Smith's has gotten reallly bad over the last few years, but this location is the worst of the worst. After being shut down for several weeks last year due to multiple health code violations, I expected them to clean up their act. I was wrong. Same rotting produce and meat, grumpy/unhelpful employees, and messy/half empty displays as before the clean up. It's also become the most expensive Smith's in town; I guess they're trying to make up for the business they lost because of the shutdown. At this point, I very rarely shop at Smith's any more. Nowadays most of my groceries come from Trader Joe's and Costco, and judging from the steady increase of customers lately at TJ's & Costco, I'm not the only person who's made this decision. If it weren't for a particular Kroger brand creamer sold only here and on Golf Course in all of ABQ, we would never go here. They were out of stock on half of our list, again. Produce and bakery look nicely maintained but our produce from here doesn't last. We don't use the butcher or deli, so can't comment. The checker, Linda, is always lovely. Honestly this might be the best smith in town! The always have great sales and clearance items. My favorite clearance items are the flowers I rehome. This last time I bought a cute bouquet for less than a buck! What a steal! Hands down to Kim at the checkout who has a positive attitude and so loving to my child. Everyone here has always provided excellent customer service. I was disappointed they closed the seafood stand to order. However, now they have them packaged and ready to grab. I have serious doubts as to whether I will ever return to this location. Navigating the store, which was not particularly busy, every employee I came across, intentionally avoided eye contact, and sometimes even walk the other direction. Not helpful. While going through self checkout with FOUR items, including a pizza, I was somehow flagged by the machine as being "suspect." The abrupt and confrontational employee walked up to me to review the video as opposed to simply look in my cart and cross reference the FOUR items. Pretty easy to count. She then told me that I did not ring up the pizza. I pointed out that I had in fact, rung up the pizza. She then rolled her eyes at me, pressed some sequence of buttons and walked away without even an apology. Not only are your machines antiquated (I ring up my groceries the same way anywhere I go), your employees are rude. I've always tried to support my local Smith's, but after my most recent visit, I won't be returning. I went in to buy some groceries and a couple of bottles of alcohol, only to be told--completely out of the blue--that a manager had instructed the cashier not to sell me any. There was no reason given, and I wasn't rude, intoxicated, or behaving in any way that would justify a refusal. The cashier was kind and clearly uncomfortable with the situation. She tried multiple times to reach her manager, who initially wouldn't answer. When the manager finally called back, the entire "explanation" was just a brief comment and an "okay," leaving both of us confused. Later, I learned from another store that someone else recently had the exact same experience at this same Smith's location--which suggests this isn't an isolated incident. I called the store to calmly ask what was going on and to give them a chance to explain or correct the issue. Instead, the manager I spoke with was short, dismissive, and actually hung up on me. It's disappointing to see this level of unprofessionalism and complete lack of accountability. If management is randomly denying sales and can't even treat polite customers with basic respect, it's hard to trust how they're running the rest of the store. My family, along with several friends who've heard about this, will be taking our business elsewhere. I was very disappointed today, with the cashier Chelsea who was rude and confused with taking care of a customer. I placed my groceries on the conveyor with a the separation stick. She removed stick, pushed my groceries back, told me to be patient! She was doing 3 separate orders! I asked for management to come, one lady came who was confused, said nothing, then an old man who finished ringing me up was rude. I have been very disappointed in Smith's. I have gone to Smith's for the last 20 years, when I lived in St Louis and Salt Lake City and now in New Mexico. I find the quality and options have decreased, they have stopped carrying several items I used to buy. The price increases are ridiculous and I have even made comments to employees while having a conversation and they even said the buyer has stopped ordering certain merchandise. Shelves are empty and the deli staff is much to be desired. I was there today, mid morning on a Monday, and the produce wall was half empty. The seafood/meat counter had no meat and only half of the seafood was out and even the meat section had empty shelves. I figured on a Monday the store should be stocked after the weekend. I guess I am not too surprised why the health department shut them down last year. I'm disappointed with Kroger and how they run their store putting profit over having a quality business. Poor management. During COVID they'd close half the self checkout registers in the name of COVID. The insanity was the only registers open were all next to each other which put customers at higher risk. I mentioned the mistake to them on several visits to no avail. Today I asked an employee and assistant manager if they had something both answered "I don't know". Neither offered to help me find the item. Since they were both standing around it's hard to find an excuse for not helping. Luckily Trader Joe's and Albertsons are close. read more

