This is a great local option right in Burke for a nice sit down breakfast without the wait. I am glad to see new ownership in place. On a recent Saturday morning my running group met at the new and improved Smith and Clarkson's for breakfast. We were a group of 20 and they did an amazing job. The food was delicious and came out quickly, especially considering the size of our group. The prices are also very reasonable. I don't think you could find such a hearty breakfast anywhere else in the area for such a reasonable price. I look forward to eating breakfast here again and hope to try lunch sometime soon! Was looking for a breakfast place and this didn't disappoint. I thought it was table service, so the fast-casual nature threw me off when I entered. I wasn't upset about it though. My spinach omelet was great. It came with home fries and toast. Next time I'll ask them to throw some onions and peppers in with the potatoes. They needed a bit of a kick. My friend had a larger breakfast of eggs, bacon, home fries, toast and a waffle. She loved it all. The guys in the table next to us ate sandwiches and they looked and said there were yummy. (Yes, I'm that person who looks at what other people are eating and their reaction. Lol) I'll be back to try their other menu items. Really want to try their Korean spicy wings. Great place! Just got back from Florida for the holiday and was looking for some take out. Ordered a Reuben and chicken & waffles. Both items were delicious. The Reuben was nicely done, lean corned beef, grilled just right. Initially I was a little concerned that only three tenders came with the waffles, but pleasantly surprised by how generous the order was. The chicken tenders were lightly battered, seasoned nicely, juicy, and served with with a fresh cooked waffle. Looking forward to trying other items before leaving. read more

I had the bulgogi wrap which seems like a non-typical entree for a place like this; it was delicious though. I've been back 2 times since. I had the chicken tenders with the spicy Korean sauce and the soy garlic sauce on the side. These were excellent and extremely fresh. The 3rd visit I had the spicy chicken sandwich which was a new item. They use a bread and butter pickle and a ranch sauce on it. The combination with the freshly fried chicken is amazing. My wife also had the chocolate chip pancakes and they were great! Everything here is freshly prepared. The fried chicken is some of the best I've had in awhile and is as close to homemade you can get without actually making it yourself. I'm convinced that this is the best restaurant in Burke. Everything we ordered came out fantastic. Me and my brothers were blown away by how flavorful our food was. We had the Virginian panini, Korean fried chicken sandwich, and some sausage, egg, potatoes with pancakes on the side. Portions were more than enough for one person so we had lots of leftovers :) We will definitely be returning. read more

I have been here a total of 3 times and it's safe to say I love this adorable restaurant. The service is very polite and quick. The food is amazing. Each time I had breakfast but every time they didn't fail me. The hash browns are delicious perfectly cooked. The eggs are scrambled very well perfect texture. We ordered breakfast to go from here last weekend and it was delicious! I had a western omelette and my wife ordered a breakfast combo plate to go. It was enough food for two meals. We ordered from their website and the food was ready on time and well packed. My only suggestion is that I wish that they would expand their uberEats and DoorDash menu options to include the full breakfast menu such was omelettes and breakfast plates which are not on those menus now. I went to Smith and Clarkson's when they first opened up in Burke. It was okay; I was not impressed. I ordered a corned beef (cold) on rye with russian dressing and cole slaw. Pretty normal, I thought. The owner or manager came out and gave the order taker a hard time because I wanted cole slaw on it and he wanted to charge me for it. I didn't go back. Several months ago I had a craving for a corned beef as above and I noticed the owners/managers were different. No problem ordering sandwich with my cole slaw and it was very good. Since then I had cravings for BLT's and now tuna. The BLT's were very good, but the tuna was excellent and probably the best I have ever had. The hubby gets their breakfast burritos and he likes them...he is extremely hard to please. I plan on trying their breakfast items maybe this weekend because they serve breakfast all day and I prefer it in the afternoon or night. The prices are very reasonable and the food that I have tried so far is great. I especially like their whole grain bread with the nuts and seeds. read more

I was very disappointed when they moved to Burke. I was expecting the delicious high quality food that they had when they were in Springfield. This food is not the same and the atmosphere is no where near as friendly and up beat as the original. They must have switched owners. When I go in there now they are not friendly. I'm actually surprised they made it through Covid. If you have never been to the original smith and Clarksons you have no idea what you're missing. So sad that this place has gone down hill so fast. read more

Eek! New owners and it's just not the same. I am so sad. I have been going to Smith & Clarkson's for years since they were at the Ravensworth shopping center. They were the place to go for a real, authentic home-cooked breakfast and the BEST breakfast potatoes in the area... the only place I knew of that still made them fresh, cut the potatoes and onions in big pieces with the skin partially still on and cooked them together with just the right amount of pepper and seasoning... now they just have the typical little square potatoes that probably came out of a frozen package. And there was WAY too much of whatever seasoning they put on there. I couldn't even eat them. I guess I'll have to find a new favorite spot for when I'm craving an authentic breakfast :( read more

The quality of the food has gone down, the prices have gone up. The wait times are very long now, even when only a few customers there. My last 2 eat in visits the food was cold. I even called in my order to go and still had to wait over 10 minutes when I got there, and it's early and the place is empty. The decor is tasteless, they removed all the mirrors and covered up the ones around the seating areas with some type of black film. I looked this spot up yesterday and I must say, this place is legit! I had the grilled chicken melt and although it was different from what I normally would get, it was delicious and the chipotle pesto had a nice kick to it. Most importantly, the restaurant is about 25 minutes from my house and I didn't actually eat the food until I got home. To my surprise, everything was still hot, even the fries were still nice and crispy and not overly salted. My wife had the BLT sandwich with wings and as soon as she bit into the sandwich she responded with a classic "OMG." To make a long story short, we are going back again for lunch today. Great place... Took the kids here for brunch. Place had a nice atmosphere to it. You go up to the register and order your food then they bring it out to you. We got an egg breakfast, chorizo burrito, waffle, pancakes and french toast. All come out nice and hot and was really really good. I would compare this place to like Bob and Edith's. I checked w/ the kids (3 of them) and 2 voted for this place saying it was better then Bob and Edith's in terms of diner food. Waffle was super fluffy and cooked to perfection, The chorizo burrito was amazing. Only downfall was on the chocolate chip pancakes since it was all just bunched at the middle while and Bob and Edith's it was spread throughout the pancake. Another was that that the hash browns here were just a patty over the shredded hash browns at B and E. But overall great place. They do lunch and added some wings and rice dishes to the menu.
