I downloaded the free trial hoping to use it for my work email for special occasions and employee recognition. Unfortunately, due to the email provider my company has I couldn't really use Smilebox like I intended even though I do really, really like the product. I planned to cancel my membership but got a little distracted by the holidays. So, I was billed for a year membership after the free trial because that's what I chose to default to. Before emailing the company I read up on their return policy which didn't leave me feeling very hopeful as far as getting my money back but I was wrong! Their customer service team is quick, effective, polite and they gave me my refund no problem! If I could have used the product as I wanted for my company, I would have, it's a great program. Overall, very impressed with their customer service and the program itself. read more

As with many other reviews, we were cheated out of money on this product. Although it does what it says it will, I would encourage you to use one of the many other online applications that do the same thing so you can avoid being cheated by smilebox. In our case, we signed up for the monthly subscription, but after the 7 day trial they billed is for the annual subscription. They don't offer refunds and are less than helpful when it comes to customer support. read more

I've been trying for over a week to cancel my subscription by email. There's no phone number listed, so I'm going over the same story endlessly with no one resolving the issue. The program works fine as long as you have Chrome; FireFox makes it crash. The FireFox crashing issue isn't listed in their troubleshooting instructions. Avoid giving them any cc information, because it's a nightmare cancelling. read more

could be easier to use. Don't like having to sign up for a year, would love to see a per use charge instead. Nice assortment of designs, but some are hard to edit. Had trouble importing email of the contacts I wanted to send the invitations to. Will see what my guests think of this once they start responding. Today was my first time using it. Awesome and easy to use, but don't sign up if you don't understand that a 7 day free trial means just that. If your to stupid to cancel before the 7 days are up because you really just wanted something for free don't blame this company or any other that offers a free trial period. read more

I've owned smilebox , free version for years now, and even though their free options are becoming limited I still am able to share moments and make memorable e cards that fill the hearts of the receiver. You think you are signing up for $5 a month and then see the credit card charge for the whole year. NO phone number to call. NO responses to emails. I am furious. This is disgusting. We made our wedding, shower, party invitations and thank you cards with Smilebox. We also created fun slide show for family and friends. It is really easy to use. We love it! I guess it is not the best website you can find out there to create fun presentations as it could definitely get some improve in the interface and options but it is definitely fast and easy to create a card, slideshow or video. This is nothing mote than an online scheme to bill one's credit account biweekly. Do NOT give them your credit card number! They will tell you their service is "free" and then say they need the number for a one month trial billing. Then they just keep billing you whether or not you use the service. Of course their policy is not to refund any of the money they take from you. Consumer beware! read more

Smilebox is really a great product. The yearly subscription price is very reasonable for the product that you are able to produce. Cards...albums...invitations are easily produced with your own pictures and you are able to share them immediately after creating them. The trial period is tricky...but you just need to watch your dates...you can't hold Smilebox liable if you don't REALLY want to subscribe and just use their product. If you don't cancel, then you're charged...that's just the way it is when doing business online. But I really enjoy making my cards and albums and sharing them...I've received nothing but GREAT comments!!! read more

Holy Cow is Smilebox horrible. I'm not one to leave a horrible review unless the product/company truly deserves the rating. This is a waste of money. After the trial period they charge you like $100 for this program. Not only does this program throttle at roughly 115 photos but you can't preview the project shows a white background), I literally spent about 6 hours on one slideshow trying to figure out the sweet spot. It appears you can only upload a certain length slideshow as well. The song library is a joke. The songs are literally on a 10 second loop, this is facts (who approves that). I'm a full time photographer and I have never had an issue like this before. I honestly wouldn't recommend these guys to anyone. Don't take my word for it. Try it! I eagerly await your review :) Oh, and customer service? They have a help/message tab at the bottom. Still haven't heard anything back. read more

Although I have only used the program a few times and have liked the projects I have made, I am now getting notifications on my phone that it will slow down my phone and needs to be updated. While the app still exists, the Apple App Store shows the last update was June 2014. read more

!!!AT THE END, THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO SMILE ARE THEM!!! Smilebox offers nice designs, however, their business model is deceptive and predatory. They lure you with free trial and then low monthly fee of $3.99 or so. I would not mind paying a one month fee after sending a couple of e-cards, but they charged me annual fee of $48 right away!!! Pictures can only be uploaded one at a time. Program bogs down at around 100 photos. Couldn't quickly sort chronologically once photos on slides. I found it easier to just start over with a new template and made sure I was careful to paste on to slides in approximately the correct order. Preview won't load, then it takes an hour for the program to "finalize" the rendering which needs small edits, requiring another hour to "finalize". Very frustrating and slow process. read more