Many of the Smith's employees can use this store to model what their Smith's stores ought to be like. This location always is clean, offers sales, has fast and friendly cashiers, and has restrooms open to its customers. This Smith's is located near other businesses, and so if you or anyone you are with wants to go to any of the other nearby stores, they can while you or someone else shops at Smith's. My family and I do this every now and again; for example my children and I will go to Keva Juice while my significant other quickly runs into Smith's to pick up a few items. A few times we have even ate at one of the nearby restaurants first, and then we shopped for our weekly groceries. Smith's has a rewards program that offers you discounts at the register. Buying groceries earns you points. If you bring your own reusable bags, the cashier is supposed to give you additional points. Sometimes you have to remind him/her to do this. At this location a cashier forgot to reward me my extra reusable bag points, so then the customer service employee credited me those points. It was another annoying step that day to earn points, but at least this has only happened once here. I have been to other locations where the cashiers frequently forget, or the cashiers seem annoyed when you ask for the reusable bag points in the fist place. The next time one of them seems annoyed, I'll ask to speak to his/her manager. I'm sure this will never happen at the Smith's location at 8100 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87113. Once you get enough points, then gas discounts can be applied toward your next gas purchase. This location has a gas station located west of the grocery store. It's on the other side of Wyoming. The gas station usually seems well-kept. I didn't notice any restrooms at that station, yet then again I have not asked if they had any. The restrooms I have used are located in the grocery store itself, and they have always been open every time I have been there. This is compared to the Smith's store located on 320 Yale Blvd. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106 -- the managers will close those restrooms there after a certain time, and customers will be denied all access to their restrooms -- even if you are a dedicated Smith's customer. Those managers do not care if you have shopped at Smith's for years; they will still treat customers poorly. As I mentioned in the first paragraph, other employees need to learn how to be true Smith's employees from the Smith's location at 8100 Wyoming Blvd. NE. At first our card wouldn't work and that's when they all started watching we proceeded to pay with cash and when we were leaving they all rushed to our register assuming we stole or something. Saturday June 18 around 5pm we were shopping around Smiths getting some food for the weekend and crab legs to celebrate Father's Day. Crab legs had a digital coupon and I could not figure out how to upload it. I tried the whole time we shopped like 30 minutes probably longer we went got the crabs the worker said we need to upload the digital code I said I had been trying he said the cashier would be more help I agreed so instead of self check out I went to a cashier who was no help, she said you have to do the coupon on your phone, I explained I had been trying could she help? She tried and we spent maybe 4-5 minutes trying she didn't know how on my phone only hers she kept saying . I asked if she would get a manager to help reluctantly she went to Sheila who confirmed I needed to do so on my phone, I understood that's why I was asking for help I could not do it. She reluctantly gave me the discount I asked if she could show me as I had tried for 30+ minutes and now she was the 3rd employee I asked and the front end lead she said no I got the discount so it didn't matter. I said you are the manager can you show me for next time she refused I said well can you call a manager for me? She said I can go stand at the customer service desk and ask for help. I stood in line for over 25 minutes after 10 minutes due to the employee David being very busy I asked if he could call a manager as I was getting more angry at that point Sheila no longer on the register decided to bag groceries at the check out closest and then go to the break room. The customer service gentleman called 5+times for Steven or I don't remember Ted or tod. No one came he went to the back couldn't find anyone. So I said let me leave my number please have management call back he let me give my number and wrote what happened. Another 30-40 minutes went by Steven called. To ask what I needed did not ask what happened or offer an apology. I stated I was upset and wanted to file a complaint told me to do so on the website, which I still cat figure out. Didn't ask what happened I kept saying nice to know you care. I finally got him to ask and told him what happened he said maybe she has stuff going on at home he would find out. Nothing to show he cared or that what I said even sounded alarming. After Sheila telling me to go to the customer service desk I went and stood in line while my husband paid. She