Came here as a walk in as my car needed a smog so I could renew my registration. They were quick and efficient and got me in and out and in about 30 minutes. They dont do appointments but are fast. Kinda want to keep Hoan and his shop secret, but also just want his shop to get the recognition it deserves. I was referred to Hoan's shop through a friend 2+ years ago and now, my boyfriend and I go to him now exclusively. It is the small things that they do that shows how much they care for their customers. My passenger seat sun visor has always been missing a screw which was NBD, but magically on my oil change appt, it was fixed. Another time, I lost my gas cap and forgot to buy a new one. On my next appt, a new gas cap appeared. None of these instances did I ask them to fix, but they just do it without even mentioning it :'). I'm pretty shocked that Precision Smog & Tune only has 18 reviews on here. Given that they're always so busy, I expected more. It's always best to call before you try come in. If he's too busy, he usually just tells me to come in the next day. My family has been going to Hoan for years and nobody else. I swear he has the best prices in town. Other mechanics have tried to charge me $80 for an oil change which is crazy. I could do it myself for half that price. Hoan always gives me a great price which is why I always come back and recommend him to all my friends. I needed to get my AC fixed and he was actually able to get the parts I needed and fix it all within the same day!! And once again, WAY better price than other places quoted me. Trying to find a place with an in-floor or low profile smog can be a pain in the rear of your car is lowered or if you have a factory sports car that is low. I hadn't done a smog in a long time since my cars were newer and didn't require it for a few more years. I ended up picking up a 2000 Toyota that came lowered and ended up searching online for places that could smog it. I found a couple of places and left home. Upon stopping at the light on Florin road, I saw the smog shop that I went to a long time ago for smog. Decided on a whim to check it out, and luckily, the owner hasn't changed! This place has a lot of customers, even on the weekdays but the wait time isn't too bad if you are looking to smog your car. Parking is extremely small, but on the side there is an alleyway you can park at. They also do repairs here too, but I tend to fix my own cars since I dislike others working on my car. They take credit cards and a smog is typically $50 here, I haven't seen a coupon but I didn't mind since I really needed a smog. After showing up right after they opened, I was able to get an oil change done but there were many cars that were lined up needing much more serious work. If you drop off in the morning and pick up in the afternoon, that's usually the best method since you don't have to wait around. The driver seat in my Toyota Camry was stuck and I couldn't slide it forward or back. I took my car in to Hanlees Toyota in Davis. They told me that the cable that connects to the gears was broken, charged me $172 for diagnosis, and told me that I needed a new seat assembly that would cost $2,011 for parts and labor. My friend who lives in Sacramento told me about Precision Smog and Tune on 8481 Florin Rd. I went there and met Thuan. It took him ~ 20 min to fix the seat and only charged me $50!!! My seat works perfectly fine and I didn't need a new one after all. FINALLY, I found a mechanic who is adept in his profession but more importantly - a mechanic who is HONEST! This is a rare find. This is actually our back up mechanic. He's really good too, but he's a bit more expensive, but worth it. There are things that he can do on my car that the other mechanic can't. So on this day, I had to have my car towed from Fruitridge Rd (regular guy) to here Precision Smog. My car was vibrating for some reason. So off to Precision it goes. Its late in the day so Huang,( the owner) of the shop excepts the tow I sent to bring it, but he can't get to it until the next day. Huang is a really cool guy and we feel that he's a pretty honest guy and he's good at his work. The shop itself is kinda small,, but clean and he has two vending machines and a t.v as well, but it's Always busy. We have been coming here for about a good ten years with different vehicles over the years. He does the smogs on all our cars, and never ever have we ever had a problem with his work. This shop is called Precision Smog, but this guy does way more than the name on the sign. I literally stand by his work. He's good and he never has your car for longer than he has too. The fact that he is always busy is an indication of how good his work is. Just My opinion! My only issue is that, Huang does mostly everything his self, he answers the phone, checked out all the customers and greets all the customers. The other two guys don't speak much english, so it all falls on the owner, Huang. When we first started coming here his wife would work the counter, but she had a baby with her. This place is great and the work is excellent and the owner is the nicest guy you will ever meet. He located at Florin and Florin Perkins, quiet decent area of town. I've been here twice now and every time, the service is great! I went here based of my dad's recommendation. I just moved back into town and my car just crapped out on me on day. I went here and they found my alternator needed to be replaced and promptly did so at a great price. Today, my car was making weird shaking noises while stopped and I just dropped in on them and they squeezed me in. I also had to go in (sooner than I wanted, but since I was there) to check on an oil leak. Once again, I got great prompt service. I never feel pressured here. In fact, the oil leak was mentioned previously, but they didn't push me on it. I'll definitely come back here for any other car woes that might pop up, but fingers crossed I don't need to. read more