Although the program itself is OK and easy to use, it will attempt to update itself after a couple of months and will encounter a problem, unless you happen to have a very old IE operating system. Once this happens, the program will never open again! The support desk is apparently in India, so you'll never speak to a live person. You will spend weeks emailing back and forth and they have no idea how to resolve the issue. They actually sent me instructions multiple times for operating systems I don't use. They will then tell you that you are not entitled to any type of refund for the product past the initial 7-day sign up period, but they will "resolve your issue" by not charging you for a second year, even though you only used the product for a couple of months to begin with. I highly suggest you save yourself the trouble and just buy a different program to begin with. read more

What a TOTAL SCAM. Be warned don't give Smilebox your credit card, no wonder they are called smile-box, it's the gift that keeps on giving. Big mistake, signed up for free 7 day trial, had to give credit card, downloaded program, found it way beyond my requirements or capabilities and deleted and cancelled it in the initial day. Then couple of months later my credit card was charged for the annual subscription. I contacted Smilbox, had no joy, called my bank and had the charge reversed as a fraudulent transaction. That was over a year ago. Just checked my credit card statement, sure enough new charge for another annual renewal of Smilbox a year down the track. Scandalous, never opened their site or had any dealings with them in well over a year. And now they are back, so how long will this scam go on for??????? read more

I "tried" smilebox for my daughter's yearbook collage LAST YEAR, 2015!. I attempted multiple times to send the collage and it would not download nor forward to the school-there is an issue with smilebox's formatting. I immediately complained to smilebox and received only "thank you for joining smilebox" generic emails. Smilebox also sold my email to a MULTITUDE of spam. They NEVER responded, NEVER refunded my money and NEVER fixed the issue. The ONLY reason I tried it was to send my daughter's yearbook collage-the surprise page for my daughter was ruined! What a terrible company! ALSO this company is overseas, so it is VERY difficult to reach a LIVE human and when I did, I was promised "they would look into the issue" but NEVER did. I am STILL waiting for my refund-from LAST MAY. read more

This app says that it's free, but it's not. You can design and share on Facebook for free, but you can't print your designs without signing up for the free trial which requires a credit card. read more

This cowardly company deserves a 0 score! I am in total agreement with the other posts as I have had the same negative experience. This company hides behind the computer and wants nothing to do with providing any kind of personal customer service, yet they have absolutely no trouble taking your money! Terrible customer service! They are very sneaky and randomly charged me $47.88 for a year subscription when all I did was sign up to be billed the $3.99 rate. Your CC will be automatically charged after a short trial. Been charged for the past several years even though my card is no longer active and there's no customer service number to call on their site. I didn't even bother calling the number provided by my CC company since most reviews mentioned it's a waste of time to even reason with this them! read more

Great app. Just wish you could update your design if you make a boo boo. You have to recreate everything from scratch just to fix a typo.

I read some of the other reviews that said it was a waste of time. I do NOT agree. Yes it's almost $50 a year. I think for the graphics and the lay-outs that they offer it's worth the $3.99 a month. Other people use and appreciate the service provided as to high quality and ease of use. I cannot comment on the quality of the service this company provides I can only express my frustration in trying to get in touch with them so that I could cancel my subscription. Somehow I subscribed to this service and I do not use it. I don't have time to figure out if it is something I would like to use. I do not want to continue to pay for something I am not currently getting any benefit from. I don't know if anyone else shares my frustration or hkknows how to contact them. Absolute worst software I have ever had the experience of working with. At first I chose Smilebox because it seemed easy enough to use... after I spent 3 hours uploading close to 200 photos it would randomly switch my photos around and duplicate then out of no where. Spent additional time fixing this. Then when I went to upload music to my slideshow I had to buy a membership to upload my own songs (they claim to have tons to choose from on their "free trial version" No, it's like 200 weird songs I have never heard of or VERY dated). I finally was able to upload my songs and then when I went to preview it defaulted to THEIR music! I ended up having to do the entire slideshow over to fix the glitch. I finally got my music to play and realized they cut you off at 3 songs... I had 170 photos so then after the 3rd song it just goes back to the 1st song. No option for a 4th at all. In the end, the glitches were never fixed (after I contacted customer service with no response until it was too late) and I ended up having to apologize to my audience that there were random photos that would just appear where they were not supposed to. If you'd like ANY sort of easy with a photo slide show do NOT choose Smilebox. read more
