I recently moved to the area and was looking for a new dentist, and I'm really glad I found Smile Studios in Upland. From the moment I walked in, everyone was friendly and welcoming, and the office was extremely clean. My dental hygienist, Teresa was fantastic!! She showed me around, gave me a full cleaning, and actually took the time to explain how I could better care for my teeth. She taught me a lot about the benefits of using a soft-bristle toothbrush to help protect my enamel and gums. She also shared her personal routine of using a soft-bristle toothbrush in the morning and an electric toothbrush at night, which was completely new to me and made a lot of sense. Another cool touch is that they have TVs mounted on the ceilings above the dental chairs. I've never seen that before, but it definitely makes lying there with your mouth open for an hour a little more enjoyable. The doctor also seems genuinely invested in new technology and innovation. The office has all kinds of impressive equipment, including in-house 3-D printing machines. It felt more like a modern dental lab than the typical dentist's office with one sad fish tank in the lobby. I will absolutely recommend Smile Studios and will 100% be coming back. read more

I want to start by saying this is going to be a long one but please read to the end. I've been coming to Smile Studio for the last 4 years and let me tell you, they have completely transformed my smile. My first visit was very emotional and I was embarrassed and angry with myself for letting so much time go by without visiting the dentist. I am so grateful for Teresa, my dental hygienist who let me cry on her chair and reassured me I was not alone and it was going to be OK. I started periodontal treatment and saw instant results. I had routine cleanings every 3 months and after about 9 months when my gums were healthy again we had the conversation of braces. Not only are Dr. Ra and all the dental hygienist amazing but so is Dr. Dacker and the ortho team! They always worked around my periodontal cleanings to ensure my treatment was never compromised. It was not always easy to schedule cleanings on ortho days but they would move schedules around and do anything they could to make it happen and I am so thankful for everyone's efforts for the 2 1/2 years I had braces. Smile Studio gave me my confidence back and were always considerate of my time and budget. They offered payment plans for my braces, and worked with my insurance to avoid any financial burden. The ladies at the front desk are always warm and welcoming and the office is beautiful! Definitely one of my best experiences with a dental office. Dentist, staff, and the office itself felt so welcoming the moment I stepped in. Went in for a huge pain I was having in one of my teeth, turns out it was due to a cavity. Had to get a fill and the staff made my appointment as soon as possible. Love the dental practice (everyone is friendly and professional) but hate their billing system. It's impossible to reconcile their receipts against the Explanation of Benefits from the insurance company to see if what I paid is accurate. Even a family member who is an accountant agreed it's impossible to reconcile their "receipts" against the EOB's to see if I paid what I should have. Even after speaking with office billing person, it's still confusing. I don't have this problem with any of my doctors as the charges clearly match the EOB. read more

I was referred here by a family member called a week ago to make an appointment for today. I gave all my insurance information when i booked the appointment LAST MONDAY, and the lady even said if there is any issues she will call me back, otherwise I was to just show up to my appointment. I took the time off work, drove an hour from work to pick up my son and drop him off at home so I could make my appointment only to be called an hour before my appointment time to tell me they don't take my insurance. Not only is this inconsiderate but it's very unprofessional. The lady that called to tell me this was not interested in the least of the complete waste of time not to mention money I missed out on. Super easy to get an appointment. I had to have a spur of the moment surgery to have a tooth removed. Dr. Ra & his assistant made me feel SUPER comfortable and they made the procedure as painless as possible. The insurance aspect of it ran smooth (thanks to Laura & Gloria). My insurance wasn't up and running since I was so new to the plan however smile studio still took me in and helped me. I also had a deep cleaning here and the dental hygienist who worked on me was insanely sweet and gental with everything. Definitely don't recommend, the lady running the office is super unprofessional and rude! (Read some of the other reviews and you will see I'm not the first to experience this) I just called and asked if they accept my insurance and was told yes depending on the type of plan.. I said great and the girl if she could check and see if we are covered and she told me no? She said it's "time consuming" and they only verify insurance for existing patients and people who have made appointments. Maybe I'm missing something here but how can I make an appointment if I don't know if they accept my insurance? Wouldn't that be a waste of my time and yours to make appointments and not even know if we are covered? Obviously had she checked and confirmed that they accept my insurance I would have made appointments for my entire family. In response to the owner: I would have happily provided all the information needed to confirm that my PPO insurance covered care at your office but the receptionist didn't even ask for my information. I was simply told it was too time consuming. I'm glad that your office is so busy you don't have time for new patients, during these times it's a blessing to be so busy. I have a GIANT chip on my shoulder and here's why. The office is beautiful, and my initial visit to pick up paper work THREE days before my visit was great. The reminders leading up to the appointment, awesome, thank you. My grievance with this office is that I left my insurance information TWICE. The day of the appointment, as the two whispered not so quietly, I sat while they looked up my information AGAIN. Both Jaqueline and Gwen have the most condescending attitudes I have ever encountered in a "professional" setting. Long story short, there was a mix up with my insurance that I was not aware of. Gwen was nice enough to let me know, with the not so subtle stank face, that I had a lower tier of insurance, and that I was assigned to a....(gasp) Western Dental. Meanwhile, Jaqueline likes to get the last word in, and thought that it was an appropriate time to tell me 3 different ways that my insurance card was incorrect. Even after I explained myself. Tell me ladies, do you treat your patients with a premier PPO the same? UN. PRO. FESSIONAL. These women are way too comfortable with their positions at this office, the blasé is secreting from your poor attitudes. Sure, you can do your job with your hands tied behind your back and your eyes closed. But it doesn't give you the right to treat potential patients like peasants. read more

