This place is right across the street from Wrigley stadium. It's very trendy looking with its exposed beams and industrial looking decor. I had the pulled pork and it was mediocre. My husband and I came here May 28th after a very cold Cubs game . It was pretty busy but the wait to be seated was less than 10 minutes. We got the Big City Eats platter . The food was delicious (our fave was the brisket) and came out picture perfect. We had plenty to take home since it was just us 2 . My only issue was they do not have many non alcoholic drink options other than Coke products. I am pregnant and watching my sugar intake so I would have loved a sparkling water. I ended up getting an unsweetened tea. Also, not a huge fan of their bbq sauces the mustard one tasted best to me. Not a big deal I may just bring my own next time lol . Where do I start. First, I'm not a tourist, so don't treat me as one. 2nd, if I was a tourist, it shouldn't matter. 3rd, your food was gross. I order ribs, probably yesterday's ribs, but it wasn't on the menu as a clearance item. They were cold/warm with an note of wet rag. Super char, but more like charred and charred and charred and then finally made it to my plate. I got the beans and corn bread. Corn bread was fire and warm, but the beans were cold/warm. I'm pretty sure you can change the menu title to 'Cold Daddy' items... add the rib and beans there. I was with a party of 9, and nobody had anything good to say about this place. Sad because the OG SD was fire. I guess if you have high rent you serve $hitty food. Last but not least, time to train your wait staff. When you bring the food out, don't shove any plate in front a guest and have the patrons figure it out. Seat 1-9 and put the orders in as that. Hopefully you can read this review and turn it around. This is the Wrigleyville outpost of the Wicker Park staple. The food is just as great. I typically rate a BBQ joint based on the brisket and the pulled pork. Neither disappoint. Beer selection is solid. Just way more crowded than the original with some manufactured ambience that pales in comparison to the original restaurant. read more

Stopped by on a busy Saturday to watch the Cubs and grab some food! I highly recommend the platter with pulled pork and chicken. Everything was perfectly tender and you can dress the meats up with the array of sauces posted at each table. The Mac was fab, and coleslaw was amazing. Great portions and value, as well! The ambiance is on point. If you can, DEFINITELY ask to be seated upstairs! The view of wrigley field on game day can't be beat...it's the next best thing to bring at the game! When I moved from Texas to Chicago I missed the smoked Barbecue I got there. Fortunately Smoke opened and I was in line as quick as possible. Thank the lord for them because I get my BBQ on quite often. I love the ribs, pulled pork, brisket, and chicken. I've had them all and we have had them cater parties and they give you more than enough to eat. They also have great desserts. Love the peach cobbler. Great sides, salads and staff is very helpful. If you're in the area and want some BBQ, I can recommend their pulled pork, but if you aren't in a hurry you're better off going south a few blocks to Sheffield's. Atmosphere: This place is massive. Designed to support Cubs game day crowds it feels a bit oversized on any other day. I've never seen the 2nd story even open. In each of my visits there was no one at the front desk and it took 5-10 minutes for someone to realize that we needed to be seated. Drinks: Nothing special here, the standards. Food: I've only had the pulled pork sandwich and it's very tasty. There's a bear-shaped bottle of very spicy vinegar hot sauce on the table that takes it to another level. The cornbread and fries are good but I can't speak to the other sides. Overall it's a nice addition to the neighborhood but given its proximity to Sheffield's this feels like it will be more for the Cubs crowd and not the locals. read more