said what a hateful person oh did I say that out loud? In front of my husband! The cashier and the bagger wow what an example of a leader who doesn't care to help a customer or ask for help if she can't provide it but to talk bad about a customer in front of her husband the bagger and cashier. Then to send me to customer service instead of calling for her manager then for me to stand there through 5 calls for a manager and no one respond to getting the call and still not caring. I haven't been to Smiths in a while. When they stopped taking Visa I went to Albertsons. I stopped in today to use the coupons they sent in the mail. Wow, it is obvious they have no concern for the customer. Lots of workers putting out freight that are all in the aisles so you can't get through. No concern about being in your way or an offer of assistance. At checkout on a Saturday afternoon they have 2 actual cashiers with 7 to 10 people in line. Only 5 self service registers available. I chose to be a part time employee and ring up my own purchase. It did not go well. Machine continually stopped and said to put items back in bagging area that were never there. Assistance was available but totally overwhelmed. Shame on you Smiths for treating the employees that do show up to work like that. Everyone is having hiring issues, but most aren't treating the souls that show up like they're slave labor. If your employees don't feel comfortable providing customer service because they are under too much pressure to perform. Shame on Management. read more

The store is clean and well stocked; however, sometimes the organization leaves something to be desired (why is the yogurt where it is and not with the dairy and cheese?) My husband and I had a terrible experience with this mess on 1/3/22. we used the self check out. we could not get out of the Chechen out area, because there were to Smith employees blocking the way while they were visiting. This Smith's is located near my home, so as you can see, I have a ton of check-ins for this location. The prices are good and the staff seems friendly. You will find organic and gluten free items at this location. They also some bulk items too. The only reason for the four stars, is because how screwy the store is arranged. Never used one before , attendant was reluctant to help me with produce ! No bags out - had to ask for 1 . Only a few grocery carts were available . In fact the older cart attendant asked me as I was walking thru the parking lot - "where are all the carts ?" Grocery selections were limited too ! What a nightmare! The self checkout girl just watched me struggle through scanning my stuff, without blinking an eye. She scanned her card every time, after making me wait, without even a friendly word, and when she saw me frustrated laughed about me with other customers. She said I made the machine more mad because I "cussed it out". I almost ended my visit cussing her out! Is this how you do business? Are your employees really at liberty to judge customers and treat them badly? I need her help that she only gives begrudgingly, every few minutes because I scanned ten more items? Not a bad shopping place at all. They've got your standard-fare layout: deli, bakery, frozen goods, you-get-it. This Smith's also has something of a mini Whole Foods section with "natural foods" and what not. Yay, for the tree huggers. Don't forget your Smith's discount card, pretty good deals. I regularly shop at this location but recently am finding that this store has a lot of empty shelves or they have dropped brands in favor of the Kroger brand, reducing variety of options. I usually end up making an additional trip to the location down the road. This has always been my favorite grocery. I no longer shop there. I went there yesterday after a couple of months because I was in a hurry. First the staff for the most part is friendly. BUT I refuse to be forced into using self-check to lessen employee hrs. They try to do this by not having enough actual checkers. Secondly they have cut out many brands, trying to force you to buy Kroger brands. (I got pumpkin, ruined my cookies), and I'm not sure how Albertsons does it, but they don't have pallets and boxes all over the place at 1:00 in the afternoon, like Smiths. I actually fell over a pallet once. Am I spending more at Albertsons, yes, am I traveling more to Sprouts, Costco etc. yes; is it worth it, YES. I have to say that recently over the past few months I have been super unhappy with this Smith's location. I feel like you have to scrutinize every single charge. They are currently running a sale on most vitamins buy one get one free. Sounds like a great deal doesn't it? Well it's not that great of a deal when you get out your car, review your receipt, notice that you were overcharged, grab your bags and head back to customer service, and then have to go through everything three times with the customer service rep because she doesn't believe you. That doesn't end up sounding like too great of a deal to me because my time is worth money. I'm really tired of being overcharged for items and I know there is always human error involved. That is to be expected, but how many times have you walked out of the store saying oh damn they overcharged me but it's just a couple of bucks and let it slide. I'm really kind of tired of it. Yes mistakes happen. It seems that these mistakes happen literally almost every time I shop here.
