I recently had a gum infection that was painful and it left me feeling very anxious about having a cleaning just a week later. I am not one who routinely feels anxious about dental care, but I was really feeling terrified. After an appointment with Dr Guan, who is always very patient and informative, it was time for a deep ultrasonic cleaning after missing the last two years of routine cleanings. I was almost in tears, but right away, Wendy put me at ease and promised that my pain was her pain and she would make sure we both made it out pain free. She called Dr Guan back to inject some local numbing medicine, which isn't the most fun, but it did the trick and throughout the cleaning, scaling and lasering, Wendy watched my body language closely and kept checking in to make sure I was okay and not just touching it out. She was as comforting as a mama, without ever making me feel bothersome or "extra" about being nervous. She was also super meticulous about getting every bit of calcified plaque off my teeth. I really appreciate how thorough and gentle she was. So much so, that I gave her a big hug after and thanked her profusely. I have had braces, an implant, a crown and a below gumline root canal here and I have always been kept informed about costs, options, and preventative maintenance. I love my dental team and I am so beyond happy to recommend Wendy. She is awesome!

I'm sharing this because I would want to know about an experience like this before choosing a dental provider. Earlier this year, I had a crown done by Dr. Multani, and it was by far the worst dental experience I've ever had. I've had several crowns done over the years, so I'm familiar with the procedure, but I had never experienced anything like this. The procedure itself was extremely uncomfortable and painful. I felt like my gums and surrounding teeth were repeatedly being knocked and poked during the procedure, and my face and mouth were swollen for several days afterward. That had never happened to me after a crown before. What made the experience even more frustrating was that Dr. Multani appeared to be extremely overbooked. She repeatedly had to stop working on me to move between other patients, and this happened numerous times throughout the appointment. It made an already stressful procedure even more difficult. My bite was off after the crown was placed, so I let her know and she made several adjustments, but it still didn't feel right. She suggested waiting until the next day to see how it felt and said I could come back if it still needed to be adjusted. I returned the following day, and unfortunately, the same situation happened again. She was working on multiple patients and I repeatedly had to wait for her to come back to me. After several more attempts to adjust my bite, it still wasn't right. At that point, I was concerned that continuing to grind the crown down would compromise it, so I decided to leave. Every time I tried to chew on that side, I experienced significant pain. Essentially, I couldn't use that side of my mouth to chew. The office offered to fix it, but after what I had already experienced, I did not feel comfortable having the same dentist continue working on the crown. The following week, we ended up paying another dentist (who I am very thankful for and who is now my current dentist); to fix the problem. That meant I essentially had to go through the crown procedure on the same tooth twice in less than a month and pay for the procedure twice. What made the situation even more frustrating was the lack of response afterward. We had paid Cedar Park Modern Dentistry in full before the original procedure. Once it became clear that the crown had not been completed properly and had to be redone, we began contacting the office about disputing the charge and even had our new dentist write a letter explaining the issue(s) identified when she examined my tooth. This was over 6 months ago, and despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue through calling and leaving repeated voicemails we never received a response. Now, I'm still receiving bills from them this week (note they never returned the $1000.00 we paid them for what amounted to nothing). Unfortunately, the entire experience--from the procedure itself, to the repeated bite adjustments, to having to pay another dentist to correct the work as an emergency, and finally the lack of communication afterward--has been extremely disappointing. Based on my experience, I would not return to this office and would not recommend it to others.

Arrived for treatment and waited almost 2 1/2 hours so we asked to be rescheduled. Was told we would be called next or "it will be a long time before we have an opening again". Opted to reschedule as I was not waiting again. Rescheduled visit was ok but when crown came in and that appointment was scheduled I was told our appointment was scheduled with the wrong doctor so it had to be canceled and rescheduled with the correct doctor but that couldn't happen until after school starts. The whole purpose in dealing with this in the summer is to avoid missing school. I don't know if this is a management issue or a training issue but it is unacceptable. We were planning on using this practice for orthodontic treatment but I'm not wanting to deal with repeated scheduling issues for long term treatment when we've had these issues to start care.

This is when I decided I wouldn't be returning. I want to leave the dentist with a clean mouth, not just half a clean mouth! The deep cleaning was stupid expensive because they failed to tell me they were out of network with my insurance, had I known that I wouldn't have even gone. Run, don't walk, away from this place unless you like going to a dentists office where the staff isn't ready to work, is ready to over bill you, and is you like professionals taking to you in a really condescending tone. I've lived in Dallas, Austin, and Houston, I usually go every 6 months and in general LOVE the dentist. This is by far, the worst, practice I've ever been to. They run this place like it's a popsicle stand as opposed to operating it like a professional establishment.

I'm the one who signed every paper. I'm the one who paid the $5,000. For him to dismiss me like that is not just offensive -- it's delusional. And again -- her teeth are STILL not fixed. When I asked him what we even paid for -- including the extra $145 he randomly added -- he couldn't give an answer. So what did he do? He walked out. Again. This place is a joke. I was told by Carus staff to print out my own patient information forms & was given an appt time for the next day. This office wanted to bill me for my visit. Carus was paid by the VA for my teeth cleaning. There should be records in their system on this but no one at this business wants to confirm anything. Due to the way business is conducted here there may be a double billing issue with your account. I'm not surprised that other veterans experienced poor customer care with this business.

Parking: big free lot outside. Always a plus! First impression: visually, the office is very outdated and old-looking. I was initially taken aback when I arrived, because I have never been to an office that looked like this before. I had pretty low expectations because of this. The chairs in the waiting room are ripped up on the bottoms, so the material is sagging down to the floor. Decor is minimal inside, and it is stuffy and has no natural light. Same for the exam rooms in the back. The technology (exam chair, moveable lights, etc) look like they are all older than me! Dentist: I was seen by Dr. Stanley Lin, D.D.S. Right from the beginning, he was extremely polite and personable. He easily built great rapport and was thorough with my exam and cleaning. I felt immediately at ease and the appointment went by quickly. I highly recommend seeing Dr. Lin, just know that the office is not the most visually appealing one!

Thirty days ago, I scheduled new patient appointments online for both my spouse and myself. I received an email confirmation at the time of booking, followed by an automated reminder shortly before the appointment date. When I arrived--on time--for the first of the two appointments, I was informed that I was not on the schedule at all. The receptionist initially asked whether I might be at the wrong location. I showed her the confirmation email from their own online booking system, at which point she acknowledged that their online scheduling system does not work. This is not disclosed anywhere on their website, and the system presents itself as fully functional: accepting appointments, sending confirmations, and issuing reminders, creating a reasonable expectation that the appointment has been properly recorded. While the receptionist was courteous and apologetic and did reschedule me, a more serious concern arose during intake. When intake questions began, I asked whether the forms I had already completed online, including extensive personal, insurance, and medical history information, were available in my chart. I was told no, because the website does not track or transmit that information to the office. At that point, I had to stop the process. The intake forms required the upload of significant amounts of personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI): data that is protected under both federal and Texas law. The staff could not tell me: where that information is stored, whether it was transmitted securely, who has access to it, or whether it is retained, audited, or properly safeguarded at all. Given these uncertainties, I formally requested that a manager and/or the organization's privacy officer contact me. When an organization invites patients to submit legally protected data through its systems, it has a legal obligation to know where that data resides and how it is protected. Failing to do so raises serious concerns about privacy compliance and patient trust. This review reflects concern, not hostility, and I am hoping the organization takes this feedback seriously, addresses the operational and privacy gaps, and demonstrates compliance with applicable law so this review can be updated accordingly.