Great service! From the front staff to the back staff. I was very satisfied with my experience. Broke my front tooth on my vacation, come Monday they rushed me in so I could get a temporary so I could feel normal again. Called the office and Jacqueline, one of the front office admins, got me an appointment right away. She empathized with me because I was worried about having to go around with a broken front tooth. After a week with a great temporary they got me a permanent crown that I'm very happy with!They color matched it and it turned out great! I changed dental offices in January 2023 which was a bit overwhelming but Smile Studio in Upland made the transition so pleasant and easy for me. I needed quite a bit of dental work and was nervous but the staff made me feel comfortable every step of the way. All of the Dentists are so understanding and make you feel cared for. Mari, the Orthodontics Coordinator has helped me with my ortho journey. Every time I walk in I am greeted by Mari with a smile and I don't feel like a patient I feel like a friend. Absolute CROOKS. They said they took our insurance and ran it twice. I later received a bill.close to 500 dollars. I asked why and they said they don't take our insurance. Absolute scam artists. Told us they took it when they didn't. They now will not give me managers info to resolve this. Do not go here. Office is full of liars and scamers. They just hang up on you to avoid taking responsibility for their actions. DO NOT GO HERE. Office staff is awful lying cheats. I see you responded. I am not the patient.... My children are and I will not post minors names. I specifically asked to speak to a manager and was told you were not in.. yet you can respond. The fact is... Your office took our insurance information on two different occasions. SMILE STUDIO DENTISTRY should have informed us that our insurance is not accepted there... Instead you saw us claiming we had nothing to pay and we were later issued a bill of 166 for one child and 334 for the other. Why would we go somewhere that doesn't take our insurance... That's ludicrous. We were scammed. Your office is responsible for this bill... Not my family and we will pursue smalls claim court if this is not dissolved. I read through past reviews and I am not the first person to deal with a misleading office staff. Someone needs to call me to resolve this asap. read more

Everyone is pleasant. However I'm disappointed how they are not as upfront about prices. I was told a price, then a girl from the front comes again as I'm sitting in the dentists chair, that it was reccomended I get a bone graft and that it would be $400 extra. If they knew I was coming in for a wisdom tooth extraction, I feel like that should have been brought up and discussed prior to the extraction appointment. I would have wanted to know prior and be told about my options. This isn't the only time they have done this to me. I had went in for gum reshaping and I was told a price, then after the procedure one of the front desk girls told me she had given me the wrong price and I was to pay a couple hundred more than said price. It's not a bad place, but from personal experience I will not be coming here anymore. read more

There is no better dentist in the inland empire. We've been coming here for most of our kids lives. We've been to the Fontana location (Sierra dental) and this one located off of mountain. They have the friendliest and most professional staff you will ever meet. You can really tell that Dr. Ra cares for his patients and has provided a facility to ease the fear of going to the dentist. They have a complimentary Starbucks machine, all the latest and greatest technology, flat screen tv monitors for every dental chair and even an arcade. When I went to this dentistry I did not feel like they did that good of a job. They told me I had all this type of work I had to do and that I had a cavity. I could not believe it and their fees are high. I found another dentist and they did a great job and I really felt they did a great job, took their time to answer and they really did a great job on my teeth. Their fees are very low. Update: December 2019 Dr. Ra recommended I get a night guard as most ppl who grind their teeth don't know that they are doing so. Beware of Nathan Pfister and his scam called the "Smile Club," as well as his other high pressure up-sells. I purchased this rip off for $300 and to date they are still refusing services. The smile club is supposed to come with 2 cleanings in one calendar year. They will not give me the 2 cleanings (again, that I already pre-paid for) because they say I need periodontal work (this is a medical scam lying to people) and that i supposedly need to get this done first before I'm "allowed" to get the standard cleanings I already paid for. I got suckered into paying for one quadrant (about $250 to $300 per quadrant depending on their price sheet). So basically I'm the victim of unnecessary surgery (minor surgery, but still). I know they are lying because I have TWO second opinions from two other holistic dentists (both who do ozone and all of the other state-of-the-art stuff) and they say I don't need periodontal work. The reason Pfister pushes for the periodontal cleanings is because he charges you $1,200 to get your whole mouth done. So I would have to pay $1,200 for unnecessary surgery in order to get the standard cleanings that I already paid for. So it's basically a bait and switch program: a very, very hard and intimidating up-sell. Funny thing is, if Pfister and his staff would've been honest with me instead of trying to squeeze out $1200 worth of unnecessary surgery out of me, they would've had a happy paying patient. I currently pay my other ozone dentists hundreds (probably over a thousand now) to take care of my teeth. They are honest and much better holistic dentists. Oh, and by the way Nathan, before you reply to this, just remember one thing: HIPPA. I don't give you permission to talk about me or my case because you've treated me with a lot of disrespect. read more

Dr. Pfister is an amazing dentist. He's very gentle, respectful, and very knowledgeable on most facets of dentistry. His staff is amazing too, they're always so nice to me and my children. I really feel amongst friends when there. Now to his dentistry: I've amazed at how much this guy knows. He's an expert in ozone therapy and minimally invasive dentistry and preventative which basically means that if you want the best chance to have the least amount of dentistry done, you need to see him. And if you so happen to need dental work, he does it all. Same day crowns, implants, digital X-rays, ozone therapy, air-abrasion (high tech sandblaster) which minimizes or eliminates shots, nice! He seems to have all the high tech stuff I've seen in tv and the Internet. I think he does stuff like sleep apnea too, excellent. My kid loves coming here, he can't wait for his xylitol (non cavity forming!) lollipop after his work is done. How many kids like their dentist?!?! If you need a great dentist you have to call him. BTW, I'm a dentist and he's the one I see, that should tell you how good he is. read more
