Dr. Mand and his hygienist Yvonne were absolute angels when it came to my 91 year old grandmother's care. This office was recommended by my mother in law and my family couldn't be happier with the care our grandma received. They took her insurance which was Medi-Cal and provided her some top care. I'm glad we came and now she can get the treatment she deserves. Yvonne speaks Spanish and this helped make my grandma feel so much relief that someone who is working in her mouth can truly explain to her in detail what will happen. read more

Worst experience ever! I came in for appointment because I was in so much pain. They forced me to do 18 x rays that I didn't even want. I can't even believe o had to do 19 x rays. I have never had a dentist appointment where I had to do 18 x rays. I just wanted one tooth looked at. The x rays were horribly painful. Then they tell me I have to pay out of pocket. They did not let me know this in advance. I never even saw the doctor and after what I've experienced I would never come back. Now I'm still in pain and forced to go somewhere else. Waste of my time, energy and money. Save yourself the visit and go somewhere a little more professional and put together. read more

I had my second visit to Upland Laser Dental and it might've been better than my first. Dr. Mand and the staff are incredible, and they really care for you from start to finish. I went in for my biannual visit, and also did the whitening special. Both are extremely well-priced, especially for SoCal. Dr. Mand was helpful and informative during my check-in and cleaning, and Yvonne was a champ during my one-hour whitening session. I went here due to a referral. I found it inconvenient that they are not opened Fridays or the weekend, but I was able to get time off work. For my return visit to receive my device there was a "power outage" that happened the day of. I rescheduled as soon as I could get more time off only to find out they had ANOTHER power outage. I am having trouble sleeping due to the lack of the equipment and am regretting not looking into their office hours before agreeing to the referral. One power outage I get but TWO that seems like you need better communication with your power company or something. read more

All I can say I nice things especially after this place stayed up to date with my insurance to offer me super affordable care as my insurance changed from my initial visit I was due to pay 1K then I went to another dentist who confirmed I needed the treatment that upland said! The other place was at $1300 upland at 1K for same exact treatment! I waited about 2-3 months and the lady who has little mermaid tattoo an red hair stayed in touch with me over the months and notified me once my insurance decided to pay more now I am due to pay $650 for a lot of treatment if you ask me! I was very impressed with Dr Nguyen and his approach to dentistry when I first came to his office. I was also impressed with how he was keeping up with the latest technology in providing dental care - the laser tools were really impressive to me. Unfortunately, it seemed that with those new tools, came a need to use them on every visit and prescribe needs (laser gum treatment) whether you needed them or not. My wife and I were both diagnosed with a need to do laser gum treatments. My wife had that done. I deferred because I was not convinced. We both had cleanings every six months and it seems strange to me that the gum treatment option was required. The turning point for me with the Dr's office was when I went for a cleaning and a filling, they told me they could only do the filling... not the cleaning because I needed the laser gum treatment and my insurance would not pay for a cleaning until I had the laser gum treatment! I challenged that statement... took off the bib and walked out to never return!! Total lies!! 5 Years on, with a new dentist, I have not had any diagnosis or a gum disease problem.... nor did I need the cavity filled that Dr Nguyen said I had. Be aware when you are told you need over and above treatments based on your regular cleaning and check up visits. This office cannot be trusted in my experience read more

Couldn't ask for a better dental office! Friendly staff, efficient service and a relaxing view while getting your dental work done! I was really impressed that they were able to do my cleanings and 2 cavity fillings at my first visit. Most places would make you come back several times. The laser used to do my filings was painless and there wasn't even any numbing needed! I would HIGHLY recommend this office, especially if you have had a bad experience at the dentist in the past. Dr. Nguyen is an amazing dentist, but his office staff is the worst. When I first came here over 10 years ago, the office staff was great; communicative and helpful, never any surprise bills and definitely didn't try to sell you anything. Now, it's completely the opposite. They have mismanaged appointments several times. Twice I have made appointments for my kids and me on the same day and time, but somehow they had no record of my kids' appointment and had to reschedule them. Twice! Do not go here!!! This is a up sale Dentist Office! I went to have a cleaning and I ended up getting my tooth extracted and was charged for services that were not explained to me!! I can't even tell you the Dentist name that pulled my tooth because he never introduced himself to me!! Oh, and by the way I didn't get my teeth cleaned because of the un planned extraction!! Also be aware that they don't have regular/normal business hours!! I called them on a Thursday at 2:15pm and I got their answering service. The operator told me they closed at 3:00 and wouldn't return until Monday, I said, "It's not 3:00 it's only 2:15!!! She told me she would give them the message to call me before they leave at 3:00. Today is Monday and it's 12:15pm, I haven't received a call back so I called the office and asked if they got my message from Thursday and the receptionist said, "No not yet!!! I think it's unprofessional that they didn't check for their messages after being closed for 4 days!! I I'm filing a Grievance for charging me for services that were not explained to me!! Awesome dentist!!!! Dr. Nguyen is the best!!! Virtually painless shots, great work and he is so informative. After wondering why my molars were in such terrible shape, even though I brush and floss, Dr Nguyen told me that sleep apnea can cause stomach acid to make its way up to your esophagus and into the oral cavity where it can ruin your teeth!!! I had no idea. I also recently took my 5 year old to see Dr Nguyen as well, and he was so sweet with him. Explaining all the tools he would be using, and even demonstrating. After visiting Dr. Nguyen a couple more times, I feel comfortable saying that he is a great dentist! So accommodating and very friendly and comforting for dentist-fearing patients. I did a deep cleaning and I was just expecting to be staring at their faces the whole time, but they had this SUPER cool device that lets you watch a movie through these special goggles while they clean your chompers. I watched Book of El (they had a number of different movies.. kids movies, kid tv shows.. and Sex and The City LMAO. Crap.) They finished all the procedures within 45-60 minutes. I almost asked them to just let me finish the movie. Who wants to go to back to work when I could be watching Denzel chopping peoples heads off?! Anyway, the deep cleaning was great, my mouth felt like a sterile operating table. Also, Dr. Nguyen gave me a LIFE CHANGING (simple) procedure. I've always had these white spots on my front teeth, ever since I've had teeth. He said the spots were calcium build up, something you're just born with (well, when teeth grow out). The very first visit, he gave me that MI Paste to try to get rid of the spots. It didn't work. Since then, this new technology came out where the dentist just wipes this liquid on (it smelled like super glue.. I hope it wasn't) with this little brush, (tinier than nail polish brush) and lets it dry for 15 minutes. He was able to get rid of them. Don't ask me what it was.. but it worked. After living my whole life with embarrassing spots on my front teeth.. they were GONE. I almost cried tears of joy when I looked in the mirror. Dr. Nguyen is so BUMPS. Update: Been asked about what the procedure was called. I called my dentist and confirmed it's called Icon Filling Material. It's a type of filling, no drilling, nothing too complicated. It's a simple wipe on and wait to dry thing. It somehow penetrates deep inside the teeth, correcting the color. No bumps or weird texture on my teeth after. Btw, I did this procedure about 6 months ago. Still working great. read more

