I went to Smog 4 Less. The service was great! Price was right...$33.00 (mention you saw this price on the internet) plus additional $8;75 to send it into DMV. It is first come first serve type of business. So I had to wait a little over an hour, not bad for being a Saturday afternoon. I recommend bringing your laptop or a good book just in case! I live in Ojai and this establishment was a bit out of my way (Johnson Drive). So I decided to include a visit to REI and Whole Foods ....It was worth the drive! read more

My car has recently been repaired, so I had the codes blanked and then did the usual things to rebuild the OBD2 data set. There is a pending code but the MIL is off, and I need my plates renewed. This shop refused to test the car because of the pending code. On page 21 of the California Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) Procedures Manual it states that a car may pass with a pending code while the MIL is off. When I pointed this out to the shop owner he claimed never to have seen the BAR manual (!!!) and told me to go to another shop (wish granted). read more

This is an establishment that does not value the customer! They would not test my car because there was tape on the PCV valve (placed there by the prior owner). After I removed the tape (which they would not do for me), they accused me of tampering with / removing my PCV valve (which was clearly there). They then informed me that they had "10 cars lined up" and did not need my business! This was after I had taken my car there 3 times and been turned away because of a "residual" code in my car's computer (even though they freely admitted that they could test my car anyway and other stations probably would). I took my car to another "star certified" station and it passed with flying colors. read more

I arrived and was immediately greeted by a friendly employee (or owner?) who promptly tested my car. The waiting area had jelly beans which my kids were very happy to discover. They do not value customers or customer service. I was extremely disappointed with their judgmental attitudes and lack of tact. Not only did the woman behind the counter start an argument with the technician about me, in front of me, but made several rude and condescending remarks. And to top it off, she tried to make it out like she was doing me a favor. I paid for the smog. It wasn't charity. I will Never go back there! Heard about this place through a friend a while back. Awesome service and staff is very friendly. Only place I take my truck.

This place is a rip off. I took my truck in to be smog checked. Of course in the fine print there was a surcharge for trucks, fine. They then did the test. The truck passed with flying colors, but they failed it because of the after market air filter. Of course they did the test before telling me that they would fail it. I then got certification from K&N Filters that it was approved by CARB (California Air Resource Board). When I returned they would not pass it because they said it was not the correct certification even though CARB and K&N said it was (???). By the way, the retest is NOT free as advertised. What a bunch of crooks. I took my truck to another smog station and there was no hassle. read more

stay away! smog technician carelessly scratched my car right in front of me when i asked him to be careful, he and the rude lady from the front desk said "well then take your car somewhere else" i have never encountered service providers this bad i will be submitting a complaint to the better business bureau and to star certification regarding this disgusting place P.S. To the Owner (Bruce H.) - as a reply to your comment.. Your technician did in fact scratch my car. When he bent down to examine the exhaust on my car, he put his extremely dirty hand on the bumper to support his weight/balance himself. (which is unnecessary) after he stood up and removed his hand, he then proceeded to wipe in a circular fashion at the dirt and grit his hand had left on the paint. Which yes, scratched my car. I do not appreciate you saying that it is a lie. I expect you are trying to protect your business or make my review look inconsequential by saying that i'm somehow lying. Instead of being a gentlemen and apologizing or accepting responsibility. Shame on you.
