Alfred was a pro, was kind and even put up with my happy Pomeranian. I so appreciate this place. I first tried another place based on a coupon I received in the mail. Apparently, this anonymous place did not pay their fees to the DMV and the DMV shut them down so I waited for weeks with my renewal notice in my car. I came across Smog Stops Here and I am so thankful. Perhaps, Alfred is a bit more expensive than some others but it is so worth it. Sadly I found out the hard way that if your check engine light is on it is a automatic fail. No matter what it's from. So everyone please be aware first. Testing centers know this but I was told they can't tell you that. I don't know if that is true or not. To me it doesn't make sense but by testing they know you won't go somewhere else later. I paid full price including the certificate amount that I did not get and I don't think should have been charged at that time as I didn't get it. However If brought back within the time limit they retest. After costly repairs I went back and got it. If I had know I would have gone to the mechanic first. Ah, the dreaded state-funded extortion racket known as smog testing. Another government sponsored fleecing of the citizens of California. Let's be honest...it stinks. But unless you are going to start a revolution then you are going to have to comply and have it done. Fellow Yelp readers, if you are in the Burbank/Glendale/Toluca Lake area, Vic is the man to see. I've had Vic doing smog checks on my vehicles since 2005 and in all that time he's always been cheerful, professional, efficient, and helpful. I've never visited him, rain or shine, when he isn't smiling. He actually makes this process enjoyable and he seems to love his work. As others have mentioned, this smog shop is under new ownership. The owner before was amazing, and luckily nothing has changed with this new owner. I have been to other smog shops (In & Out Smog) where they hassled me over not having an O2 sensor. The thing is, my car never came with an O2 sensor. Even after calling Volkswagen and verifying over the phone with the guy, he acted like he was doing me a favor by testing my car! Anyway, I no longer have to deal with that now that I have Smog Stops Here. The prices here are reasonable and the owner even let me know ahead of time what to prepare for so I don't waste my time or money smogging something that won't pass. read more
