Smog Busters on Fort Apache was closed so came here instead. Didn't catch his name, but the African American dude working either hates his life, his job or both. I knocked on the window and he looked at me like "oh god a customer" and then opened the door and just stared at me. I asked him about pricing and the match pricing on coupons and he was just highly irritated that he had to answer questions at all. I had to complete a smog check and get my car registration renewed. I saw this Smog Busters near my side of town and thought I would give it a try. I was helped out by the gentleman there and he helped me out and even provided information on other services! Overall great experience compared to waiting at the DMV when the online registration site doesn't work properly. Rude staff, do yourself a favor and find another spot, there are others close by. I asked the younger woman working if they accepted competitor coupons for a discount and she said they did. When I went to pay she did not give me the discount, because she said I should have given her the coupon before the test started, she didn't ask for it at that time, so did not give me the discount. All done with an attitude. The savings I was going to get was going to be her tip if she was nice, so loss for her. Takes little effort to be nice, it's a 5 minute transaction if that. read more

This is a nice and new location for smog busters very close to the Summerlin area. It is located on the corner of Grand Canyon and Russell in the gas station parking lot. The attendant was friendly and prompt and got us in and out of there within a couple of minutes. You can also go on their website and get a coupon for the service for $17.99 you just have to show on the phone. This is an easy location for anyone in the Southwest area west of Ft. I have huge ethical and philosophical issues with being compelled by the government to pay for a service from a private business. That is where my experience with this company began and they managed to make it worse. I found a coupon online for this particular company and grudgingly drove to this location to get the test. I am from WA where an emissions test is required every two years. The stations are set up by the state and there is a set fee for all of them. To be upfront, I wasn't a fan of that either but NV has made it worse. The fact that they can determine their own rates here smacks of government collusion. This is an industry that exists entirely due to government mandate with apparently very little in the way of rules or regulations. When I pulled up, the tech came out and without saying much started connecting the test equipment. After it was done he handed me a bill. I advised him that I had a coupon and he was visibly irritated. He scolded me for not telling him this upfront. I guess I could have but since he so brusquely went about his job, I opted to wait until the point where I paid for the test. He complained but went back and change the price on the bill. It was still higher than the coupon. I asked him if I was being taxed on this mandatory service. He then advised me that there was a fee for not paying cash. Several thoughts here: First; I'm avoiding cash like the literal plague during this pandemic and I was under the impression that most businesses were doing the same at the urging of the government. Second; I worked as a territory rep for a large credit card company for several years and it was absolutely against theirs and every other credit company's user agreement to charge a fee for using a card. Doing so gets their ability to accept credit cards suspended. Third; he just scolded me for not telling him I had a coupon at the beginning of the compelled service but he apparently felt no need to advise me that his organization's breaking of their agreement with the credit company was going to cost me more. You decide, is this more ironic or annoying or just annoyingly ironic. Since I'm already annoyed, I'm going to venture into "Karen" territory here a little bit. There was a sign on the window requesting tips. Here are my thoughts on that; I worked for four years during my 20's as an airport shuttle driver in Seattle while I was going to school. I carried a lot of heavy luggage up and down flights of stairs for people who often didn't tip very well. Luckily, a lot of people did tip well and I made a pretty decent living for a college kid because of that but the point is, I worked very hard. I am irritated with the notion that I must tip everyone who hands me a to-go bag across a counter these days. I did it during the total quarantine period to try to help out my favorite restaurants but I generally don't as a matter of principle. If I hauled a few hundred pounds of luggage for a family from their home or apartment to a van, loaded it for them, entertained them while I drove them to the airport while making multiple stops around the area as it was a ride-share service, got them to their flight on time and unloaded all their luggage for them and then got a $2 tip on a bill that was often over $100, I know from whence I speak. That happened more times than I can count. If you want a tip from me, either get my order right, my food to me in a timely manner and keep my drink full or throw me a significant extra with that takeout order or I will tip low or not at all. I feel like I'm overly understanding with places I like. I gave a full tip to a server who screwed up my order twice on Saturday and ultimately didn't even bring me half of what we ordered. I really shouldn't have but it's a place we usually love. Those are just my general rules for tipping. If I'm having to pay for a service that I'm forced to get because the government colluded with your industry, I'm sure as hell not tipping for that. Needed a smog check to renew my registration. West to two places before finding this one that didn't have a long wait. Also got a tip that there was a coupon in their website but you need to show it before the service. A smog check is a smog check anywhere. My review is based on efficiency and cleanliness in the context of Covid-19...which is a concern for me, a healthcare worker with a background in infectious diseases. Ed was done with my smog check within minutes. He wore a mask and gloves, took care to make as little contact with my car as possible. He did need to sit inside, turn the keys in the ignition, and remove a plate near where you pop the hood. When he needed to push the door open, he avoided the "high touch areas" (door handle) and pushed the top of the door. I know that the general public wouldn't notice things like this but I really appreciated his attention to detail. It's so uncommon nowadays that when people pay attention to the little things and can practice them efficiently, it really deserves praise. Thank you! read more

This place is amazing. I needed to do a smog inspection on my 2013 Toyota Prius. There was no one waiting to get it one done. I pulled up, the guy quickly took down the information he needed from me. They ran the tests on my vehicle (it passed) and I was done in less than 10 minutes. The guy was friendly and efficient. I showed the coupon from their website and he automatically gave me the discount. There was a $1 charge for using my credit card, but that's no big deal. I went to pay for my vehicle registration right after this and they already had the result from my smog check. Overall, this is the place I'm going to from now on to get my smog check done. My friends will also be going here from now on as well as I will advertise like crazy for this guy. They are closed on Sunday, but have reasonable hours Monday-Saturday. read more

Charged me full price (more than is listed on their website) for a test only to tell me that my OBD port 'looked tampered with' and that they couldn't complete the test. To be clear, it's not their flunking my car that I take issue with, but their making me pay full price so they could tell me they couldn't even begin the test.
