DO NOT come here if you need a vehicle safety system inspection (VSSI) report. Brought a salvage car here to get a VSSI report (required by DMV) and the technician failed the inspection. Went to get a second opinion and Certain parts that he listed as failed DID function properly! Asked how much they will charge to fix the issues in order to pass the inspection and he quoted more than what I paid for the car! It was ridiculous! They want to fail the inspection so that you would spend money to fix unnecessary parts. Will never come here or recommend this place! read more

When that dreaded time arrived for me to renew my vehicle license, I was required to get it smog checked via Star Certification. After checking Yelp for places close to where I live, I discovered Smog Mart located near the corner of Stockton Blvd. & Florin Rd. I called them to see if I needed to schedule an appointment, in which I was told that it wasn't necessary. When I arrived, they turned out to be quite busy, after all, they are a full service repair station. But I was told by a grumpy man at the front desk that I should have made an appointment. I told him that I had called to do that, but was told I could just come down. That's when they went ahead and took me in anyway, but I would probably have to wait a few hours. I didn't have much choice to decline, so I settled in one of their cozy and comfy sofas in the lobby. At least they have 3 TV's above the front desk to keep you entertained. I didn't have any place to be so I remained patient. After about an hour, my car passed the smog test and I got my official certificate to drive my car for another 2 years until I have to go through this again. The staff was nice enough and polite so I don't have much to complain about. That's why I'm giving this place an OK review. Not a wonderful experience but not that bad either. read more

Went there to get a smog check and while I was waiting for my car, another family came in arguing with them about why they fixed more things to their car without asking first. The family complained that they came there with only 1 diagnostic code that was supposed to fixed from the shop but then the shop ended with more codes and more to fixed. The shop was trying to charge the family for fixing all the problems when they didn't have the permission to continue fixing it all. Then my smog check came back as failed due to visual inspection to the air intake hose. Went to another shop right afterward and they passed my car. I think this shop is a scam. read more

I'm not a fan of writing 1 star reviews because I'd hate to sound like a brat, but I feel this is warranted as the owner states that he "has to follow rules and regulations of BAR", but still doesn't. I had someone purchase my vehicle that was stock, aside from an intercooler, which is legal to have installed if the turbocharger is unmodified. I sent him to this shop to have the smog check completed because it was close to where he lived. The car failed the visual inspection due to the intercooler and hoses. I replaced the hoses with the factory hoses and it still failed. I called the shop to get an explanation on the failure and I spoke with whoever answered then phone and then Roman, the tech who performed the smog check. After explaining that on Page 49, the BAR Smog Manual states that if the turbocharger is FACTORY, an EO number is not required for the intercooler. Roman didn't appear to know this and said that because the intercooler was not factory, it will not pass. This shop seems to have precedence or believes that their belief supersedes BAR guidelines. They have also stated "that in doubt, they will fail it" despite it being within BAR guidelines. This is crooked. They're failing my car to force me to pay again to get it smogged. Yes, I can go back within 15 days for a retest, but it should not have failed the second time. For reference, from the BAR's Smog Manual - " For the purpose of a Smog Check inspection, inspectors are only required to verify the EO as listed in this table. Any add-on or modified part not otherwise addressed on this table must have an EO and be verified during inspection. See attached photo for the above statement. It is not required to have an EO since the turbocharger is factory and an intercooler is in the BAR table/guidelines. I took this to another shop and explained this situation and the smog shop had ZERO issue passing the visual and smog. I told them the information that this smog shop presented and he said "that is what happens when SMOG technicians don't know what they're doing and think they abide by their own rules". Long story short, these guys made getting a smog a hassle and they don't seem to follow the BAR guidelines for smog. They follow their personal beliefs despite have guidelines laid out for them. I've filed a complaint against this shop with BAR and have scheduled an appointment to bring this car to the BAR Referee for review DESPITE having already passed. The fact they seem to think they can "fail when in doubt" shows a lack of education and contradicts the owners "statement" on why he started this business. It's simply a cash grab for him. I can't recommend another station nearby as I don't live in this area anymore, but I'm sure there are higher rated places in Sacramento than Smog Mart. To the business owner, if you respond, please choose your words carefully. Also, I hope you are ready to still back your technician for falsifying my smog by saying things were tampered when they were not. I had to come to Smog Mart to have a intoxalock installed on my car. They were friendly and courteous and showed me how to use the device. I have had to come back a few times to have it recalibrated. The first time I came to have the recalibration done the person who did that was about 30 min late and it took a long time almost 45 min to have it recalibrated. The second time it took about 15 min. Recently I had to have a new brake on the front and back. New rotors on the front. However, the electronic emergency brake would not go into service mode. The mechanic it to my attention and felt that the intoxalock was the root cause of the problem. Took it in and again courteous service explained to me what might be causing the issue, gave me a discount on the inspection and also quoted me to do the back brake pads and if I needed new rotors for the back. Advised me that the back rotors are thinner and if they are warped could cause and issue. I felt that they were honest with me and provided great customer service. read more