False advertising regarding the hours!! Me and my coworkers came over here for lunch as it showed it was open at 11:30. Well we get there and go in and a guy comes out after about ten minutes of waiting from the back and says that they're not open until 2:00, and he was rude about it!! Came here tonight on a Sunday afternoon for the first time since they opened; 10/10. Food came out almost instantly. The burnt ends sandwich is like meat candy and THE CORNBREAD.....best I've ever had. Like ever, ever. Topped with a massive amount of sweet butter which I live for. Can't wait to be back. Def would never come here on a game day though, cuz it's probably insanity. Also in response to reading some 3-star reviews complaining about the service (which all seemed to be left on their experience dining here on a game day): Cut some slack for the servers. The baked beans were filled with meat but the flavor was lacking anything to wow you. I've come to realize maybe I'm not a BBQ girl. My husband and I went on Saturday with our 4 year old twins and were seated quickly upstairs. This place has a great vibe, good people watching and it's a cool place. We were seated in a booth along the kitchen wall and my kids loved that they could peek in the kitchen window, neat feature! What I don't love: the fact they only have cans of wine at $16 (2 glasses) so there's no way one person can just have 3 glasses of wine, you HAVE to have 4 and it WILL cost you $32. I don't like that restriction. Smoked stuff---I'm just not a fan and I realize this is just me. I had the corned beef sandwich and my first bite I liked, then realized it was just SO salty and SO smoked. Sweet potato fries were just ok, a little limp. My husband got the burnt ends sandwich, said they were pretty fatty but had good flavor. Later he realized how salty they were. We did like the nachos and chose to top it with brisket. That was delicious. Kids had the grilled cheese and mac and cheese--fine. I had the seasonal slushie, mint julep, and that was pretty good. I was in the mood for a mimosa and should have gone with that. I wouldn't run back and if I was going back because someone else chooses it, I'd probably stick with the burger and go basic. Came here after a Cubs game on a Wednesday night. They had a live band downstairs but we sat upstairs. We only stopped for drinks, and someone please explain to me- when we sat down they put a pulled pork sandwich and fries on our table. This is my favorite BBQ spot in Chicago. I was so excited when this second location opened in Lakeview. I still prefer the ambiance of its original location, but the food is equally good here. Brunch menu and dinner menu is a bit different. For brunch, you can get unlimited Bloody Mary with order of food. They make their own Bloody Mary mix and it's Smokey rather than spicy. It's served with a bacon and a skewer of brisket. Delish!!! On both menu, I would highly recommend ordering the cornbread and Mac and cheese on the side. Their jalapeño corn bread is amazing!!!! It's not dry at all. With the dinner menu, you'll get a choice of two sides with the platter order. I highly recommend their Burnt Ends and Brisket! They sell out of their burnt ends on a regular, so ask your server if they have this on the menu that day. One down side, Wrigley location is a little louder than the wicker park location. The room is more cavernous and noise carries. They do have a lovely patio area you can dine in when the weather is nice. I would recommend this seat if you would prefer a quieter spot. read more

Fan of the original location in Wicker, my girlfriend and I decided to stop in for dinner since we live in the Wrigley area. Our entrees were ok, clearly still figuring it out. We ordered our food and our appetizer which was a cheese dip took 45+mins to come out. We were already done with our entrees by the time it came out. The pretzels were harder than a rock and the dip was cold. You would think they would comp the appetizer that takes all of 10 minutes to prepare but that didn't happen. Our waitress may have been on something, she was all over the place. What has me outraged is that my girlfriend looked at her credit card statement this morning and was CHARGED 4 TIMES!!!! I don't even know how this is possible. We split the bill and somehow I was spared. I will take my money to other fine drinking and dining establishments in Wrigley game day or not. Told us the wait was 20 minutes but found a table immediately upstairs, overlooking Clark street. As the Wrigley band across the street wound up their set, the Smoke Daddy band kicked in and were awesome. I has the sandwich made from end cuts and trims, which requied no other sauce: moist, smoky perfection of a good (Gonnella?) bun. MY wife had the salad, equallt great (goat cheese and avocado!). It is my first time visiting this place and my experience was fantastic. Great atmosphere and very specious dining room. The host welcomed me with a nice smile and immediatley sat me near the bar. Few minutes later , the bartender a charmant young lady came to me and took my order .i was looking for to get a regular burger but as i asked her what was her favorite burger in the menu she recommanded me to try the FREAK burger. Its was so delicious espacially , i like the bread used for its cooking . In addiction , the ambiance was very relaxing with all the Tvs on with great sports channels. It was not too full for a friday afternoon . The bartender and also the server who brought over my food were very professional and nice. They have been checking on me during my visit. Smoke Daddy knew ahead of time that there would be 30-40 of us, most needing separate checks and we were on a tight timeline. Notta problem!
