Came to get new tags after seeing all the great reviews on Yelp and they were right. No one likes the dmv so I'd gladly pay to not have to step foot in there. It was only $30ish to do it here compared to other places I saw for $50 or more. Hike was friendly and didn't make me feel like a dumb girl who didn't know crap about cars (even though I kind of am) lol. I guess they had some error with my car online so he called and was able to fix it. I'd give 10 stars if I could. Will definitely be coming here next time my dreaded registration is due. read more

This was the best smog check experience I have ever had. I know that sounds a bit absurd but the staff was really courteous and friendly and helpful. I had difficulty with logging onto yelp while there but he validated the yelp coupon as long as I promised to write a review. Anyways- you guys rock! Thanks. read more

Haik was great! I pulled up and he attended me right away. He took my car while I had a seat. It took no more than 15 min before he had my car ready. I am so glad I found this place that conveniently on the way to the dmv. There was no wait and the sitting area is big enough for 6 people. I will defiantly be back with all my other cars and I know I can trust him! read more

Friendly service. Quick too. Only 16 minutes and my car was finished. It's a little crowded in terms of space, however, someone will see to it that your car is safely maneuvered for you. Overall, a great experience for something I normally dread doing. read more

There are easily 198,057 smog check locations in the valley but why would you go to any place other than Smog Zone? WHY? I always bring my car to Smog Zone when I get those fun "smog inspection notice" letters from the DMV. They are super quick and friendly and have amazing reviews on Yelp for a reason. On my first day there, (yes, I went several times in one week), my car failed the smog test due to my car's computer not being ready. They were kind enough to tell me that all I needed to do was drive my car until the computer was ready. So I drove and drove and went back to them to scan my car to see if it was ready for a retest. It wasn't ready again. I was getting nervous because I was driving with a expired plates. So I drove and drove some more at their advice with the A/C on/off. Different driving patterns. During this time, my rear brakes needed replacement. I ended up taking it to a repair shop that also happened to be a smog test shop, too. After having my brakes repaired, I asked them if they would be able to see if my car was ready to do a smog test. Maybe their scanner might be different from Smog Zone's. (I know nothing about cars, scanning, etc) This repair shop told me no and that something was very wrong with my car. I left with very little hope, since he was not able to tell me what was wrong with my car so that I can fix it. I continued driving. My third time going to Smog Zone, they scanned my car and it was still not ready. I was getting very frustrated, not at Smog Zone, but at my car. (FYI, Smog Zone was very professional and explaining all the answers to my questions even if it was going over my head) During the third scan, he told me to take it on a long highway drive. The next day, I decided to go to my favorite city with Vietnamese food. A good hour drive. Driving around town, my engine light came on. I was sooooooooooooooooo happy to see it come on. I drove straight back to Smog Zone. They were able to test it right away. It was so quick, I didn't even realized I had passed until they motioned us to come in and pay. Made my day!!! Overall, each time that I had gone into their shop, it was very quick, professional service. You can tell they know what the heck they're doing and want the customer to be happy. It's nice that they remembered me so I didn't have to explain each time I went what was wrong with my car. I highly recommend this place to anyone needing their Smog Test. Fair, professional and they want their customers to come back. read more

Quick and easy spot to get your car smog checked. I didn't make an appointment, but I swung by before work to see how long it would take and if they could help me out before getting to work. So I pulled up and as soon as I got in the driveway, the nice guy who did my smog check directed me into their garage and let me know it was gonna take 5 minutes. Perfect! And $15 off the service - can't beat good, efficient service at a good price. read more

The guy here was very polite and organized. There were a couple cars in front of me, but didn't take too long. Overall fine place for a smog, more of a waiting section here then I've seen at any smog location. Only complaint is the check-in coupon. I've gone to enough smog places to know it'll be about $50, coupon says $15 off for check in and when i'm paying the guy claims it's $5 off and I still ended up paying $50. read more

Ahhhh man I had a snag with my vehicle. They threw out a few suggestions and i took it to my mechanic, sure enough it was a minor thing that was easily fixable and free. Had they not mentioned this at the smog zone I wouldn't have known and got charged a hefty fee just to reset my check engine light when all it was, was the gas cap..... I've upgraded this from 4 stars to 5!!! read more