Beware of DEREBENSKIY, ROMAN/EO147919 STAY AWAY! Brought my car in to get a smog check before selling the vehicle. Everything went smoothly until technician (DEREBENSKIY, ROMAN/EO147919) Technician was honestly looking for something to fail, and looking for any reason to fail me. I'm not sure if he didn't like us or anything, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with my vehicle. I'm not sure if he's having issues or problems at home, but work is definitely not a place to take it out, and complained about front driver headlight bracket being loose, which was false. There's nothing wrong. There's no play whatsoever. He also stated there was an emissions code, and my catalytic converter was tampered with which is also false. Like I said he is just looking for a reason to fail me. I highly doubt the business will let go with him so I recommend staying away from the shop if you want to save some money. Took my vehicle to natomas smog shop in my neighborhood literally 30 minutes after the scammers failed me I highly recommend them! Always my go to spot to take my cars for a smog. Have been going here for quite some time now, mainly because they used to have a pool table in the waiting area to play while you wait. Unfortunately they no longer have a pool table but have renovated the waiting area to look much nicer and up to date. They have 3 TV's playing basic cable tv so you don't get as bored. A few years ago I took my BMW in for a smog, it passed but upon inspection they found other issues in the vehicle and provided me with all the paperwork so I could shop around for the best price I need. Have never had a bad experience here, all the workers give good honest work and never make me feel like I'm getting a bad deal. Which is why I continue coming back. Highly recommended, they don't do appointments so it's walk in only. I'd suggest to either come early in the morning or call ahead to see the wait time is before showing up. read more

THINK ABOUT IT BEFORE GOING THERE! I am giving a 2 star only because they made the situation right being that my wife was given the certificates. 1st my wife went in for inspection she failed since headlights not adjusted as stated on form. She was told that it was going to be a 3hr labor charge. Which consist of removing the BUMPER headlamps and caps to adjust. After she informed me what happened I took the car for a 2nd opinion, YouTubed and checked to see what it consist of to remove the headlamps. She called The shop since She wanted her brake certificate told him I paid Rome said he couldn't give it since both certs go together with lights to go back to the shop Rome explained to me what he meant. He offered to pass if I remove the caps to adjust headlamps.. Well to my surprise 3 bolts on each side within 10 minutes I removed the caps see photos. My wife was still upset and explained it to Rome that it didn't take to remove the bumper.. Rome the tech refused to except overcharge/error told her I damaged it! No I didn't damage it, I help my wife not get overcharged! Her headlamps were adjusted and she received her certificate. Next time we won't go there. Honesty takes you a long way. Stopped by here for the first time to smog check my car. I drove pass this place so many times but never came in to check out their services coz the shop looks busy all the time. So i decided to come early in the morning. The shop is cleaner than some other shops that i have been to. Good customer service and very professional. Cost $58.20 for smog check, but they have a very good discount, so didn't end up pay that much. Don't know how long the discount will be.
