a root canal, fillings replaced, you name it, he's done it, and never once have I had an issue. The entire staff, especially Rosa and Maya and the hygienists are warm and welcoming and are basically family now! They are efficient, bill correctly, and are clear and honest about costs and insurance. If you are nervous at the dentist, this is the place for you - take it from me, if I can finally trust my time in the chair, you can too! read more

This place was a great find. I came in because I was without insurance and I chipped my tooth. From my first interaction with the administrator at the front desk I feel like she had my best interest at heart. The dental hygienist was just as nice and welcoming. Dr. Basha saved my mouth! I was having pain and he did an in depth exam and x rays and found the problem. He fixed it and then started a plan to fix my other teeth and was affordable. Highly recommend and the office staff are so helpful and kind plus trying to help you have a good experience even though it's the dentist. read more

Dr Basha has been my dentist for over 5 years and quite honestly, I would travel miles to continue to be in his care. He and the office staff are extremely professional and caring. Simply amazing! Being in my 70's, I've been to many dentists in my life. There are some that were very good but they aren't even on the radar compared to Dr. Basha. In the current environment I'm used to hearing, "I don't do that, the surgeon will be here next Thursday, let me refer you to an endodontist" and on and on. I had cracked a tooth the night before, called Dr. Basha's office the next morning and due to a cancellation, was in the chair by 2:30 that afternoon. It wasn't an easy job to say the least but I was there less than 1.5 hours, tooth removed, graft in place and out the door. I just realized it has been 2 years since I posted my original review and I wanted people to know I'm happier than ever! I don't know if it is possible to look forward to going to see your dentist, but I am. As we get older, I've discovered that a lot of the old work that had been done years ago just isn't holding up any longer and needs updating. I also realize that teeth need more care as we age. Dr. Basha continues to be the best dentist I have ever visited and I am a client forever! His gentleness, sense of humor, thoroughness and professionalism continue to amaze me and I am so grateful I discovered him. Five stars for sure and if there is a 10 stars I wold give it to this Dr. I have a crown that fill that was done long time ago with another dentist back in my home country. My insurance sent me to ANOTHER dentist as this Dr. Is not covered by my insurance, once I got there they started to try to rip me off by telling me I need a new crown even though my crown was with me and that I need lots and lots of work on this teeth and that with the insurance I need to pay over $1000 so I was strait forward with the Dr and told him you are such a lier and you should be ashamed of ur self. I went home extremely depressed until my wife told me about Dr. Diaa at Smile Design... so I called and spoke to the sweetest lady ever and told her my story. She told me to come next week to see the Doctor, she did not make me wait for weeks like other dentists even though they turn out to be very busy. Met the Dr he looked at my tooth and told me no worries everything looks just fine... he cleaned it put the crown back and I was on my way... that was few weeks ago and I can't be happier. I paid only $150 and left happier than ever... I immediately changed my insurance to be able to accept this Dr and from now in I will not go anywhere but to this doctor... when I called this place and ask them if I could get a cleaning they showed me that I could. I was a new patient so I made an appointment. When I got there as the receptionist, if I'd be able to get a cleaning, she said no today they only do x-rays an exam but they'll reschedule for cleaning at that point. I ask her if I just want a basic cleaning and I don't want all the service I have to offer will they still do a basic cleaning she showed me they would. After they did all the x-rays and the basic exam and they wanted me to have a deep cleaning which was over $500 for both sides of my mouth because I price it left and right I told him no I just wanted to basic cleaning they would not do a basic cleaning not that day or any day if I would not get the deep cleaning. So what that said to me was that they did not care about my teeth or me they only care about money. I will never go there again. I will now refer anybody there. read more

Dr. Basha genuinely cares about the long term care of our teeth and always takes the time to talk to all of us about our concerns. His team is great! I came to Smile Design to take care of dental work that had built up over a decade due to lack of insurance and general fear of dentistry. If you find yourself in a similar situation, Dr. Basha is the man to see! Dr. Basha was wonderful. Not only was I not chastised for being away from a dentist for so long, but the work he did was extremely gentle. I needed my bottom wisdom teeth removed and when I had done the upper ones several years prior the experience was pretty violent. This experience was completely different, very gentle, very careful. I will definitely be going back for the further work I need. Dr. Basha's wife runs the front office. She was great about reviewing the bill with me and reworking things to ensure I got the most out of my insurance. The offices are well updated with recent technology and everyone there was very kind. It's hard to find a good dentist/hygienist team, but I found them here! Although, I live in Alamo, I don't mind driving to Pleasant Hill to my new dentist. The staff is very friendly and Dr Basha is great. Even my super picky husband likes him and his work! read more

I had been going to the same dentist for over 10 years and was sad to need to find a new dentist since moving to the area. For years of 6-month cleanings and check ups I never had a cavity. Suddenly I go to this dentist and have 2. I told them I was a bit surprised that my last dentist never caught this and I would like to wait until the next year so that I could get on a dental insurance plan. I scheduled an appointment 6 months out for another check-up and cleaning. Exactly 5 months and 29 days later I have a message waiting for me on my home voicemail cancelling the appointment with no mention of rescheduling. I thought okay, I'll reschedule only if they call back. Otherwise, I'll wait until I get insurance and see who the insurance company recommends in the area. Needless to say I never got a call back to reschedule. Now that I have insurance the new dentist was happy to report I have no cavities. Dr. Basha may be fine if you already have insurance but after this experience he lost all credibility with me. read more