Those are the things the business cannot control. Just like any other business or service it may or may not go in your favor specially if necessary steps are not taken . Getting your car smogged a pleasant experience? Actually yes! We just moved into the neighborhood and its always a hassle trying to wade through the incredible number of shady mechanics and car services until you find one you can trust. Usually along the way you find jerks, smooth talkers, idiots and sleaze balls. Lucky for me I found these guys through Yelp and was pleasantly surprised to find that all the great reviews were right on the mark. The gentleman working there was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and fast. Unlike some garages where you feel like getting a root canal might be more comfortable than being there, this place has a family run, neighborhood feel that makes you feel that you are in good hands. In fact, as I was talking to the guy, I found out that his dad actually runs a full garage right across the street. From now on, not only will I be getting any smog checks done here but I think I have found a garage for oil changes and any work I need done. Highly recommended! read more

I took my 2004 Honda civic there for a smog test on a Saturday, and was in and out in under half an hour. The owner, Haik, is extremely knowledgeable and has been in the business for over a decade. Very friendly, great service, and the price is great. You can plan your day knowing when you come to this operation, you won't be held up for hours waiting for your smog test to be done. Honest people in any business are hard to come by - but you can tell that the owners of this business are good people and are not trying to scam anyone. They got me in and out fast! I was looking on Yelp for a smog testing facility in my neighborhood, and found myself consistently put off by either the reviews or low ratings. I was thinking that I might have to settle for a less than pleasant experience when I finally came across Smog Zone. Like I said, they got me in and out fast. I was maybe there 10 minutes, and that includes the time I waited for them to finish checking a vehicle they had been testing when I arrived. They finished my test only a few minutes after I had filled out the paperwork. They were polite, quick and I plan to use them the next time I need a smog test. This is the place I go every time I need to get a smog test. The man who runs the business is so friendly and so nice, and so professional. And since the move (they used to be located across the street), it's actually even better, because there is much more room now, and it's easier to get in and out. There is now a small parking lot, so if you have to wait, it's no big deal. That being said, I've never had to wait. And if you call ahead, he'll let you know how busy he is, and when the best time to come in is. This is the sort of place that I prefer to give my business to, because it has that personal touch that I appreciate. One last thing: the chairs in the waiting area are really comfortable. read more

I have been going to Smog Zone for years now, and every time, it has been a great experience. This is my second review for these guys. I have been to other places in the past and these guys by far are the best. Haik and his staff have always been friendly, professional, efficient, and very informative. They have all the latest equipment and know what they are doing. I wouldn't want to go to anyone else. I know there is another smog business that is opening next door from them offering cheaper coupons, but I trust Smog Zone and would rather go where I know it will be done right. read more

I needed a smog so i was calling around trying to find a good deal. All these places i called were giving me the run around and charging way too much. Then the places that had reasonable prices were charging hidden fees. I found smog zone on this site and called. The owner quoted me a reasonable price and promised no hidden fees or charges. I went and got my smog done there and he charged the price as quoted. He is very friendly, fast, and efficient. He even give helpfull tips on how to maintain your car. I highly recommend smog zone. Haik has been taking care of our old mitsubishi for years. He is so good with cars that he knows exactly what's wrong before we even take the test so we can fix it and not waste our money doing a smog test we might fail. He is always honest, forthright and looking out for your best interest. I live in Marina Del Rey and would rather drive all the way to see Haik than waste my $$ anywhere with people who aren't as thorough or caring. By the way... with Haik's expertise and knowledge we never fail a test. And our old jalopy keeps running. read more

These guys are as legit as it gets. I had 2 cars ahead of me and was in and out in 30 minutes. Great guy and very professional. The shop is clean and air conditioned on the inside. Parking was crowded and the owner Haik accomodated a space for me. I suggest anyone that needs to be in and out and on with thier day come to this shop! They also are DMV designated registrars so you can actually take care of the whole registration process at the shop and recieve your tags on the spot! Will def take advantage of this next time around! read more

