I was looking for a smog shop on Saturday at 3:30pm and found MN Star Smog on Yelp. They had high reviews, so I gave them a call to see how long the wait was. I then brought my car in at around 4 o'clock and had one vehicle ahead of me. I was there for a total of 15 minutes and my car was done. First time I've ever had to get a smog check and I'm glad I chose this place. The woman at the counter was really nice and the inside of the business is amazing. Basically brand new. Like the other review I too was offered a water and was told I can change the tv to whatever channel I like, there's not much of a selection for channels but that's no big deal, I'm here for a smog. I have taken my Corolla here for two things now: 1) to fix a chipped windshield (patch/repair) a year or two ago 2) to get the same car smogged, today Both times they were great. In particular, Melvin has been fantastic, super nice and mild-mannered. MMSS also has very competitive pricing, fast service, and they have a nice little waiting room too. My window repair has remained stable for a year or two, no problem. Couple that with the great reviews, which that, combined with competitive pricing, brought me to in the first place, and now I'm paying it forward. Very quick and efficient service. They take your key and registration as you walk in, usher you into a waiting room, then call you back out in about 20 minutes with your car ready to go. Pricing is comparable to other places around, if you have a coupon. The Groupon deal costs $39, but then MM charges an additional $10 for STAR service. read more

MM star smog is the best price around. I called about 10 other smog places and this was the best price of all. For my car, a 1995 Honda civic, the star smog test was $50 including the certificate. It says on the wall that it costs more, so maybe it's cuz I called ahead of time. Also, the office and waiting room are the cleanest and nicest I've ever seen at any car place. Leather seats, large flat screen tv....not that all that matters much. :) mostly the price is the best. read more
