Absolutely fabulous service! I read the reviews and wanted to get my car smogged quickly. In the past there were places that made me wait over an hour. The reviews weren't wrong. Every person working there that I encountered were friendly, and cheerful. I kid you not, there were even people "whistling while they worked". Lol. I was in and out in about 25 minutes. It was $50 for the smog and certificate, which seems pretty standard, and adding in time saved, worth it. read more

Took my truck in to get smogged. The guy opened my hood, did the visual inspection and then hooked it up to the machine. It passed the smog check, but he failed me on the visual because of a hose. If he knew he wasn't going to pass it, he shouldn't have even put it on the machine. He still charged me $50 and said he would run it again after I fixed it for another $25. No other smog shop charges you if it doesn't pass and then charges again once it's fixed. Took it to a different shop and even they said that was bad business. read more

Awful. Took my truck for a smog check and it passed everything... except they found minor cracking in a tube and failed it. I still had to pay the full amount and when I asked about a retest when I get the hose fixed they said it'd be an additional $26. What a rip! I took it to another smog and he said they were being sticklers and he passed it no problem. read more

Smog Busters was a revelation of sorts. First it was run entirely by a very capable female force which in itself is a bit unusual, but in the same token reinforces the power of women in our world. I found it very appealing in this particular type of business, and my respect for them grew accordingly. Second their personalities all coincided with my idea of an outstanding set up, personable, respectful and overall efficient. Third, the music on this particular day rather energizing, a little on the hard rock but that type never hurt no one. Having been fortunate to adore the females in my transitory existence, starting with my adorable mother, who feared very little and appeared invincibly protective, to the magnificent nurses in my recovery, there is very little I do not admire about the spirit of women in general, and Smog Busters does honor the long traditions of good businesses. I found it at first intriguing that it was run by cool ladies, then invigorating to find such angle in Chico what one would call an original one. Smog Busters delivered in Aces, and nothing short of good tidings are my heartfelt wishes for this establishment. Yep, don't believe the "open until 4:30" I had a 3:00 appointment (they wouldn't take a 3:30)underestimating the new Chico traffic, and not able to leave work earlier than 3, showed up at 3:13 and they turned me away. So if your a girl and have had problems with passing smog for your car you may know how difficult it could be.. especially if you know nothing about cars. I've spent so much time and money I don't have trying to fix the problem. Not to mention all the other crap I've dealt with this year. So, Today I went to Smog Busters with doubts of it not passing, yet again. The lady at the front had already given me a discount which I thought was super nice... But still had hope. Sat there, waited... When the lady came back, and said it passed smog I could cry. Lol.. then to top it all off she also said someone paid my smog for me. She wouldn't tell me who but I literally could not stop smiling to the point of almost breaking down. I hope whoever paid it forward sees this post and sees how appreciative I am of this. It is nice to see a woman run business but the gal at the front counter has the customer service mannerisms of a wet napkin. Very confrontational and unwilling to help. Customer service skills are awful. Called to see when they took drop ins until which was 4 o'clock showed up at 10 minutes till 4 o'clock and she denied me service and they shut the doors down although business hours are stated until 430 I told her I drove all the way down here after calling and this was a waste of my time she obviously did not care. An obvious man hater working in a man's Field dealing with men coming in all day pretty awkward. Be careful of this monster. read more

I had a 3.30pm appt for a smog on a two year old Mercedes, went next door and returned at 4:33 and they had locked my vehicle inside all closed up. and did not notify me. They SUCK!!!!!! What other auto repair business closes at such an early hour? THEY SUCK! I have no way home. read more

Did not help my son at all in dealing with his first smog. It failed and they sent him on his way. No free re-check next time. No free pre-check next time. No advice on what to do other than take it to a BMW shop. All he got was -- you'll have to take it somewhere else now that it's failed here. The only thing they did was take his money. read more

I genuinely liked this place. They were fast, reasonable price (used my coupon) and clearly knew their business. The waiting room was cozy and warm. The lady behind the counter (which seems to be peoples bigget contention) was what I like to call a "tough cookie character". She came off as no nonsense, straightfoward, ain't gonna feed you any BS kinda lady. She was not UNFRIENDLY at all, mind you. in fact, I found her endearing and friendly in her own, unique way. But if you are looking for a feel-good, kiss-ass experience, maybe this ain't your kinda place...head on over to a dealership that kisses ass (as they are ripping you off!) This place seemed honest, educated and "downhome". The woman gave me a very detailed speil about my paperwork and holding onto it (because DMV can lose it). The info she gave me seemed like "additional service" and I don't think it was required she tell me all this. I also heard her help the guy in front of me (who did not pass) and he troubleshot why with him, and gave him detailed instructions on what he could do to fix the problem before retesting. I'll definately go back and hope I have the same experience again :) read more

Wow! I love this place! I needed the energy today, I have had a terrible week. I came in to get my 1991 truck smoged, and they were one of the only people in town who could do it. While there I got to relax and watch TV while everyone was so friendly and chipper. It really set my mood to have a great day. The customer service wasn't the friendliest in the world, but it certainly wasn't the most hostile. I felt comfortable giving them my money. It has the feel of a laid-back family-run shop, which I don't mind, but lacks the professionalism that some consumers desire. The technician who ran the smog check on my car was smiling and friendly and put me at ease. They told me it would take about 20 minutes, and they were right, almost to the minute. I'm not sure I just went in at the right time or not, but there was no line, and I got a surprise $5.00 discount, presumably because it was slow; but I wasn't going to complain at all! I've seen a bad review for the Paradise location, but, as for the Chico shop, I've gone back, and, as needed, I'll probably go back again. read more