Dr. Dat Nguyen....What a fantastic dentist! My daughter had an excruciatingly painful gum condition called pericoronitis on her back molar. After seeing our regular Pediatric dentist she told us we should see Dr. Dat Nguyen to get this taken care of with his laser vs traditional scalpel surgery for quicker healing and reduced pain. To make a long story short, my daughter needed to have a good portion of her gum removed because it was obstructing the molar from fully erupting properly. Ouch! I called his office and his staff was amazing! They initially offered me appts the following day, then asked me if she was in a lot of pain. When I said yes, they immediately asked the dentist if he could squeeze her in the same day because they didn't want her to suffer any longer. So we got in within 2 hours. They were fast and thorough in verifying my insurance coverage. I asked them to make certain it would be covered before we started any procedures. We arrived and the front desk staff was wonderful. They sat down and showed me the complete itemized breakdown of what costs would be so there were no surprises. I appreciated that immensely. There was virtually no wait and the dentist was so calm and gentle and very good about explaining what was going to happen, to reassure my daughter before doing anything. (Initially she was terrified). Dr. Nguyen used a laser (Biolase) to remove the gum tissue as well as fix a cavity on the same molar that was covered by the gum tissue. All without any need novacaine! I couldn't believe it! My daughter said it felt "weird" but didn't hurt. Why did I not know about this laser and this dentist before? There was no downtime and recovery was quick and easy. No pain pills needed. That evening I got a call and text from Dr. Nguyen checking in to see how my daughter was recovering. Amazing skills and great bedside manner! My husband and I will be switching to Dr. Nguyen after this great experience. Thank you to his entire office for taking such great care of my daughter! read more

No Pain! After several months of reading reviews on Yelp and other sites for Upland Laser I finally worked up the courage to make my appointment. I suffer from high levels of dental anxiety. But I read that this office uses lasers for many of its procedures and people have said that laser treatment is painless. When I arrived it was clear that all COVID19 guidelines were being followed and I felt safe. The front office staff is very friendly and efficient. The assistants are very kind, friendly, gentle and knowledgeable. The office uses the latest in X-ray technology which makes the process comfortable and quick. Dr. Nguyen is very kind and listens to your concerns. He took my anxiety seriously and was very aware of my comfort level during the entire visit. He reviewed my X-rays with me and went over in detail the treatment plan. I decided to get my cavities taken care of right there and then, that's how comfortable I was there. Dr. Nguyen used the laser to "zap" away my cavities and filled them with white fillings. He also used the laser to remove a very old silver filling and replace it with white filling. Here's how it works... He places a soft plastic device in your mouth that you bite down on and this device is flushing water through your mouth. This works in conjunction with the laser. It is not uncomfortable or painful. Then he proceeds with the laser. You feel a tapping sensation and you hear a sound that's like a quick tapping or "laser" sound. But you feel NO PAIN! Before I knew it he had filled several cavities on one side of my mouth and was setting up for the other side. It was so amazing to me that it was so painless and quick! I kept waiting to feel some pain but it never came. Next up was the deep cleaning which I never had done before. Dr. Nguyen brushed some numbing gel onto my gums and he used a tool to clean between my teeth and under the gum line. Overall it wasn't painful but I'm very sensitive to the sound the tools make and the feel of the metal in my mouth. It sounded like a drill but didn't feel like a drill, it's something pointy that vibrates. I felt a little shot of pain maybe three times (similar to poking your gums with a toothpick) during this procedure but I would raise my hand and he would quickly acknowledge my comfort level and adjust his technique. All in all not bad at all for my first ever deep cleaning. Honestly it went better than I had ever expected. I'm looking forward to a great relationship with my dentist and my teeth for years and years to come. If you're very anxious about the dentist like I was do yourself a favor and make your appointment with upland laser. In all seriousness It took me years to work up the courage and I'm glad I finally did it. I feel good about the decision I made and I'm very proud of myself. Side note... laser dentistry is much more costly but for me it was definitely worth the price not to feel any pain and look forward to coming back with no anxiety.
