Absolute worst software I have ever had the experience of working with. At first I chose Smilebox because it seemed easy enough to use... after I spent 3 hours uploading close to 200 photos it would randomly switch my photos around and duplicate then out of no where. Spent additional time fixing this. Then when I went to upload music to my slideshow I had to buy a membership to upload my own songs (they claim to have tons to choose from on their "free trial version" No, it's like 200 weird songs I have never heard of or VERY dated). I finally was able to upload my songs and then when I went to preview it defaulted to THEIR music! I ended up having to do the entire slideshow over to fix the glitch. I finally got my music to play and realized they cut you off at 3 songs... I had 170 photos so then after the 3rd song it just goes back to the 1st song. No option for a 4th at all. In the end, the glitches were never fixed (after I contacted customer service with no response until it was too late) and I ended up having to apologize to my audience that there were random photos that would just appear where they were not supposed to. If you'd like ANY sort of easy with a photo slide show do NOT choose Smilebox. read more

I have been a happy customer since March 2009 sending photos to family member near & far. Then after Christmas 2016 I tried to make one & Smilebox would not load. I contacted smilebox by E-mail & received a form response having nothing to do with my problem, I tried calling them but the number was not a working number & still to this day June 12, 2017 is not a working number. They have NO customer service! I finally got it to load after Best Buy geeks tried with no success then a private computer geek tried & even took my computer home with him for several days. He finally got it to load after 3 days of trying different stuff. This cost me $75 out of pocket. Anyway, I tried to make another Smilebox recently after a family wedding & a college graduation on once again it would not load. So I sent an E-mail again, they responded with E-mail that had nothing to do with my problem so I knew it was form response & nobody had even bothered to read my E-mail. I cannot & will not go through all of that again, I am through with Smilebox but I want to be able to download my creations from the past 8 years to keep them permanently before canceling my membership in March 2018. But I can't get into program to do that. At Smilebox.com I can go into my account & see all of my creations but they will not allow me to copy or resend. I was wrongly billed an annual amount when I wanted the monthly membership. You receive NO warning that they auto-enroll you in an annual membership and no courtesy emails that your trial membership is about to expire. I emailed customer support the day a payment was PENDING on my banking account. I simply wanted a refund for the annual charge and the appropriate monthly charge of $6.99 on my account. I have not heard anything in over a week and am highly unsatisfied. It is a very sketchy operation with no customer service phone number and continuous loops/redirects when trying to find someone to contact. The lack of availability of customer service and the failure for a prompt response has lead me to cancel my membership. read more

I attempted to use the Smilebox website on March 29, 2017, however, I my computer was infected with a major virus causing extreme damages to my computer. I asked for a refund on March 30, 2017 and received no response from this company. I purchased the Club Smilebox option. I uploaded 120+ images and chose two songs. In preview mode, there are numerous glitches, which took hours for me to fix. Then the preview would not play my uploaded songs. I notified the company of the problem and they indicated that they are aware of the problems and are working on fixing these in a future update. That doesn't really help me, and so I have requested my money back. So far, they have not confirmed they will issue a refund. read more

Sent an email and left an email that there was charge not authorized on our credit card and we would be disputing it. Have left multiple (more than 5) requests for someone to call us to discuss. They ONLY reply was by email and want my personal information - which I am willing to give over the phone. Have again asked someone to call my back.... Message on support voice mail says messages not checked daily..what kind of business will not call you back and does not check messages daily? This company may have great templates - but if you have any issues they are horrible. read more

The program is complicated! I also signed up for the 7 day free trial and then it was suppose to be a monthly fee after that. Super easy to create invitations, slide shows, etc --- makes sharing pictures extra fun.

I've used this for just about a year and I certainly think it has paid for itself. In reading some of the other reviews I would hope they'd clean up that part of their act otherwise they will be going down in flames. The person with a bad experience tells 10 others; good experiences don't work the same way. I started out by sending New Year party invitations; they have a good system for keeping track of guests, etc. I've also used it for birthdays and special occasions sending along pictures, etc. Tom W. read more

I had all but given up on sending a card this year, just couldn't get it together in time, but then I received a Smilebox slideshow from a friend and was inpired to try it myself. I wish I had read the reviews here before ever downloading the supposedly "free" software. I decided to take the trial period to test it out and then, if I liked it, I'd pay the monthly fee (I think it's $6.99/mo). I am presently unemployed and would never have agree to a full year's payment all at once. However, within one week, a charge of $51.23 appeared on my credit card statement. Smilebox never sent me (a) any confirmation of my order--most reputable companies send one outlining "free trial X length of time, thereafter X amount per month/year, etc." and (b) no advance notice that the trial period was ending and they'd be charging me--again, most reputable companies do this, it's simply good customer care. Upon seeing the charge I immediately submitted a support request asking for clarification as to the timing and the amount, and requesting a refund. No response other than the automated reply. It is more than a week; still no response. Smilebox is a cute, fun program--a couple of small glitches but overall I liked it--but they completely turned me off by these deceptive practices and lack of customer support. They have not only lost me as a customer but also the many other people I am warning. read more

The thing I love most about Smilebox is that it is super easy to use. So far I've made a Father's day, birthday and a Save the Date, I even have plans to use this for my classroom. I can easily make one for each student. Then it becomes part of the student portfolio and a parent gift. The price is really affordable, at $48 a year or $3.99 a month. Smilebox may seem like an attractive option to send elaborate cards to loved ones, particularly during a pandemic. However, their site is misleading, as they emphasize only their monthly rate, which makes it seem like you can pay for only a month to try it. I figured I would be able to confirm this during the purchasing process, but no. Instead of a final "here's what you're buying screen" to confirm, all-of-a-sudden they had charged my card for a full year. They refuse to refund money and take several days to respond to support inquiries. They simply offer extensions of their service to try to passify irate customers, which are next to worthless, since we don't want the service anyway. This is not a great company and will likely not be around long. Even if the service you get is OK - which I'm not certain that it is - you should know that you're paying for an entire year of a service you can't even test out. I would not recommend them at all. read more

I loathe smilebox- they should not be able to continue to STEAL people's money for their useless services. I am a simpleton because TWICE, I have been victimized by this company. Both times were immediately after the loss of a parent. The first time after I lost my mom, my daughter was graduating h.s. I was to have a grad celebration and I was so late to send invites I jumped into their free trail. Nothing they had worked for me and I moved on. Stressed out trying to get the invites out, having a party, losing my mother, etc, I forgot to cancel the free trail, and they charged my acct. I called and explained what happened and they flat out refused to give me refund or credit/ I could not believe it! Never again I swore Five years later and my dad passes away, two days until his memorial service and I have to send celebration of life invitations. Again I tried every template they offered and not one worked the way I needed it to with the attachments and photos I had. I never made an invite, never sent one thing from their site, Did not use one piece or part of anything they offered for any purpose. Again, I move one, find another way to create and send invites, stressed out, having a service, just lost my father, forgot to cancel the free trail. Again they refuse to credit my bank account, their charge over drafted my acct. I only had about $10.00 and they charged me 48.00 for services that I NEVER USED!! I cannot believe how merciless and corrupt this company is!! I cannot quantify what this company has really taken from me, and during the darkest days of my life. I really like the options Smilebox provides. I have been a member for 4 years and I see improvements and more selections each year. I also like the choices to have only one photo or none or up to many. Depending on who you send the cards to, this is a great feature to be able to choose what is appropriate for each person. Their designs are great and the new option to select different phases is nice. However, I do like creating my own at times. It's a great product! read more