I went to a different shop and they told me my vehicle needed a few hundred dollars in repair. So i had a second to look at it , the previous shop told that the timing was off, so i brought my car here and they took a look at the vehicle and it turns out there was nothing wrong with the car. they didn't just save me money they saved me the hassle of looking for another smog place in the future i couldn't be anymore pleased with the results. I went to Smog Zone today @ 14125 Oxnard Street in the city of Van Nuys. My first time being there and I have to say I am happy to have found a new smog place. In the past I have had bad customer service, long wait time or just lazy people to do my smog. Haik @ Smog zone was very friendly and seemed to know exactly what he was doing. Haik could not have been more professional. I called twice before going in and both times he answered with a friendly, warm greeting. Haik was prepared when I showed up and took my car immediately. Because my car is older, he requested that I give him a heads up before arriving so that he could set up the special equipment for its' testing. I was in and out in no time and even though my car passed, he took the time to explain the test results to me. What a guy. Oh, and the place was clean and comfortable. read more

Had to go to the DMV to get my car registered for CA (I just moved here) and found out that I needed a smog test. I located this place on yelp and decided to stop by since it wans't far from the DMV. All of the reviews were true. It took the young man 15 min (or less) to do the test and get me on my way. Cost was $50 and the most difficult part was actually finding the entrance (it is in the middle of a strip of shops). When I have to get the smog renewal, I will be going back here for sure. read more

It was finally time to smog my Lamborghini Murcielago, and with my busy schedule I needed it done promptly. When looking for a smog station, I wanted to avoid being overcharged just because my car is a Lamborghini and not a Honda. After all, a smog is a smog. The work is the same. I stumbled upon Smog Zone, and Haik quoted me a lot cheaper than other places, even for my Lamborghini. He did a quick job, took care in his work, and was very informative. Overall, very pleased. I have a tercel which needed to pass a smog first I took it to my Machanic he said everything was good in it so I went to different smog places telling me that some things need to be fix trying to get extra money off me when I knew everything was fine in my car so I went here 2 days ago this guys are trustworthy good customer service and fast I strongly recommend this place other places were lying to me, i didn't have any problems here and my car passed the smog thanks guys read more

Unfortunately I knew nothing of Smog Zone when I drove in. If I had, I would have been going to them for a long time. Haik impressed me immediately. He is pleasant and professional. He made every effort to get me through quickly even though he had three cars ahead of me. One hour later, my car was ready. The building is clean and bright, and unlike other smog stations I didn't feel weird being there. Smog Zone is now my only smog check station! read more

I always dread receiving the DMV renewal that says "Please take this notice to a SMOG check station"! So, naturally, I put off going to get my car tested until just a few days before my renewal is due... luckily these guys are super nice and super efficient. I was in and out of their shop in about 30 minutes, with no appointment, and with two people ahead of me when I first arrived! Would absolutely come back here the next time I need a smog test. read more

Had never been to Smog Zone before, but my first experience there was a great one! I was due for a Smog Check and Haik helped me immediately, took care of everything, processed my DMV registration renewal and gave me my sticker, and did all of it very safely (with a mask on and a plexiglass wall up at the payment desk). It was a smooth and easy process, and then I was on my way back home. Would definitely recommend, and will return again! read more

To customer who is looking for a SMOG test check that has Shop-DMV online submission, SmogZone is the place: I was here this morning, 10/19/19. Haik is straight forward, i showed my DMV notice and took my car right away. Website says open at 9am, i arrived 8:50am done at 8:59am and pass! To Haik: Keep this kind of service man, not like others with blah blah blah and say need to fix something only to make money. Thumbs up to you Haik! read more

This place was recommeded by a friend. A bit difficult to spot, just west of Hazeltine on Oxnard, but fairly priced and nice people you could understand. Even though I had no wait, they've got a waiting area that you can view your car as it is getting tested!! Important to keep an eye out and for asking questions. Fairly priced after checking around with other locations. I had no coupon, so $60.00 I'll go back for next year's check! read more
